  1. I think the Nazi's have won again. Anyone still stupid enough to think that during Bush's last 2 years when the senate was 49-49-2 that the Dems owned the Senate? Liebernazi was and is pro-war and adamantly pulled for McCain in the 2008 election, as well as other pro-Nazi stances. When will the Dems wise up and kick that turd back to his party? Having him caucus as a Dem is like having a rival football team player sit in our huddle. This should work, the Dems took away a couple small Senate positions from Liebernazi after the Dems won in 2008, then apologized and said he wouldn't be such a dick, well he is, so the Dems have to oust that trash. Great Post! Thank You You have made my day

  3. You think Lieberman's a Democrat? That's a good one. Just like Snow is a Republican, ya, I get your point, However, you may want to look at a few more news sites. Lieberman is far from being alone. Also, in all fairness, I doubt the "option" is really dead at this time. Just delayed a bit for now Liebernazi is a total R, Snow is a moderate Republican; she wasn't all about a public option either, just more deep reform.
  4. You think Lieberman's a Democrat? That's a good one. I know, he campaigned for McCain in 08. Hell, in 06 his own party then, the Dems wouldn't nominate him in the primary. So he ran as an indep and was elected by 2/3 vote from registered R's. When will the Dems wise up, strip him of all duties and send him to teh R's where he belongs?

  6. Just like you... But to be like you, I would have to throw an insult or two at anyone that does not agree with me. I think we all insult people from time to time; virtually all of us well including you and me. Now, onto the regularly scheduled argument. I constantly post data to support my assertion, you rarely do.
  7. We'll hold our breath until he gets working again. These stats are based upon an acumulation, not an individual. My work is sporadic too, but that doesn't mean the economy isn't getting better as a whole.
  8. Actually the 82/83 period had worse unemployment although not as sharp a stock market or Real GDP fall. That was due to Reagan and the Fed chair contracting the money supply to halt inflation. Of course that was the elitist approach that hurt the poor and MC and drove unemp to 10.8%. A better approach is what Obama is doing, stimulating rather than punishing.
  9. I know, I'm trying ot deceive the conservatives who, as we know, are the real Americans and the only ones who love this country. W/o them we would be spending rubbles.
  10. For all technical purposes once we have 1 + GDP Q then it is over, but in realistic terms it isn't over until the indicators are somehwere near normal. Hopefully that will be within a year.
  11. The 3 major components of the economy are: - GDP - Stock market - Umemp The market hit 10k, dropped a couple hundred but holding, and now the GDP is going to be ~ +3.0% they say, which is a 4% improvement from last quarter, an amazing jump and teh 2nd jump since Obama took office and applied his stimulus. GDP 1st Q - -6.4 GDP 2nd Q - -1.0 GDP 3rd Q - +3.0 (projected) So that's a 5.4% gain and a 4% gain consecutively, I think we can say Obama has handled the economy well so far. But the 3rd looming head is the unemp which has slowed, but is still climbing. I can't think of a recession ever that the unemp rate hasn't been the lagger, so this is typical, but when then that is fixed we're home safe. Hopefully all can be better and unemp < 5% within a year. If so, taking the worst economic times since the GD, so the 2nd worst economic times ever, fixing them in < 2 years would be enormous and probably lead to 400+ EV's in 2012 and certainly lead to a monsterous Congressional lead in the 2010 midterm. Either way, hitting +3% is huge, a lot more than I expected.
  12. I vote Libertarian any time that; (a) my vote won't matter because the state I live in leans so heavily one way (California) or the other (Idaho), or; (b) the GOP candidate is from the "moral majority" segment of that party. I do vote for a fair number of Republicans. I've also (substantially less often) voted for some Democrats. But most of the time I end up voting for a Libertarian who has no chance of winning. And people poo-poo my assertion that Repubs and Libertarians are but a few degrees apart????? I've voted for a Libertarian for President, and donated to a Libertarian primary campaign. I've never voted for a Republican for President, and I was a delegate for Obama. Blues, Dave Well that settles it, 1 guy breaks the mold so that impeaches my assertion! There are aberrations everywhere, let's look at major themes and iconic people. Ron Paul is a great place to start, he was on Reagan's campaign crew, I thinka manager, then he rejected the Republican Party and in 08 he ran for office as a Repub in the primaries. It's no secret that many/most Libertarians started out life as a Republican, but now embrace Libertarian ideals, but many still vote Repub as they know a Liber vote is a wasted vote. As well, I'm still registered R but haven't voted R since Dole. So there are all kinds of anomolies in politics, but I think it's well known that R logic and L logic aren't that far apart.
  13. Your personal definitions do not equal fact. Fact is they are moving towards capitalism and THAT is what is making them so powerful. Baed upon the most Capitalist nation in the world being the biggest debtor . You make more and more sense every time I read your brilliance. China still has a Communist collectivist system, they still have universal HC and all kinds of social and fiscal Communist controls; how are they Capitalist? Capitalism or Communism has to do with the means of production within, not their place on the global market as in how they distribute these goods, I think you have the two confused.
  14. I'm curious. What are you basing this statement on? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus Look at the orders and deliveries. Altho Boeing has delivered 1 more het so far this year, the sales are on the side of Airbus by lmosr double. Also, the 787 is going to urt Boeing deeply, over a year behind and still hasn't even flown yet. Airbus passed Boeing years ago. I guess if you count all US aviation the US might be in the lead, but it's slipping and Airbus hasn't been around all that long - 25 years or so and they've trumped the Boeing/Douglas conglomeration.
  15. You have made many claims and never provided one shred of data or evidence to support it. I am only playing your own game by your own rules. AKA true, I am not providing any support for my claim, it is just a whimiscal opinion.
  16. And the Emancipation Proclamation shifted some burden to the non-slaves, Medicare/Medicaid shifted some burden to the working class, etc. We can whine about what a burden things are or worry more about the health and ability to pursue hapiness we have within our country. That is what seperates this country from others, that and the fact that we are on the verge of financial collapse yet we have a lot of the richest people on earth via low taxes.
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_the_United_States Education in the United States is mainly provided by the public sector, with control and funding coming from three levels: federal, state, and local. Child education is compulsory. A sub-type of compulsory education is public education. Do you have any data as to the proportion of expenses bore? I didn't see any, but the feds do pay and that goes on the rubber check. Look at the recent stimulus additon to pay someteachers salaries to keep them on. I should have said "state sales tax and local property tax" rather than just "state and local property tax," but here is what I was reading through when I wrote the response. It's somewhat Illinois-centric but there's a great map on page 12 that shows the breakdown of federal, state, and local funding for education across the country. Dr. Kallend argues that a tax is a tax is a tax, but the truth is, the further that a dollar gets from its taxpayer, the less likely it becomes that that dollar will be spent in that taxpayer's interest (directly or indirectly.) This makes taxpayers understandably skeptical of federal social programs intended to benefit "the masses." I think that's the concern at the heart of the thread. You and he can think yourselves too altruistic to be pestered by such concerns, but well... flies, honey, vinegar, etc. That's real nice and all, but I was rippewd and had to fend for myself as a kid; I basically had no parents, which is why I don'y pay hommage to the diddy rule. Also, I had to run away to the military when I was 17 and get my own education as an adult. So I envy your position, but in soooo many cases a little utopian. It sounds like you went through something very similar to what my father faced. He went from a bad send off, to giving his kids every advantage he could in just one generation. I'm thankful for the kind of effort he put in and owe a lot of where I am now to him. I'm reminded of my sig line when I think about it. You're really lucky, I don't talk to my so-called parents and refer to them as sperm donor/egg donor. A parent doesn't have to have 1 shred of genetic relation to be a parent, conversely that isn't a necessary qualification either. I see a lot of that tho, people of a generation with shit for parents can overcompensate and spoil their kids, then those kids grow up and ignore/abuse their kids, those kids spoil their kids, etc. I just say I lost the lottery in the parent pool. They're great citizens, law abiding, but shit for parents.
  18. Please don't go down that road, Mr. Spellcheck/Proofread. So posts that are quickly written and sometimes have a few grammatical errors that are loaded with substance and citations are not intelligently written, versus quick one-liners from righties? Yea, I guess if you're out of gas you defer to grammatical mistakes.
  19. Aviation flight control counterweights are made of that. We've beeen using it for decades, not sure if we still do.
  20. And I wanted LESS. I detested the nuns CONSTANTLY limiting and restricting my thoughts and deeds. To each... there is a balance. Well yea, religious oppression is nutty. My pareents criminal endagerment/abandonment is far extreme, nutty religious schools are abusive in their own rights; I just wanted "normal" parents and got shit. All we seem to have in this country are extremists.
  21. in case you missed it, China is moving towards capitalism and that is why they own so much US debt. They're a loooooooong way from it. I wouldn't even say they are at Socialism yet, but probably close, which is why they ar so successful. IF they cross Socialism and make it to Capitalism they will see their downfall loom, but they are nowhere near Capitalism.
  22. Pssst, don't anyone tell Pirana that horrible Socialist W Europe has beat the economic indebted powerhouse USA as aviation leader in the world and many other sectors too. And they did it by still federally ensuring 4-9 weeks of vacation per year and a comprehensive medical package. I tend to agree that Communism and Capitalism have a lot in common. That has been my contention for a long time, look at the distribution of wealth.
  23. Intentional "misunderstanding" to create a straw man. It lets them rant about how libertarians just want to kill and eat the weak. No, they just want to ignore them and let them dry up and blow away.
  24. Right, Nutty Paul's back and forth I'm a Libertarian - no wait I'm a Libertarian psychosis gets 3% every election cycle and he and his electorate are right, we're all wrong???? And they call the cessation of virt all social svs a right. So just declare everything in your desires a right and there ya go. Libertarians want to make a nation of 300M like that of a rogue nation of 20,000. Uh huh, it might be written in a flowery way, butteh result would be an ever more lopsided disparity of wealth and massive outbreaks of poverty and starvation until all was trashed. Oh I have in the past and it's nice and vague; full of flowery BS. Show me their process on how to attack poverty, social welfare, HC for the 47M, etc, etc... I know, let the churches take care of it. What a joke.
  25. Yea, they treid that pre-Civil War; how did that work out?
