Let's be sure that we didn't hear the other 2 sides of the story: the tapees and the truth. So even if we go by the abductor we know that violence was on teh table to coerce him into taking one of the other 2. And I'm not convinced the police option was even offered or they would have likely opted for that one before approaching him if that was in their desire. Once violence is offered, all bets are off. So because you are not convinced it did not occur the way it was reported. We will all remember that you will never change your mind in light if the facts. It may or may not have. It is highly unlikely that an event played out exactly as 1 side of an adverse situation reports. EVEN IF IT DID, we still have a situation where thugs hunted down a man and gave him options where at least 1 was physical violence. We don't have facts, we have 1 side of a story. -

I agree, but I find it more interesting that this news source counted it as part of a list of other failures. I don't think he has a resume of failures, but remember you think the media isn't all liberal next time you complain there is a liberal media conspiracy. The tingling sensation is starting to wear off? OMG that's a knee-slapper, point made, admission that the media isn't some liberal outlet. Some points are sharp..You just found one and it pisses you off Found what point; that all media isn't behind some liberal conspiracy as the conservatives will assure us, and now that point has been made by one of your own. -

I do believe Obama is intellectual (and consider that a good thing), but I think Thomas Jefferson, a polymath, is likely the most intellectual president that the US has had. Which is why I wrote, "probably." I went through several presidents and made a judgment that he was more intellectual than any I could think of, but I try not to make absolutes, so I wrote, "probably." Yea, different era, but for his day he was certainly a social and somewhat a military genius. -

Are you kidding me? He has more plans that he has implemented immediately. So let me guess, on one hand he has no plans for change, on the other he is doing too much. Rememberthat flip-flopper rhetotic from 5 years ago? He has plans and has implemented them. He pushes for the Dems to do things as that is our style of goverbment; it's not a Monarchy. He needs Congressional Dems to write and pass things, just like your boy's Overtime Bill that allowed some employers to require overtime but not pay them, that kind of Congressional stuff; I think you get it. HEY, this is not a GWB thread! Obama was a law school teacher for years as well as othger duties, are sure you understand Obama's past? He's more intellectual than probably other any president. And if he gets HC passed with a public option you'll claim luck or someone carried him, so this argument is meaningless. So now Oprah is in the fold. LMK who you really want to talk about and we'll do that. -

The tingling sensation is starting to wear off? http://instantrimshot.com/ Those cute 1-liners are part of the reason you and your party are watching real politicians run the country. Again, flip-flopper, what you're saying is that the media isn't all liberal. Not a new revelation to me, apparently to you. -

But if you are spanking your wife with her permission after you offered the option of a spanking or another beating, that is no longer with her permission. -

According to the lynch mob he was tracked down and given 3 choices of which at least 1 was violence. That's called coercion at the very least. This follows my point; once the lynch mob offered to beat him, he was out of the eqquation and it all rested on the criminals who lynched him. And remember, we know 1 side of the story. Again, what if beaten while taped and unable to defend himself, his captors off doing something else - not a big if really - then how would that play out in your mind? Was he endangered? The feelings of the caotured are not important, the captor admitted to giving 3 choices with at least 1 including violence, so that's all the prosecutor would need if they weren't all rednecked out. I don't make it mine. If I were that kid or were there to help him handle this matter, I would have said to not let the nuts in, if they broke down the door to retreat to the back of the house and get a gun, if they persisted and imminent danger was obvious: shoot. Otherwise if they sat outside and were a nuisance, call the cops. If they hung around withthe intention of causing harm of abducting someone, call the cops. If they call the cops and make a complaint and the cops come out, cooperate and don't say a thing, get a lawyer and deal with that. That is the civilized way to deal with this matter. People who think lynching is the best have a name: INMATE. You want to be Clint Eastwood and tell the punks to: "Get offa my lawn" enjoy, but if you act like an ass and commit a crime under the guise of your form of justice, you will be a prisoner before long. -

Exactly and if Chicago had won the Olympics I don't see it as being a memorable ocassion either. It is so immaterial either way. -
Usually its me running the US down, welcome to the club

careful, there, Lucky - I'm assuming you are also pro-union, so the pecking order must be supported in your answer even though it conflicts with your other philosophies..... You can have unionization and allow for seniority while reducing class disparity. Union seniorty can be realized within while reducing class disparity without. "seniority" huh? nothing about skill and talent? Seniority is how unions establish rank, that was the context with which I wrote that. If you've ever worked a trade job, you know talent is trumped by popularity.

Not you.

Exactly, they need to be more radical, a new Republican approach. Pls, put more combative, radical nuts in your party so we can stay in power.

Where did they go? I think some obstained in November, some went to the Dems as well IMO. They were just an accessory to the fiscal RW anyway, they would throw them a bone evry so often, but it is and always has been about greed from the right.

How funny, I hit the prompt for a thread about the olympics and I get a presidential thread. Wait, wait, you say Obama is a Muslim and born in Africa, then why isn't he promoting a city somewhere in Africa for the olympics? Dude...what the f*ck are you talking about? I state, clearly, and in english, in the first sentence my meaning. I then elaborate on that, and summarize to continue a discussion. One which you chose not to participate in. My point is that all Obama haaters morph most threads back to Dems or Obama and how they are fucking the country up. I guess we were guilty of the same to your boy GWB.

Chicago and Tokyo just eliminated.

I don't avoid questions. OK, so it will raise the deficit which under vitually all years since our inception has increased. I read it as total spending more than taxing. Taht could be fixed 2 ways: cut spending in other areas or raise taxes....or just continue to be status quo and spend more than we tax. Before you make an argument that I claim HC won't add to the deficit, you need to claim where I have stated it won't add to it. I would like to see military expenditures cut 25% immediatley, that would be a savings enough to pay for it, altho I would like to see that with or w/o HC. I would like to see the rich, the top 10% let's say, taxed more regardless of HC or not. As with Clinton, he wanted a few things, most prominently HC and higher taxes, he got the latter and not the former. These things aren't tied at the hip. But there is no direct connection between your taxes and HC reform. You have Medicare/Medicaid as a direct tax, but a HC reform you do not. Just as if they draft a 200B warship/warplane contract, does that raise your taxes? No. Might it raise the debt? Probably. Legislatively, tax rates are not figured with a direct connection to expenditures for major issue like social svs and military. The RW wants to make it appear that way, but it is not so. Trying to compare a private sport to a national HC emergency isn't even relevant. Airspeed could never win another competition and all would be well. We spend more on HC than nations with uni-care and we deliver less, so this is an emergency that the party with the R has ignored. Now, let's demonize Obama for fixing this. Of course it's not an emergency for you since you have HC, just as if you were a white in 1850 slavery wouldn't be an issue for you.

How am I not relaxed? I'm just debating an issue. How does the free market play into a lynch mob nabbing a guy under the threat of violence? -

Without posting what I wrote it's impossible to answeer. But I guess you don't have a point. Is the air so thin up on your "I speak for the emasculated masses" soapbox that you can't remember whay you said and put it in proper context? I'll sue!! I'll tell mommy!! I'll hold my breath!! Just different tantrums from the same 'somebody else take care of me' mindset. In this situation the victims manned up and took care of things. The perpertrator manned up and took responsibility. I'm glad for both of them. How is it that I speak for anyone emasculated or how have I been emasculated? Because I'm not a tough Republican? That's a joke. Dude, drop the R's tough / Dem's weak rhetoric, that went out when Reagan did nothing to counter the attacks on the Beirut barracks attack. So getting a bunch of necks together and lynching is more manly than being a legal citizen? Law and order is a just a TV show and not reality. Self-directed violence is better than calm deliberation? They have a name for people who behave like you suggest; inmates. It's not that I couldn't act like an animal, it's that I choose not to. In this situation the victims manned up and took care of things. Allegedly baased upon the thug's statement. Of course the fear of violence played a part. -
Actually with the nuber of sexual/homosexual incidents from the core of the RW, the religious secttor has gone too.

Yea, I don't like him either, but that was a great approach. It appears *some* Repubs have figured out what it will take to regain prominence. People don't get it, but the Limbaugh's help keep R's out of the WH and Congress.
