Are you an American or a republican? That is the question.
Lucky... replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
They already have been deteriorated; look at the demise of slavery that this country was founded upon; the bastards stole it away. Next thing ya know they'll let women vote; that's when I break out my guns. It was a political statement saying: - GWB = bad choice - Obama = good choice Don't read into it, you'll drive yourself crazy. -
Kinda hard to tax the poor. Remember, money is taxed, not people. Don't like taxes, don't move money. so it really is all about arbitrary lines then. No, it's all about 'follow the money.' How can you tax the lower 80% when 93% of all cash is above them? Isn't that like trying to milk an Elk?

So you'd prefer bureaucrats in Washington get Bill Gates's $58 billion dollars instead of him donating it to his foundation? You'd like Chris Dodd to decide what to do with it as opposed to having it go towards HIV research, or Education? Don't you care about the children? Or do you just prefer to use the pretext of charity as a means to further your own agenda? I prefer all taxes be higher, esp for the rich so we can close the gap a bit and decrease the debt one day. Either do it on our own or it will be done for us.

Is that state or what? What is the employer? I find it hard to believe, is there a website? the way I read it was that when he said at my property insinuated that he was paying these employees to work on his property. you may have missed those 3 words if you just skimmed the second paragraph. I see BART up there too. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/07/03/BAGGMDILA21.DTL BART says it already pays average wages of $64,428 a year for members of its two largest unions, the Service Employees International Union 790 and the Amalgamated Transit Union 1555. Workers in those unions, which represent 2,300 of the district's nearly 3,000 employees, also receive an average benefits package of $29,750. Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/07/03/BAGGMDILA21.DTL#ixzz0TXmunMKU So we have 34k and 64k, I don't see 75k and I don't see starting or not. Agreed they are paid well, but I don't seee the other wages of 75-80k as Brett was talking about. I imagine some obscure locations pay that, but I can also find aberrations, let's talk mainstream. I get accused of hating rich people, which is false, I wonder how others would react to hating the little guy. Esp bizzare when some people who would denounce wages for the little guy are the little guy. -
Probably not statistically proveable either way. Actually only 9, I thought it was higher. Still, even with the worst situation, 1/2 the house generally belongs to the surviving spouse. I'm not backing off, where did I say it should all go to the government. I think inheritance taxes s/b steep, but there s/b exceptions where there was a family unit with minors, etc. In cases where the deceased had no minor children it s/b steep. And I don't see you easing off your stance on HC if I were to put a face to it. I think inheritance is an area where much discretion is needed. Kinda hard to tax the poor. Remember, money is taxed, not people. Don't like taxes, don't move money.

Right! Well, except chromium. Oh, and manganese. But other than those we have everything we need. Except platinum. And cobalt, don't forget cobalt. Did I mention neodymium? Oh, and tin, and nickel, and diamonds, and gold. Yea but we have the best god damned maccaroni and cheese that Kraft..... world reknown and desired; they can't live w/o us.

I remember that Clinton guy didn't do too bad. Seems as tho he turned a deficit into a surplus and leveled off a 12-year debt increase of 250B/yr. That GHWB guy didn't do too bad either, considering he had to fight his own party that wanted 8 more years of failed Reaganomics....he refused and was outed by his own.

We've already spent 1,000 billion on teh war and they don't like us, so you're saying to leave? I couldn't agree more.
-
I agree, we out to go kill a few hundred thouand people of a foreign land, that always brings us back on our feet.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/the-demise-of-the-dollar-1798175.html I'm surprised it took so long for somebody to post this. I predicted a long time ago (on this site) that the world has had enough of American imperialism and other countries were going to gang up on the USA, military wise and economicaly wise. This is just the beginning. It isn't going to be pretty. The USA needs to back off fucking w/ everybody and take care of their own. There isn't a damn thing we need from other countries. We have everything we need right here. Seal and guard the borders. Fuck the rest of the world. Flame away people. Flame away? Why, that was brilliant.

And the Dems led teh way in teh 20th century for 4 of teh 5 wars, inclu WWII; are they unpatriotic? To say you were young and dumb? -
Ya, he's had like 9 months, what's taking him so long? \Dude The nomination had to be in by January!!! No way. Really. Well, I dunno then And no one knew what Obama would do as he was elected or entered office. I stand by my assertion; the world via the Nobel committee wanted to wish Obama to do positive things after the mess that Bush left. It was basically a housewarming gift. Well I am glad it works for you

Right, even with a trust I believe it goes thru probate. I'm not an expert in this area, but it really isn't yours because there is no you. Come on, counselor, give me a tough one. For one, it would be rare to find a married couple w/o a joint deed w/rights of survivorship. And most states would recognize community property and the house wouldn't change hands; all property would become the sole property of the surviving spouse. Your example is so abstract it's irrelevant. The surviving spouse would become the totle holder. Let's use another example of a rich lawyer who dies and is worth 10 million. The state would get a share and teh family / heirs the rest.

Proud and optimistic. BTW, this is a political thread, the president might come up on occassion. Yet he has. The first quarter of 09 the GDP was -6.4, the 2nd it jumped to -1.0, a really great improvement. -

The original question was something like how the Dems have fucked us, wasn't it? You still haven't established that with your microcosm of an argument. Of all military toys transport acft are the least of our worries, not to mention Obama urged against it. Again, show us how teh Dems have fucked us. It depends upon who voted for it. For example NAFTA was initiated by GHWB, then the Dem controlled congress passed it with overwhelming Repub support, even tho they were a minority. That was more Repub than Dem. Then Clinton signed it. That was an issue that was more systemeic, but it had more Repub support. Again, you're looking for a microcosm of an argument to make a major point. Let's talk debt and other longterm major issues. I would rather look at the budget, the issues, the intent and the result as a whole rather than a microcosm. I can take any fragment and make a point that might not be representative of the truth. -

Most do, generally management does not, but even they can. What the original author of that statement was talking about is FDR's FLSA of 1938. Then your boy went and limited it with the Overtime Law he shoved thru congress, took him over 3 years to get it thru. It was entitled the Overtime Law, it was aimed at primarily RN's, but I think it was Walmart who took it to teh limit and tried to compel regular workers to fall under it. Who can't unionize? Are you confusing that for can't strike? Not sure how that pertains to the issue. -

I think you grossly overestimate my"Giveafuck" on this. Rage?? No, more like bewildered amusement. I do not hate B.O., He is my President. I do disagree with many of his Ideas (Not all, BTW). I respect many of his accomplishments. I truly want to see him succeed as president as long as that does not mean undermining the Core American Principals such individual freedom, self-reliance, equality of opportunity, hard work, material wealth, and competition. I do love that the "effort" is what is being rewarded and not actual accomplishments. I personally find it completely fucking Hilarius. It's very unusual to be awarded the Nobel for things to come. Perhaps GWB and GOP shouls share in his reward, as it was the contrast that made Obama look as good as he does. -

Could you be a little more broad? How have teh Dems failed the country? How about this? Last week a democratic-majority senate voted to fund a miltary program that the white house and pentagon tried to cancel to save tax dollars and don't even want. Politicians are politicians, I'd put down the pom-poms if I were you. OK, so due to the fact that 10 C-17's are going to come out of the already-existing military budget, this fully illustrates how the Dems have failed the country????? Remember, per your own link: But a bipartisan group of senators, in a 64-34 vote, thwarted the effort to strike $2.5-billion for 10 additional C-17s from the annual defense spending bill. So this was bipartisan and comes from the already-established bill, it isn't from extra funding. 2.5B from 600B is nothing, but most importantly, it was bipartisan and Obama was against it as was McCain. This is a microcosm of an issue and you have not tied to it Obama or the Dems. Is that the best you can do? -
Guess we must spend our way out of this huh....

Oh what a sharp mind! On board since 4 days and already knows "exactly" ...... edited for error Christel sticking up for the Rushmeister.....what next, Obama getting the Nobel? -
Then perhaps you will be in the running next year. I think that occured long before Clinton as with the Beirut barracks. And before that the 72 olympic massacre in Munich where they used guns; don't see how the method determines the madness. I agree it's unusual, but probably a jesture of 'please get that country under control.' Cutting who's benefits?

1 - it's not a bandwagon - it's a horsecart 2 - I didn't jump on it, I drive it - and mix and serve the tequila based drinks try to keep up Do you buy twice as many pairs of socks when you shop? just so you can throw away the right sock from each pair? Well then you must have gotten drunk and fell off it then. My response wasn't partisan, I was responding to someone else who wrote the following: How the hell can Obama be even slightly qualified to get that prize. Because he is black and won the presidency? He only won because anyone with an IQ smaller than an ashtray would never have voted for someone with his qualifications. And there are a lot of dummies in this Country. Anyone with a brain is his head would have researched his background and found he had no more qualifications to become president than Bullwinkle. Not saying his opponent would have been great, but at least he had some qualifications. As for partisan, I think Eisenhower and GHWB were great presidents and really the only war heroes we've had for some time. Reagan = coward, GWB = coward, Clinton = draft dodger. Hard to be partisan when I think a pres as recent as 16 years ago from the other party was great.
