  1. And I was hoping the thread starter would explain all this: I won But yea, these deals are often written as thought reversers and I hate that. Why not propose: Gay Marriage: yes or no.
  2. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091103/ap_on_el_ge/us_election_rdp Articel written Nov 2, 2009, days after I wrote this thread title. Economists say the recession is over but jobs aren't reappearing and unemployment is still expected to hit 10 percent. So all the people who got panties wadded up, this is obviously what I was saying. THREAD TITLE: It's official; recession is over, but.... STATEMENT IN ARTICLE: Economists say the recession is over but jobs aren't reappearing and unemployment is still expected to hit 10 percent. As I've repeated several times, that is what I was saying.
  3. Where do I charge my battery? I envision gas stations having battery swaps or charging. In fact there may be battery stations, but the automakers will have to standardize so people can swap out. Also, they need to get battery technology to give us 200 miles per charge and not have to drag 30 batteries around. Alos, places that need A/C are gonna have a tough time as it drags big time. So we're a ways away, but a great start, don't you think?
  4. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091103/ap_on_el_ge/us_election_rdp What's more, the GOP's ranks are thinning: Only 32 percent of respondents called themselves Republicans in a recent AP-GfK survey compared with 43 percent who called themselves Democrats. Yep, shrinking base. It's considered an embarassment to align with the Repubs. Also, the party's power center is mostly limited to the South, the one region McCain dominated last fall; Obama won almost everywhere else — including making inroads in emerging powerhouse regions like the West, although Republicans still solidly control several lightly populated states in the area. With an electoral college, concentrated votes are a bad thing, you need dispersion. Good lucky, righties - you'll need it.
  5. which ones? Cars that run on steam or solar panels? I'm exited to know! Tell me! Tell me! Electric. Didn't Obama send a few Billion to electric car development? And someone just posted a thread about nuclear power facilities. I think some interest is in alternate fuels, but mostly electric, that will be the bridge to alt fuels, as they will take longer.
  6. Does a yes legalize it or abolish it as in a state constitutional amendment? COme on bro, gotta give us the details, there are a couple Americans who don't live in Maine!
  7. Actually it's not dramatic or radical. The world runs on oil, like it or not. If you have a viable alternative that is more cost effective bring it on! There are several, we are exploring them and we better do it fast for environmental, fisccal and world reliance reasons. The last turd thought oil forever was just great.
  8. like in pittsburgh? Where his constituents ruined property? Or in DC when Republicans gathered and there wasn't a single piece of litter on the ground afterward.. Violent Opposition??? From CNN? MSNBC? NPR?? Tug of war my ASS he doesn't need a SINGLE FUCKING REPUBLICAN VOTE ?? Do you understand what that means ?? His admin can draw up whatever they dream and vote it into law without a single republican participating. :) Um thank you Lieberman; do you know what that means? He's the so-called Dem, so-called indep that was voted in by 2/3 R's and votes that way on all the big issues, so a fillibuster is very possible. The sky isn't falling.
  9. I can't wait to see that 737 outfitted with electric motors just humming through the sky!! They're working on a synthetic blend of jet fuel. It will be a slow process, but one that needs to start now.
  10. Oil is involved in roughly 80% of all manufacturing worldwide. It's in everything. plastics/polymers/air travel/food production/communication/robotics/healthcare/ you name it. How the fuck am I "addicted" to oil? Because I like the rubber case on my Iphone? My 05Malibu? My sabre2 parachute? My FOX 285? My TV? My furnace heating my house? My waterproof boots? My watch? Oil is in everything and if Obama wants to "get out of oil" then he should simply sign legislation to make oil illegal in the US. !! Well isn't that a bit dramatic and radical? We willnever be w/o oil in our lifetimes, but we need to quit using 25% of the world's oil, that's what Obama means.
  11. Nope. Gas prices spiked with the Gulf War and immediately with the Iraq War: http://zfacts.com/p/35.html It crashed as the market crashed, so that probably had a lot to do withthe crashing, but prices still aren't back to pre-Iraq War times. The Iraq War has plenty to do with it. Don't forget the supply side and collusion. When? How are you sure they will? Not saying they won't, but how can you asssure they will? Or just tax gas more so the guzzlers pay that way. But income and corp profit taxes need to virtually double.
  12. I dunno, I guess I would have to know more about what they pay now, what other nations tax them on, etc. But we have to raise taxes on a lot of things and become less addicted to oil at the same time for meore reasons than just money. We are very lucky to have a president that is for this.
  13. That would be tough because the oil price plummeted during the last few months of the Bush Admin. Did the oil prices have anything to do with Iraq? I think so, as they doubled during the Gulf War. Who's fault was teh Iraq War?
  14. I'm sure Japan would like to lend us their portable 'nukular' reactors, we lent them 2 of ours 60 some years ago. Seriously, I'm all about nuclear power, bring it all on. What I can't wait for are the street cars, electric is light and raps up IMMEDIATELY. It'll be fun watching the street kids racing around. It'll also be fun to watch the OPEC. There will still be a huge demand for oil considering airlines and military.
  15. After working in the nuclear power industry for years I know first hand how many misconceptions there really are in the general public about nuclear power. I agree with George, this should have been done years ago. Not issuing licenses for 30 years over public fear and lack of education has been counterproductive. Nuclear really is the most ideal option available. Many people like to worry about nuclear waste but have never worked with, measured, or counted 'nuclear waste' and really have no idea what it really is. I have. If they did, they would be really surprised as to what the fuss is all about. I eat that shit for breakfast.
  16. No, no ,no, I won't hear of it, Bush was a gem. Pls don't change; I want my guys in for the longest possible time.
  17. -A tax on oil profits? -More stimulas for hybrid/electric car purchases? I say these.
  18. The chart I provided, page 14, shows serious icing starts at 20F to 80F http://www.ece.okstate.edu/old/abet/Assessment/Program%20Level/Capstone%20Reports/CarburetorIcingRiskDetectionSystem.pdf Post your data. I also posted at least 1 other data ref that states 20F is when icing is most susceptable; that is the standard. And that's what I said from step 1. Unlike you, I have done this 20 years ago, you never. Curious how I respond just that and you act as tho you're saying something new - you still look silly. Nice cut-n-paste. That's not the same as the process of swelling and drawing a rivet. In your little office world that might be, but NO ONE in the field refers to swelling and drawing a blind rivet; no publication, no person, no one. I would be fired if I went to a shop and suggested I swell and draw a Cherrymax . They would think I'm some kind of fucking newb. If you ever shot a rivet, I could call you a newb, now you're a pre-newb. And as I said, you will take a 1-step operation and drag it to 50. It's hillarious that a white collar desk rider theinks he can tell a lifelong acft mech, FAA lic mech w/IA how shit goes. You're my age and you have 10 more years, meaning you started at 7 or 8. Yiou can't accept defeat, can you? Nice google, obviously a cut-n-paste, but you are so far off on your guess. I've seen guys use an English wheel like 3 times. On big skins we might, but usually they come in hydroformed. But still, the same applies to them. Oh, and your material types: 3003, 5052, 6061. They're a joke. If you need a part welded you would use 6061, but the other aluminums are not used today and haven't been in major acft manufaturing for some time if ever. We use 2024 T-3, 7075 T-6 for 90% of the aluminum needs. But what you were supposed to google and missd was that when forming compunds where you can't form with a wheel, which is almost never used, you use 2024-O or 7075-O. "O" material is not hardened, it very malleable, even at .100 thickness. So you make forming blocks, perhaps drill a tooling hole if needed, then form the O material over the blocks or presses as it were. The you heat threat it by saltbath, which has been done away with, now tehy use an oven to heat the material for 24 hours, quench and let harden for 24 hours usually. So you missed that too. I knew you would because you can't google these. Oh and the chem mill? Where's that? You couldn't google it successfully so you ran? Oh why the stock market? How did that enter? Care to support? If we play your way, it recovered 75 pts today. You can't explain the jump to 10k, how do you explain the staying at 9800? Isn't it supposed to dive, according to you? I'm calling blue collar workers stupid for being pro-company when it comes to labor disputes. Really weak try at the parts forming question, I expected you to find a better cut-n-paste than that. BTW, you must be proud of your occupation to post it.
  19. What? 2 years, are you talkinmg Jan 93 to Jan 95? Try the Dems owned congress from Jan 87 to Jan 95. "Yes, Sir, President Reagan, President Bush." President Reagan, pres Bush what? Put it together. While you're at it, answer my point: Try the Dems owned congress from Jan 87 to Jan 95. As much as I'm partisan, I'm not totally partisan. GHWB and Clinton were virtually the same president, they cut spending and increased taxes. Reagan and GWB were the same pres; cut taxes and pump spending, pump the debt. So just because Reagan and GHWB were from the same party, GHWB was not a Reagan, he didn't think debt was cool, he didn't puss out of the war, and disn't spend most of his term in diapers. The Dems owned congress from Jan 87 to Jan 95, when the tax increases were done. Virtually all of these taxes stayed in place thru the Clinton years and the debt virtually leveled off and deficit turned to a huge surplus.
  20. More folksy, antiquated rhetoric.
  21. I disagree. Look, I don't waer it like a badge either, but it appears that you are somewhere left. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! Damn...thanks, dude - I haven't laughed that hard in MONTHS. There's Mike and his valuable contribution.
  22. Actually, that's not true. The vast majority of it comes of Saudi Arabia. Just like most all 911 terrorists.
  23. Lucky's just getting a little defensive. Its starting to dawn on him that he and others might have to pay for their own health insurance. No, I will have the rich guys pay for it just to piss off the poor Republicans who, for some reason, feel the need to protect the rich so the rich can in turn take a dookie all over them too. Even though you hate the rich, don't bet on getting that free lunch/healthcare ride. Put some cash aside. & come 11; daddy needs a new prostate . I don't hate the rich, I hate any system, Capitlaism, Communism, etc that has such a wide disparity of wealth and so many piss-poor.
  24. I'd say the worst enemies of Republicans are Republicans. Agreed. Don't tell them tho
