  1. That depends upon what the defintion of, "is" is. You can take any argument to ridiculous extremes and you have. IT'S ON THE FUCKING PRIVATE PILOT EXAM, but you say no. For all intents and purposes, ice starts at 20 degrees F, the FAA PP exams focus on that number. If I had clarified and said ice is most prevalent from 20 to 70, you would have replied by saying I didn't clarify that it s/b 50% humidity. If I included that you would have said I didn't specify the dew point. If I had, you would have looked for a typo. You had some sissy 20 degree timed turn that wasn't even correct, 20 degrees is only 1 aspect of it, but it's a round number so I won't be a loser and say that actually it's 18 degrees or perhaps 22. You can argue anything out of relevance and into futility, and you do well at it, the point is that you threw the number, "20 degrees" out there, so a recip pilot will normally think survival and think you are refering to probable ice conditions. An ATP of 737's might think turns, but we weren't talking that. Remember, I did not have sexual relations with that woman, and remember, ice can be present any time, an temp, no specific conditions
  2. One issue at a time so you don't run from the others. I wrote: And carb ice, it can happen any time, but you focus on primary susceptability and that is between 20 and 70 F, > than 50% humidity, I don't care you silly you want to get pretending you are in 100% humidity and refer to light ise, which teh FAA says, per your citation, that" Caution - light icing over a prolonged period may become serious. You answered: You said carb icing starts at 20F. Very simple, straightforward remark. Unfortunately it is wrong. I told you why and provided FAA documentation. So YOU can go tell the FAA they are wrong, don't tell me. I will hold by the rule of thumb that icing can happen in virtually any weather conditions, thank you. I would rather be watching for it and not get it then vice versa. Going back I wrote: Post 56: I am right, just as carb icing is most prevalent at 20F. And: The chart I provided, page 14, shows serious icing starts at 20F to 80F http://www.ece.okstate.edu/...kDetectionSystem.pdf AND THE FAA: http://www.faa.gov/.../newyork/ENROUTE.htm Carburetor Ice - Three categories of carburetor ice are: •Impact ice formed by impact of moist air at temperatures between 15-32°F on airscoops, throttle plates, heat valves, etc. Usually forms when visible moisture such as rain, snow, sleet, or clouds are present. Most rapid accumulation can be anticipated at 25°F. •Fuel ice forms at and downstream from the point that fuel is introduced when the moisture content of the air freezes as a result of the cooling caused by vaporization. It generally occurs between 40-80°F, but may occur at even higher temperatures. It can occur whenever the relative humidity is more than 50%. •Throttle ice is formed at or near a partly closed throttle valve. The water vapor in the induction air condenses and freezes due to the venturi effect cooling as the air passes the throttle valve. Since the temperature drop is usually around 5°F, the best temperatures for forming throttle ice would be 32-37°F although a combination of fuel and throttle ice could occur at higher ambient temperatures. _______________________________________________ On the FAA written it's 20 and 70 also as being most susceptable. http://www.coryat.com/faa-pp-written/index10.html Which condition is most favorable to the development of carburetor icing? ANSWER: Temperature between 20 and 70F and high humidity. When the temperature is between 20F and 70F with visible moisture or high humidity, one should be on the alert for carburetor ice. During low or closed throttle settings, an engine is particularly susceptible to carburetor icing. The possibility of carburetor icing exists even when the ambient air temperature is as ANSWER: high as 70F and the relative humidity is high. When the temperature is between 20F and 70F with visible moisture or high humidity, one should be on the alert for carburetor ice. During low or closed throttle settings, an engine is particularly susceptible to carburetor icing. ________________________________________________ So your entirement argument stems around abstraction, as in ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. This is true, but ridiculous if you want to make a point, great if you want to run from one. I bet you thought Clinton was being a liar when he said that a BJ is not sex. See, he's splitting hairs to get of of heat. By you saying anything can happen at any time you are doing teh same. What's next, are you going to ask us the defintion of is? And that's a relevant question, as "is" can be a directive, an inquiry or probably a conjunction and other forms. But in real circles we know he's trying to dice a word apart to justify his lie. Here, we have you intoducing a broad statement like: What is 20 degrees in aviation? OK, a PP or even a commercial, multi, etc who flies recip engines is going to say where carb icing begins as a general reference, more specifically where icing is most prevailent. A commecial pilot might give the answer you gave about coordinated, timed turns, esp if they no longer fly recips. But I guarantee you if you are on a checkride with a DFE or CFI and you miss the question when he's looking for carb icing is most prevalent, starts at, etc - he's gonna ding ya if you don't know it's 20F. And if you start yanking his dick over some chart where the FAA says it can start anytime, anywhere so there is no ABSOLUTE answer, they're gonna wanna run from you. Yes, carb icing and stalls can happen at any time, any attitude, any airspeed, any temp, any humidity, any time of day or night, but tehy have prevalencies and THOSE ARE WHAT YOU REFER TO, EVEN ON THE FAA WRITTEN. So your Clintonesque running is noted by all. Hell, we know what you're made of, you blocked me on PM for allegedly hurting your feelings, so I posted the PM's here and you didn't address it. You are who we know you are. You should man up and admit you erred with the 20 degree question. When I go to the airport today, as I do most days, I will ask all the licensed pilots there what 20 degrees means to them and get back. You fucked up, own it like a man.
  3. Who are the morons who make this stuff up I could say but I would get kicked off here
  4. You'd be laughed out,not burned. 2002 wasn't that good, all the jobs lost - not good. 2004-2006 were great, all that stolen mortgage money was out there that we're now paying for. But still tax receipts weren't that good even then. They would ask you why? They would refer to to many issues that states have/could fuckup and ask you why. Yes and it's ok and legal for the US gov to tax as tehy deem fit. No arguement, what you're really saying is that 99% of taxes shouldn't be - diff issue. I think we all agree upon that. You're a lwyer, you don't know that free speech has to be minimzed? So the Klan wants to go downtown and protest the N******? That's good? Well, we had a riot and burned the town down, but mother liberty is smiling. So who isn't for accountability? A roundabout way of saying, "Tax cuts, mt friends" helps the economy? I will ask again, show me a major fedral tax cut that has helped the economy. No, just stupid Seriously, Cheney = pure evil, GWB just dirt dumb. GWHB = a hero, great American and really descent guy. So ya see, they run the gammut. Business owners are great for the most part. Now that we'll burn you at the stake for. Uhhhhhhh, yea. When you are in a position of control and chose to be more humane, that defines a descent person. When you're in a position of power and you do self-serving things that result in others destruction, you're evil. The Dems, es the ones who are finacially set, are trying to get HC to the poor and MC masses; that is honorable, the opposition something < honorable.
  5. Post where I stated I was. Here is what you said: Those clauses are common to just about every major contract between a supplier and a builder. And Actually, I did. I have worked on many such contracts. Like I said, nothing new. You don't use the term, "contract specialist" but you carry the pseudo swagger as if you are. So instead of me running my mouth as if I've worked many contracts, I actually researched the issue and posted the contract term/strategy and even posted a sample Boeing contract with that clause. I think we're starting to the diffs between you and I. Did you ever use the statement, "expert in aircraft structure?" No, but you laid it out there and I shut you down on many fronts and you said, boo-hoo, I'm done with 20-questions, I don't wanna play anymore, I'm tired of getting my ass handed to me. I answered your ridiculous test, you refuse to answer mine - Game, set, match. I realize these aren't your words, but cut-n-pasted, but you transcribed: English wheels are great for forming 3003, 5052, 6061, etc. Which alloy to use depends upon how much cold working it will recieve, where it will be used, desired corrosion resistence, etc. But, at times lacking a wheel, sandbags and leather paddles do an acceptable job but its hard to beat a wheel for planishing out a weld. That doesn't act as if you're putting yourself as an expert? And oh, BTW Einstein, you claimed all alloys are good to be welded and I stated 6061, something that is obvious within MY career field: http://www.airpartsinc.com/products/Aluminum-sheets-2024T3-6061T6-3003-5052.htm 2024-T3 This is the most commom of the the high-strength alloys. Aircraft quaility. 2024 T3 aluminum sheet is thought of as the aircraft alloy because of it's strength. It has excellent fatigue resistance. Welding is generally not recommended. English wheels are so 1940 in acft, maybe on OC chopper where stuff is specialized, but it just isn't cost effective and the skil is gone so you would go thru a lot of material getting it right. Even in homebuilding it isn't used, they will fair joints with fiberglass and use straight lines and avoid sheetmetal contours. If they have to, the they use that "O" material you are unaware of and fab a forming block, then heat treat, but it is very expensive to heat treat for the small guy. For that Chieftain I reskinned after its 2nd belly-in, I had to remake all the bulkheads bewteen the keels, tehy were exactly 12" across and I made them 1/2 way up and spliced them onto the existing damaged frames/bulkheads. It was like $300 for like 8 of them and that didn't include hardness testing. So small guys don't deal with radiuses and compounds other than by using fiberglass fairings, big acft manufacturers use hydroforming and dies; the English wheel is a donosaur in aviation, too bad your cut-n-pasty didn't also tell you that. BTW, where did you allegedly use an English wheel on trailers ? You also said: With only 2 or 3 exception I have worked with, at one time or another, either in research or industry every alloy either of us have posted here and many more. That's hands-on work, not virtual. So did you put yourself off as an expert? YES, just because you didn't use the word, "expert." No, actually working with acft for a couple 3 decades will get you there. So just out of college you're a seasoned metalurgist. Then why aren't you bragging it up. I'm waiting for Kallend to quiz you and put you in your place as I have, I don't think he wants to play in this mess. I can't figure out why you aren't braggin it up and after all this crap you are just now easing it in.....could it be that IT'S BULLSHIT? Naw. Or you worked on a crew and you were the goffer and the seasoned vetrans of metalurgy did it, you just claimed the victory? And he basically said you're wrong; you do need to check fuel if there's time. No, you have your own dictionary, I was the one who coted it as being a minute out, 3/4 - 1 miles out; probably short of the field in many cases with an engine out. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4ADRA_enUS341US341&defl=en&q=define:short+final&ei=To_vSoyfD4iYMaK2oI4H&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title&ved=0CAsQkAE the last minute or so of an aircraft's flight path as it approaches an airfield or LZ. And I could be abstract like you and say that for a 747 short final could be 3 miles out, but that is not the context we are talking, but if it was you you would assert that, just as with light, menaingless icing. I answered it several times. As a PP, which is all I have claimed to be, all I have to do is understand teh effects of P Factor on an acft, and I did. See, I don;t cast myself as something I'mnot, hence get myself into a mess, as you did with the acft structure questions you have decided to run from after decalring that you know lots about acft structures. Sure, why not go back and answer teh bevy of questions you are running from. Funny to see you call me a fool when you refuse to answer a line of questions YOU STARTED. And you call me a fool Here, enjoy your wiggling some more about the short-final mumblinsg of you: Well, to be fair, i did concede that "short final" can and does mean different things to each pilot/aircraft combination. To me, flying 152/172s, my short final is that...SHORT!! For me it is the 200-300 feet before touchdown. And carb ice, it can happen any time, but you focus on primary susceptability and that is between 20 and 70 F, > than 50% humidity, I don't care you silly you want to get pretending you are in 100% humidity and refer to light ise, which teh FAA says, per your citation, that" Caution - light icing over a prolonged period may become serious. IOW's, it's not a big deal. See, yoiu have to be abstract to try to make a point rather than staying mainstream.
  6. Some of those illegal alien pussies need to be aware that territories like Guam and Puerto Rico all get SS too if eligible under US law as any American would be, maybe that will give the racists something to cry about.
  7. Most people vote along party lines, that's why I laugh when I hear people somehow winning due to more campaign spending. But whne it comes to debate, the conservative thing to do is to not infight, esp in front of the enemy. Typically conservatives are the biggest thinkers anyway, they hear a template for the way it s/b and follow it. Kinda like the diff bewteen christianity and sciecne; science begs you to disprove them, religion dares you to. You're interprting that - I'm not saying it. I think both parties, considering offshoots irrelevant for the most part, are partisan, the left infights and the right is very linear. I think several more R senators are coming up than Dems. We still have several months to figure out HC, so I think that will be a boost. I don't think any so-called swing voters will be fooled by the R's attempt to blame the recession on Obama and trying to make them believe that his recovery is anything but ahead of schedule is weak too. I see that as politicing in its own right and I guess you're basing that on the Clinton era. What you fail to infuse is that the Dems in congress enacted both tax increases in 1990 and 1993, the gov was basically inept with all teh fighting between 95 and 2001. The seeds were laid for 90's success way before the Jan 95 congressional takeovver. Other than than era, how do you make your case? When have we had a Dem pres and R congress and had great success?
  8. Come on kid, trailers, acft structure = same thing . Perhaps teh FAA might disagree. And Mr Pilot, 1 mile out and trying to glide in, can't wait to read about you, too bad you don't > once a year, you could make for good reading. Where'e the conspiracy, my party has more representation than we've had since teh 1960's - I think you have the sour grapes. Just because I made you reveal how silly you look as a trailer mechganic trying to pass as an acft structure specialist doesn't mean I think I'm any of those. Now go get a job as a wanna be trailer enginner. Really hard to fuck up designing something with no engine and the aerodynamics of a building. And still you work fast food, no, I don;t want fries with that.
  9. Whats funny is that your partisan blinders prevent you from seeing Libs doing the exact same thing.... that's just funny. There are no so blind as those that refuse to see. No, the lft will infight. I can go to a DNC rally and be pro-guns and really not get into a pissing contest, you couldn't go into an RNC rally and oppose gun w/o the music stopping and people treating you like a lepper.
  10. RESULT: When your party wins something, you claim it means something.... When your party loses, you claim it means nothing. Your partisan blinders are funny as hell. So explain Charlotte.
  11. Yea, losing 2 governor seats and gaining 1 in SC is a real slip Enjoy the upcoming HC
  12. You must have link the wrong article. None of those statements are in the link article. My bad http://www.realclearpolitics.com/news/ap/politics/2009/Nov/02/gop_victory_tuesday_won_t_erase_party_s_problems.html
  13. and that right there says so much about how this country got to where it is today. Such are the consequences of having our Constitution. That's how the Founding Fathers designed the system. my point was that from the statement, apathy was inferred. Apathy is bad for this country. Ah, who cares?
  14. No, but they will have to take SOME option - whether they want to or not. And teh idea is that you won't be able to bitch about the ER costs passed to the hospitals and state. You can't have it all.
  15. I'm sure I could - I'm sure all of them would be CHOICES, like all the above that you list. This healthcare bill isn't a choice, it's 'you ARE going to pay for this product'. And teh overblown military isn't a choice either. I chose not, but they still do anyway, to teh tune of 8 times that of #2 China.
  16. and that right there says so much about how this country got to where it is today. But you have no problem with Heller, do you? Justices / judges who find teh way you would are just following the constitution, all others are activists
  17. Katz v Ohio is one of the biggest privacy case laws. It states people have privacy, not places. Of course that had to be rendered in, as the great founders forgot to mention that anywhere. Don't see how HC reform is confiscation.
  18. didn't the emerging sport of skydiving in the 60s rely heavily on military surplus for gear? Sure, military gear largely developed and manufatured by private corps on the dime of the taxpayers. SO it really takes both, only thing is we have an abundance of corporations running things now. It really takes both gov and private sector with neither getting too much control, we now have too much corporate control, let's empower the gov to take the country back. How do we do it? Higher taxes and more regulation. The other has been treid and we see how it's worked out.
  19. For the life of me I can't figure out why you ddin't post the entire passage of mine: Every time the HC issue comes close, peopel, even Reoubs will be thinking.....you wanna take away my HC, don't you? A lot of now angry Repubs will become quit, closet Dems for fear of losing hC. Right and you fear HC reform as per the Dems because it will become desired and never turn back, every time a Repub campaigns on that matter, teh public will read between teh lines and know ifthat clown wins, it's curtains for HC as they then will know it. Washington Post has it at 57% for a public option http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/graphic/2009/10/20/GR2009102000148.html?sid=ST2009101902502 It states 45% support, 48% oppose what Obama is proposing, which is close to your uncited number, so with that, people think Obama is going far enough toward a public option, right? Obama is offering a water-down version with state opt out, the people must want more, as per the data. I couldn't find your Fox, Hannity, Newsmax ref, could you post it. How many times do you have to get hammered before you figure out that you HAVE TO PROVIDE SOURCES? Ridiculous, your data means shit unless you can find it within yourself to post source. Uh, Duh, er, uh....it's teh same as yours. WHat a joke. This will be fun watching you wiggle around with your source.
  20. That's because neo-cons stick together, we just discussd this in some thread. The blind allegiance doctirne that defines and regulates neo-conservatism demands they jump in and try to the strengths in numbers routine. They think having no substance or reference to their statements can be replaced with mere numbers agreeing on the same points.
  21. You're absolutely right. The diff between you and me is that if I don't know, I'll say so. You don't want to be upstaged, so you pretend to know. Anyone reading this thread thinking you understand contract law or acft structure is named Belgian_Draft, all others know the truth. Sure, and my dad was a boilermaker and the best GD welder I've ever known, but do I know a lot about welding? No. I watched him and helped him 100's of times, but I can't tell you a lot about it. Same goes with you and acft structure, you might be a low-time pilot, but you can't tell me anything about acft structure. No, nor could you. Your limited knowledge is a little theory and years assembling trailers to get thru school, I don't wanna hear your self-absorbed blanket of knowledge accross all lines of wory; it's arrogant to call yourself the master of all. Nope and unlike you, I don't pretend to know things that are foreign to me; I would look as silly as you do here if I did. At the same time, I don't see you bragging up your profession, so I don't buy that you are some metalurgist superhero. I'm sure you'll claim that tho. Bill said the same thing I did, prioritize, and if you have time, as you would on short final at about 1 min out, check fuel. In fact a guy in OK just had bad fuel and on depature with a fullload he had that same thing happen. I could check that thread, but I bet he gave a cursory grab on the fuel selector and eyed the primer. When they were good, he flew the acft knowing he would be gliding in; did a good job too esp considering he was over gross. If you can't multitask as a pilot you will become a statistic. Same with skydiving, I hope you can multitask or you'll end up in incidents. Bill basically indicated he would check gas (selector, pump if low wing) as he was flying the acft; same thing I said - you said opposite. That isn't what I wrote? Yep, as a PP that isn't relevant beyond understanding it's an element to overall P Factor. My ground school didn't teach and it as long as you understand how to counter P Factor so you depart parallel to the runway, that's all that matters. I could have been like you, scurrying around on teh net for this, but I gave the relevant answer of P Factor, that's what a private pilot needs to know. I was also obviously aware of torque. Until you get into High Perf acft. all of these factors means very little. Obviously, this is why ground schools genralize and teach P Factor compensation. As I stated and went further telling you of twins with counter-rotating props. Also an accomplished pilot, as if you're in some elite club with your 70 hours of flight time and single engine, land rating, the lowest you can have. Real pilots everywhere are gagging. Try to keep yourself into perspective, at best you're an unemployed engineer of some general variety (not specialized) who isn't proud of where he now works, as he's probably unemployed, you have a PP lic with 70 hours and 28 jumps. Check yourself.
  22. Is that photoshop? If not, did you take that while flying?
  23. Boy - good thing we had that stimulus bill to keep unemployment under 8%, huh? Most of it isn't yet spent, what a good strategy vs Bush's stimulus check freeforall. Get the GDP flipped, market back on track to support a long term infrastructure, then get to the jobs. This GDP and market flip are faster than could be expected and if jobs follow within a year; we'll be golden, it will be a miraculous recovery. The 1980's recession wasn't nearly as deep as this and it took probably 5 years before all indicators and jobs came back, and it wasn't even in the same league as this mess. And really, even after Hoover's apathy killed 12 million, his tax trippling and FDR's New Deals flipped things pretty quickly too. You just need a president who cares about people, it's not difficult to recover from these. http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servlet/SurveyOutputServlet?series_id=LNS14000000 In Feb, when the Bill was signed, unemp was already 8.1%, so who promised < 8%? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Recovery_and_Reinvestment_Act_of_2009 Is that your rheotoric? Don't you think the unemp rate would be higher w/o the stimulus? What's your answer: Tax cuts, my friends? You have all this criticism, so please, show us your plan for recovery.
  24. True, but I think we'll see a permantent shift here. And we are in a period of emergency with the debt and HC mess, so revolutionary times are here. After people get HC and are happy, could you see the next Repub on campaign? Every time the HC issue comes close, peopel, even Reoubs will be thinking.....you wanna take away my HC, don't you? A lot of now angry Repubs will become quit, closet Dems for fear of losing hC. Not to mention the young and minorities that will benefit and have been awakened in 08. Curtains, probably not, but it could be in time. Have you forgotten 1994 when the Dems lost control of both the House and Senate? The media had all but written the Dems obituary. True, but the pres was Dem and popular, so that offset it. He won by a massive margin in 96, even won AZ, which is a rarity here. Yep. And I will bet you dollars to donuts that in a few years...maybe 1, maybe 3, maybe 7.....the Republican party will be back on it's feet. It's just a cycle. Very well could be, but your side better play up Obama spending as if the Great Recession is his fault. We need a Dem to approach the people like Ross Perot in the single element of the data he brought. We need to remind or teach voters about the Great Depression, who caused it, who reacted inappropriately and who fixed it how. We need to look at the more major recessionary times like the early 80's and 1990 as well. If the data were presented in a concise manner, I think it would make people think and flip enough Repubs to Dems. Maybe I'm giving people too much credit, but I think appealing to their intelect is a better approach than appealing to their fear. After all, global warming, guns, abotion and the like will probably take a back seat to the debt in teh next 5-10 years and if teh people had an understanding as to whom caused that by undertaxing the filthy rich and overspending, esp on teh military, I think people would be persuaded to go Dem.
  25. Whatcha smokin? Thx for being so huge in this thread; you own it baby. You are very welcome little man Whatcha smokin? Ever look around and see others on your side make substantive points, yet you just cheerlead? Dude you make a claim that is a lefty talking point and then stand behind it as if it is fact Fact is, the largest self identified political group is conservative republican, then independents (who are now saying they will vote republican and then the last group is the Dems . So my question remains, what you smokin? What point is that, that you and conservatives cheerlead vs libs infight? Of course, even with your skewed party alignment position, when it comes to voting the left is less scattered.
