  1. It was her lame liberal attempt to lay a guilt trip on him, and he spoke the truth. I love it!
  2. Dark beer, red wine[cheap], good whiskey in my coffee.
  3. I was browsing the thread in Bonfire about the low altitude exit in Ohio or Iowa. Anyway, my question is, what liscense would you have to practice a 2,000' hop n pop? Also, in and emergency, would you go staight for the reserve?
  4. The problem with most drugs, including alcohol , is that once a person starts using them, they don't just use it lightly on a Fri night. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you telling me that a lifetime of observation doesn't count for anything?
  5. Are you telling me that because science can't see, touch, or feel that something doesn't exist? That sounds like a statement of faith to me.
  6. The problem with most drugs, including alcohol , is that once a person starts using them, they don't just use it lightly on a Fri night. It becomes a daily thing, and there are very few drugs that do not cause a change in brain chemistry and personality. As for drugs like meth and coke, I've seen people on these, and I don't want to be anywhere in the vicinity. Something stupid is bound to happen. As for pot, a person may have grandiose dreams for life, but the physical motivation is simply not there. I hate to say it, but the recent ads on tv about smoking pot are pretty true to life. And I would know this, how?
  7. It's actually "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and unless you have the album you will never hear the whole song.
  8. Loud pipes rank right up there with some idiot and his thumping stereo that rattles your windows from two blocks away. Just lack of respect for others dealing with traffic. Get a boat airhorn and use it when you need it. I rode with one for several years, and it will definately get someone's attention.
  9. As I recall, marriage is a binding of two people's bodies and spirits. Shouldn't he have checked with Hillary to be sure that it was OK with her. That would have been consensual.
  10. If they are serious Muslims, they refuse to look at women, so the airline puts their hottest stewardess at the door showing as much skin as possible. Any man who won't check her out doesn't deserve to be on that flight.
  11. I'm not just pointing fingers at Catholics here. Most people start their children off early in the church, and it is very easy for rituals to become routines with no meaning. I also have a problem with what appears to be idolatry. A recent thread about the dripping chocolate. There was the insulated window that went bad a couple of years ago, and looked like the Virgin Mary, I believe somewhere here in Fl. There was the water stain on the underpass that looked like Jesus. The next thing you know, people are actually praying to these images. Moses would have torn them a new one. I also have a problem with praying to mortal men, i.e."saints." These people are born of the seed of Adam, and were sinners like you and me. They were just blessed with the proper combination of personality, temperament, and the gifts of God. There are many references to the saints being all believers in the Church, not just a handful whos lives were fully dedicated to the work of God.
  12. I know that there are innumerable factors, but on a canopy loaded 1-1 how many Gs are you pulling on a hard toggle spiral. I'm guessing about 3 gs. Any mathematicians out there want to verify this?
  13. Wasn't the ineptness of the justice system Harry Callahan's main complaint.
  14. Her missal was more the size of a pocket dictionary. She had several Bibles in the house, and even sent me a big fancy one when I told her that I had become a Christian. The idea was an affront to her. "All you need to be is a Catholic , because that's how you were raised," was her mentality. Most of us, at some point in our Christian experience, usually early on, become rigid and contentious about what we know. Often times, this is exploited and encouraged by the leadership of any given church. We must learn to separate religiousness from faith in Christ. Much of what we do is just time filling, dead ritual. Of course, this could apply to any number of secular orginzations, also.
  15. I had my own as a kid. The missal that I saw couldn't have possibly contained the contents of the Bible. My point is that Catholics from her era were discouraged from reading the Bible, as if understanding and discernment were solely the gift of the clergy. Our spiritual gifts are given to us by the Holy Spirit, and should be used to edify the Body of Christ, not just to ride herd on a bunch of sheep. My siblings seem to be exposed to considerably more scripture than I remember from that time. But then, I was probably ADD, and my mind was always somewhere else. PS. I am not your enemy.
  16. I was raised Catholic, and two of my siblings are still die hard Catholics. I actually came to the awareness of the claims of Christ at about the age of thirty. It all became clear to me that all of the form and ritual in the world will do nothing for you in the end. I graduated highshool in 71 as a frame of reference. I do not ever remember hearing the the words of Christ, "Except a man be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven," preached in a Catholic sermon. I believe that because of the growth of the Protestant denominations, the Catholic Church finally got a handle on these scriptures. Guilt, as opposed to freedom, was the way that the Catholic Church reined in its subjects for ages. My mother, who died in Jan. this year, was a hard core Catholic. She had her missle, her prayer book, and her rosary, but I never saw her pick up the Bible and read it for herself, just to be sure that what was being taught could be verified. Thank God for the honesty of a man called Martin Luther.
  17. Bicycling. Today my left foot came unclipped turning about 120 rpm in a short sprint with a friend. Pavement, I would like you to meet left shoulder. Left shoulder, pavement. I know that I can't reach my left toggle, so my next jump is probably 2 wks. out.

    House paint!

I do quite a bit of painting in my work, and enjoy the hell out of it. I think it's sort of a Zen thing. Get some high quality brushes, put your mind on cruise, and play with the paint. What a way to spend the day.
  19. What I'm asking is, that all things being equal, which canopy profile provides the most lift? It is my understanding that rear risers, pulling on all of the c& d lines changes the angle of attack, whereas, the brakes change the airflow across the top of the wing, much like the flaps on an airplane.
  20. Let's say that you ended up with a long spot. Assuming that you could hold the rear risers for that length of time, would you get more horizontal distance from the rear risers or deep brakes, and why?
  21. I'm now breaking them up into six month periods so that I have twice as many.
  22. You might say that she pulled that one out of her ass.

    House paint!

I know this, the better the paint the more solids it has in it, thus the better the coverage. Go to a couple of paint stores and let them educate you. You get what you pay for.
