  1. ISDN might still be a viable option in your area. Also, is there no TV cable broadband? As for dial-up, I used localnet for years with no issues. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.
  2. Facts, eh? Where's your proof? Oh, wait, Limbaugh must have said it, and it is therefore a fact. Fact: Libby indicted for one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury, and two counts of making false statements. What's he covering up, hmmm? Libby took the fall to protect Rove, Cheney, et. al. The funny thing is, I can admit when politicians I have supported has done something wrong, but you Bushies would prefer to go down with the ship. Well, be my guest. Zipp0 Everything I said has been documented. You say Libby took the fall. And you ask me if I have proof Please don't let me distort your world view. That would be way to tramatic. By the way, Fitzgerald has said the Plame was not outed. Libby has been charged with a process crime not related to the supposed "outing" And you say the Bushies are going down with the ship. what a hoot...... The crimes Libby is charged with were meant to hinder the investigation, and cloud the truth. Or, as Fitzgerald said "It's like kicking sand in the face of the umpire." If there was no cover-up, why is Scooter Lying? In the end, you will lose. So, enjoy Bush's current status as the "Teflon Don" (remember Slick Willie?) but be ready when Humpty Dumpty has his great fall. 3. OK neo-cons.... put your lips to your exhaust pipes and suck in the sweet sweet gas of life... LOL Carbon dioxide... we call it life," TV ads say By Deborah Zabarenko Wed May 17, 6:58 PM ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A little girl blows away dandelion fluff as an announcer says, "Carbon dioxide: they call it pollution; we call it life," in an advertisement targeting global warming "alarmists," especially Al Gore. The television ads, screened for the press on Wednesday and set to air in 14 U.S. cities starting on Thursday, are part of a campaign by the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute to counter a media spotlight on threats posed by worldwide climate change. The spots are timed to precede next week's theatrical release of "An Inconvenient Truth," a documentary film on global warming that features Gore, the former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate. Against backdrops of a park, a beach and a forest, one celebrates the benefits of greenhouse gas-producing fuels. "The fuels that produce CO2 (carbon dioxide) have freed us from a world of back-breaking labor, lighting up our lives, allowing us to create and move the things we need, the people we love," the ad runs. "Now some politicians want to label carbon dioxide a pollutant. Imagine if they succeed -- what would our lives be like then?" The other ad questions media reports of the threat of climate change, especially a Time magazine issue devoted to the topic, and shows film of a glacier melting and then runs in reverse to show the glacier reconstituting itself. "We had started work on this several months back, but we sort of changed course once the flood of glacier-melting stories began," said Sam Kazman, an institute lawyer who worked on the ads. "So we did want to get out there before the Al Gore film got into national opening." 'RUNNING FOR ARCH-DRUID' Fred Smith, president of the institute, a lobbying group closely allied to the Bush administration that stresses limited government regulation and a free-market approach to environmental issues, said he had seen the film and found it "very alarmist," although well-produced. "There's a lot of pictures of Al Gore pensively looking into the sunset," Smith said. "I don't think he's running for president, but he might be running for arch-druid." The institute and environmental groups such as Washington-based Environmental Defense agree that average global temperatures have risen about 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.6 degrees Celsius) in the last century. But the institute questions the impact of global warming while a broad range of scientists and environmentalists, including Gore, have linked it to more severe storms, melting ice caps and rising sea levels. "They fly in the face of most of the science," Charlie Miller of Environmental Defense said of the institute ads. "The good news is that there's not a trade-off here between prosperity, jobs, growth and protecting the Earth. We can do both." Environmental Defense and the Ad Council released public service announcements in March featuring children as future victims of global warming, and these were mentioned critically at the briefing where the new ads were released. The institute ads will run from May 18 through May 28 in Albany, New York; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Anchorage, Alaska; Austin, Texas; Charleston, West Virginia; Dallas; Dayton, Ohio; Denver; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Phoenix; Sacramento and Santa Barbara, California; Springfield, Illinois, and Washington. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

  5. Well, if this guy didn't want to blow shit up before, he probably wants to now. I didn't think such a blatant denial of civil rights was possible in this country. What the FUCK is going on in America? Zipp0 -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

  7. C'mon man. Who gets to decide what gets published? You? Bush? Hillary Clinton? 99% of the time the media does a fairly decent job in reporting what they believe to be the truth. Just go ahead and admit that you are wrong on this one. Your mouth just got ahead of your brain, didn't it? That's OK. We won't hold it aginst you. Zipp0 The media has a habit of publishing stories that are untrue and crediting it to "sources". The strange thing is when they actually get facts presented THEN they choose to fully vett all sources in an effort to either cover their asses or discredit the FACTS. Ask Dan Rather, and others Sources sometimes lie for their own purposes. Ask the Iraqi opposition groups. Zipp0 -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

  10. Which part is the lie? Oh, wait.... Are you thinking about Scooter's lies? That MUST be it. What are you talking about? A reporter protecting a source has been an accepted aspect of 'freedom of the press' for time immemorial. What tactics? Persuasive speech? Appreciation for liberty? Like Fox News? 17. You bring up a great point here. I have been saying the biggest threat to the US is media distortions. They need only say that "we thought it was true when we printed/broadcasted the story. Since there is no consiquece for bad reporting they now feel imune to retrobution. So now (in some cases) the media does it purposly Add to that the terrible SC ruling that politions basicly can be sued for slander and we have what we have today. It is BS regardless of your political stance Immune to retrobution? Well... almost. Except when the administration counters articles in the NYT by releasing classified details of the identity of a CIA agent, when her husband writes a story. Oh, and when they jail reporters for protecting a source - a tradition since the founding of our country. If that's not retribution, what is? Advocating some sort of crackdown on media freedom is the scariest and most irresponsible thing I have seen posted in SC to date. There are a few, very small steps between a fearful, controlled, or intimidated media and a totalitarian state. Oh, and should I even mention Jeff Gannon? 19. No, it surely is not. This is what is called an "Argument from Ignorance" or argumentum ad ignorantiam, a logical fallacy in which it is claimed that that a premise is true only because it has not been proven false, or that a premise is false only because it has not been proven true. The fact that there has not been a successful attack in the USA does not prove that their policies or methods are effective. Only documented examples of their policies thwarting an attack can provide such proof. Zipp0 -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

  24. When in the Navy, my roommates and I drank enough beer to fill the back of a pickup truck to overflowing with crushed beer cans in garbage bags, in a single summer. I NEVER ONCE saw my rommate Chad come through the door with less than a 12 pack - I swear. This fueled such wise adventures as shooting off assault rifles in our front yard (1 block from the strip in Virginia beach), shooting cans inside the house with a 9mm, and night snorkeling at 3 am, wasted out of our minds. I am somewhat surprised I survived, but youth had much to do with it. We cashed in the cans at the end of the summer at the local recycling center, and immediately used the new funds to buy more beer. 25. Is it asking too much that we debate issues and suggest solutions without saying things like "Damn Libs" or "Nazi Cons"? I am guilty of it myself, but I got to thinking, maybe if we can stop paying so much attention to the political leanings of a speaker, and just concentrate on the issue, we could maybe find some common ground. I am often pigeon holed as a liberal, when actually I have views that correspond to libertarians, liberals, and conservatives. I am sure there are many right leaning folks who share some left of center, or at least more centered views, so we shouldn't put them in the same category as a hard right individual, correct Thoughts?
