  1. So does that mean I can't fly with my bag of lucky marbles? Stay aware next time you're in the sky, like you say is I think the important thing. Like I said I think it'll b no problemo Am curious about it the whole thing though. If I was part of a 4way RW team doing intense tunnel time (ain't gonna happen) I'd want to build pretend alti checks into my training, a sort of muscle memory thing? But what do I know... Thanks for the advice
  2. I've just booked 10 mins in the Airkix Tunnel, MK for next week, taking advantgae of their free coaching on a Tuesday night.
  3. good luck secondthoughts - don't forget to pull
  4. I'd never be so complacent to think it couldn't! You're right could happen anytime, whatever you think.. thats's why I practice EP's as soon as I'm kitted up, on the way to the plane & in the plane. Jus' keep finding those handles! Also every so often in freefall, also every so often under canopy. I want to handle my first cutaway with the calm correct precision that you showed! Well done again it must feel good to know that when the shit really hits the fan you can save your own life.
  5. Surely all life is sacred !! but what do I know
  6. JumpingJimmy - please read billvon's post again, specifically the beer drinking analogy in relation to your last post. Dude I'm even greener than you so feel free ignore me but if I were you I'd re-read ALL THE POSTS in this thread from canopy pilots way more experienced than you or I... Whatever your skill level, surely flying a high wing loading increases risk? Barring acts of god, it's your experience that determines the outcome of an incident... I seem to be paraphrasing billvon again, so ignore me, scroll up, read his post again. I also would of thought that canopy manufacturers pretty much cover themselves as do all skydiving equipment manufacters with statements something like 'parachuting is a sport that carries risk of serious injury or death blah blah blah..' , maunfacturers wingloading reccomendations are, I think, just that. Hope I meet you safe and well one day... Sam
  7. Searched the threads - mixed reports - am sure the training is good and great way into the industry, not sure if its for me, might still see u in NZ sometime! but what do I know
  8. I'm still in nappies but have jumped enough to know thats where I want to be, way high up high. To this end I'm seriously thinking about taking the New Zealand Skydiving School's Diploma in Commercial Skydiving - gonna get me a education here - http://www.nzskydivingschool.com/ Its a 32 week course with modules on dropzone ops, manifest, packing, safety etc etc and 175 SKYDIVES gimme gimme gimme. If successful and not a lutz you ultimately come out of it with a shiny new diploma for the wall and an FAI equivalent B certificate. I wondered if anyone out there had taken this course, or knows someone who has, who could tell me of their experience? Thanks Sam don't worry be happy
