From the looks of those stats, we should just stop selling guns to 18-24 year old black males. I guess that sounds racist, but they are causing most of the trouble. They are 6 times as likely to be victims than whites and 7 times as likely to offend. (so I guess blacks shoot mostly other blacks) -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

Corliss Is Really Going To Jump W.O. Parachute

Why not 100,000 cardboard boxes for landing, and give him a helmet with face shield? You could put that together for well under 2 million bucks. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. -
Yeah, unfortunately we have that little thing about "cruel and unusual punishment." Also, we have a total piece of shit legal system that convicts the innocent, and set's the guilty free. Defense planning, climate change, and US federal budget
Zipp0 replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
Places this thread went wrong: 1. Suggesting that the US government would consider climate change in national security policy decisions. 2. The US military is under civilian control. 3. One day, the US will be fighting a war of conquest for control of the world's oil. (it started some time ago) -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. -

Nice shootin Tex. What's the drop at that range - like 15 feet? I feel like a badass with a scope at 300 yards, so your are way outta my league. Then again, my rifles are cheap POS Russian/Romanian guns, but F it, they are fun to shoot and hunt with. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

Oh well, I never followed the beer rules anyway. I started skydiving to skydive, not to drink beer. I started drinking beer to skydive. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

The Wave of Mortgage Defaults is Not such a Bad Thing

Uh yeah, OK. 1/2 of 1% of subprime mortgages went to people with 6 figure salaries. Whoop-de-doo. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. -
Another US Shooting - This time a shopping Mall
Zipp0 replied to funkcanna's topic in Speakers Corner
So a 19 year old steals a gun. Goes and commits murder with it and your answer is to go after the parents and say they are at fault? Yes, if they didn't have their weapon properly secured. I keep my guns in an approved steel gun cabinet, and I only know where the key is. Now, if someone took a hacksaw/crowbar/plasma cutter to it, I think I should be OK, since I took reasonable precautions to prevent misuse. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. -

Another US Shooting - This time a shopping Mall
Zipp0 replied to funkcanna's topic in Speakers Corner
Absolutely. I believe another mall shooting earlier this year was stopped by exactly that (an off-duty police officer who carried his weapon into the mall, despite the fact that it was posted as being "gun-free"). When will people realize that bullets are far more effective at stopping violent criminals than "No-Gun" signs? and what would be even more effective would be for people to not be able to get hold of guns in the first place...... Where is this dream-world/fantasy land that you live in? Other things that would be good: Drunk drivers should not be able to get ahold of car keys. Crack heads should not be able to get ahold of crack. Rapists should not be able to get ahold of victims. You can't put the genie back in the bottle. Once people accept that, we will take a big step in the direction of making these incidents a bit more rare. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. -

Although I think some 'innocent' (but maybe dumb) people will be hurt, and that the overall economy may be SERIOUSLY hurt, I agree with you in principle. My wife and I bought LESS house, maybe much less, than we could have, so that we would not be house poor, or risk overextending ourselves. Now it is starting to look like we should have bought a huge mansion, and let the bank eat the loss when Bush & Co. get the banks to let us out of the contract!!! But the real reason Bush is doing this is not for the poor, subprime people - he knows that a further crumbling of the mortgage/credit markets will almost certainly result in a rather nasty recession. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. -

This Faux News article says he used an AK-47: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,315441,00.html Then 2 paragraphs later says he used an SKS. Who edits this shit anyway?? Note to depressed teenage fuckwads bent on destruction or murder/suicide. Kill yourself, NOW. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. -
Google ads are garbage. They stole $400 from my account (I ran a site they advertised on), closed it, and provided absolutely no valid explanation. I went ballistic for about a month. Actually, I'm still fucking pissed, but it's not worth my time to take further action..... -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

abandonment = abuse to me. Esp if plan B was the dumpster or the bay or the nearest Denny's. So, the police should assume that she was going to kill the kid and tase her? So, I guess they are now the thought police? They have to act in the interests of the child. I've tried to explain this to you 3 times. When in doubt they must act to protect the child. If you tell a teacher or a police officer that you were molested at home, they have to report it. They aren't supposed to decide if you're better off with your bad parents, they are directed to escalate. Inaction translates to no solution. A woman comes in, wants to dump her kid, then abruptly decides to leave and becomes uncooperative. Why the fuck do you presume that she's going to act in the interest of the child rather than herself? If she had said she is going to talk with her mother, or with her church, or someone that can take custody of the child, that would be satisfactory. On a aside, these are the sort of people that make you think about forced sterilization, both for the mother and the fathers that impregnate her. Why do YOU assume that she is not going to act in the child's interests? Can police take your children away simply because you are "uncooperative"?? That sets a very, very dangerous precedent. And I understand perfectly what you are "trying to explain to me", I just think you are wrong. I guess everyone always agrees with you? -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

Doesn't a taser sometimes make it more dangerous for the cop? Example - cop pulls his taser, bad guy pulls a glock. Now the cop has to drop the taser and go for the firearm, unless the bad guy is really close. Also, doesn't pointing a gun at someone encourage compliance? It seems cops just want faster compliance, so instead of waiting and communicating, they tase. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

Tried to abandon your child at a police station is more than enough reason to be fearful for the child's safety. He had every right and duty there to take action. This particular action? Maybe not. But it's not an obvious overstep. A couple years ago on the San Francisco waterfront, a mother underdressed her 3 kids and tossed em in. (Spectators did not do mankind proud - only one body was even found). If the cop lets her leave and she dumpsters that kid, that cop is going to feel like shit. Might even get blamed for it. Taking your child to the police is not abandonment. She took the kid to a place she felt the child would be safe - something an abuser would not do. Lesson? Never go to the police for help. I have tried it a few times, and the police have been completely USELESS. I went to city council and a judge and got much better results. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

The problem with less lethal weapons is their massive potential for overuse and abuse. Why is it that in some places a camera takes a picture of your license plate and you get your ticket in the mail, and in other places you don't want to sign the ticket and you are tasered? Just wait until the 'area denial' weapons now used in Iraq are used on protests in DC. They will be the firehose of the 21st century. Again, huge potential for abuse. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.

Negative. "...became frustrated and tried to leave with the child". If a police station full of cops can't deal with a pregnant woman without resorting to potentially lethal force, maybe they should all get different jobs. She had tried to give up her baby, but now wanted to leave. The cop has a moral (and legal) reponsibility to the child at this point, so I don't see that point as valid. He can't let her I'd like to see pics at this point to know if the cop should know the woman was pregnant. Unless he knows she is abusing the child he has no right to detain her. She had second thoughts, which sometimes happens. Maybe she thought "I'm not giving my kid to these fucking morons.... I'm outta here!" So what? No way did this warrant a tasering. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.
