  1. Having shot many many Aff video's with spring loaded vector style main pilot chutes, and non vector style pilot chutes (Non-mesh=vector style and pc's with mesh=non vector style). On the vector student rig, the spring loaded main pc's are the same as the reserve pc, I dont know if the pc on the non vector rig's are the same as the reserve pc's. I can honestly say I saw very few instances of burble bouncing on the vector pc's, as compared to the non vector pc's, there was also a very big burble due to the instructor/s and the students, I would never claim a 100% non burble launch with any system. The vector pc also has a lot stronger spring than most systems, but this was from a main deployment so its hard to compare because different rigs have more/less flaps to deal with on the reserve system, but that isnt the issue on this topic. Also not every pc with mesh has the same design so I dont want to testify that the mesh design is a bad design, I would just like to state that the meshless design worked very well. The deployments I saw were on pc's that had hundreds if not thousands of deployments on them. The meshless pc's catch air even if they arent facing top up. Im not saying that all pc's with mesh wont catch air unless they are facing top up, because quite frankly I'm not familiar with every type of pc out there. I can only testify to the effectiveness of the Vector style pc from personal experience with them. I think almost any pc will create drag on its own, possibly enough to have it end up top up, due to the resistance of the bridle and the wind blowing the pc forcing the pc to turn top up. But this is skydiving anything is possible. Given the choice I would rather have a reserve PC that creates signifigant drag regardless of direction it is facing. I did work with PD on reserve testing where we dropped heavy weights with a canopy attatched inside a container from a B25, at altitudes lower than 500ft. For these tests we used vector pc's and none of the drops I witnessed ever had an issue from the pc we used causing a delayed opening. We tried as hard as we could to have the drop system fall with the weight underneath the canopy. But no system is perfect, so there was deployments where the pc fired in different directions than straight up, I never saw any problems from the pc. And the best test that I have performed myself: After talking to Bill about why he designed the reserve PC the way he did, was to cause signifigant drag whatever direction the pc is facing in the wind. So I took a vector pc while riding in the back of a truck, and held it up in the wind and moved it in many different configurations, sideways, upside down, normal ect. There was signifigant drag, definitely enough to deploy a reserve, whatever direction the pc was facing. This was enough proof for me, on how well the Vector style pc works. I tried it with a pc with a mesh bottom and had very different results. The mesh bottomed pc had to be facing where some wind had to inflate the pc to create signifigant drag. Would I jump a rig with a mesh bottom reserve? Yes, but if I was very low and had to rely on a pc to extract and deploy my reserve, I would choose the Vector style pc every time. It is no secret that I am a vector fan, but the reason I am a vector fan is because they EARNED it. I do think there are many very well designed rig's on the market, most of the gear manufacturers out there have been making rigs for many years, they have had plenty of saves on their systems. Companies dont stay open for long with unsafe gear. The non mesh reserve pc from what I have seen, and tested worked very well as it was designed to do. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  2. Think its bad now, wait till just one genius with a seal press gets the idea that it would be a great idea to use a rig to smuggle drugs or something into the country and gets caught. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  3. because your in a dive longer. If you really want to rack your brain, try and figure: why is your roll out shorter on a slow 60 than a fast one? If no one gets it Ill respond. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  4. It's a shitload of work. I know half a dozen people who, like me, have built their own... and all of them say they wouldn't do it for anybody but themself. Even for what Wes was charging, which a lot of people think was expensive, it's still not worth the work IMO. You have to really love it, which Wes sure did. Any chances of seeing some pictures of yours. As far as other people making helmets. I used to buid composite aircraft, and parts. We did amazing work, but he did his with the idea of making them one at a time. There is a lot of ways you could make his system for mass production and still hame the helmet made for the individual. But still a lot of work and I wouldnt do it for anyone other than myself. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  7. Does anybody ever really quit skydiving? Nope Im back at it, more than ever. Got my Aff rating, doing 4way, and swooping, and next year I might even strap a helmet back on my head. Back when I used to build composite aircraft, I was working an a helmet design of my own. I actually made a few camera box's that were kick ass. Think of those cages that they used to sell made out of aluminum that you mounted your camera in, that protected your camera but you could still access everything. I made those out of carbon fiber. Anyway I have a lot of free time and wanted to make my own helmet and box's. There was a few things that Wes did, that was on the dvd that I wanted to reference. I lost my DVd and just wanted to see if anyone had a copy. So whats up Dj? Still in Texas? Blue SKiEs Ray Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  8. Wes had a DVD he made on how to build his style of helmet. They arent for sale anymore and impossible to find, I was wondering if anyone bought the dvd, and if I could get a copy of it. Thanks Ray Edited to add: I bought the dvd from Wes years ago back in Deland, I did some networking work for him and he sold me a copy for cost, I lost the dvd over the years. 14. Thanks for all the great advice from everyone. I thought I would save some cash by buying my stuff online now. But I talked to sme friends in Colo. And they said its better to buy a board from a shop, where there is someone to fit me, same as boots. And they said with all the shops in Denver the cost is lower due to competition. Im going to buy my clothes online, and wait for my board and bindings there. My boss has a house in Steamboat, so no matter how much the season pass is, its still cheaper than a months rent. Im thinking of taking two months off now! Thanks for all the advice, and if anyone has anything else to offer, please do. I feel like a first jump student trying to buy gear, that wants a velocity because Im going to do 1000 jumps this year, lol j/k. Thanks Ray Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  15. Ok Im taking the entire month of January off, to SNOWBOARD! I havent been in ten years, and need some info. Im leaning towards Colorado, but I also have friends in New Hampshire. So heres what Im looking for. Wheres the best and most affordable places to Snowboard. I was looking at Steamboat, but a weeks lift tickest is around $600 thats $2400 a month! So whats a typical week of lift tickets usually, and where is the good slopes that arent outrageously expensive? Next is Gear. Im looking online for snowboards ect. I need everything, from clothes, to a snowboard. So what do you reccomend? The choices are endless, I need a good board, and setup. I have a little experience, but plan on snowboarding a lot, so I dont want beginner gear, if Neccessary Ill rent in the beginning until Im ready for advanced geard. So what do you suggest? And for clothes, what do I need so Im comfortable? Thanks for all the advice Im sure theres a lot of snowboarders out here? Ski resorts that have ground launch friendly places nearby are a plus. Thanks. Ray Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  16. Skydive Deland used to do AFF for big guys, they had a tandem rig modified with a boc and throw out pc. I dont know for sure if they still do, but anythings possible with the right amount of money. Give them a call, and ask for Bob Hallett. good luck and Blue SKiEs Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  17. Bumper to bumper traffic on I4, Bumper to bumper traffic on I95. Setting my clock by the rain every day at 5. Majority population that wont or cant speak english. Toll Roads that are way overpriced and 5 males apart. The super high cost of living. Tourists. Oh yeah and I really like that I dont live there anymore, but I do miss the Ocean down south. 18. When the Quatar para rescue team came to Skydive Deland, they had the hardest time teaching them to use their reserve. They were devout muslim, and all believed that if their main didn't open, it was Gods will They had to be ordered by their senior officer to use their reserve if necesary. And they had to teach them, that if their reserve failed it was gods will, not their main. Thats what I call serious devotion to Religion. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  19. Twice I have had somone open right under me while filming 4way, and 8way. Both times were right before break off. Only on one can you see the piece partner look at the other guys boc a bunch during the dive and next thing you know his pc is coming out and he missed me by about 10 feet. He was right under me, but due to the dive he did a 180 and moved a little to the left of me. When asked on the ground why the piece partner didnt stop the dive when he clearly could see a problem, he said he was judging it as the dive went on and didnt think it would come out. In the video, you can see more and more of the pc coming out. the rig was brand new and the spandex was tight. The team did a good gear check before the dive and his slot was in the middle of the door during climb out, so it was doubtfull he hit the aircraft on exit. Both of the deployments were pc coming out. I also somewhere have a bloopers video where on exit a team member took a grip of the members pc, it got pulled, and he grabs his teammate and hands him his pc. The guy had no clue what was being handed to him and threw it away, and the had a very surprised look on his face when he was deployed at 9500ft. This was during a competition and a rejump was given. Note to self, try and not get as steep and tight on the team as possible. Nah fuck that shooting good 4way video is an art, get as tight as you can, and as steep as you can, but keep an eye out for loose pilot chutes, and insist on a good gear check. 21. There are more than one way to line a pond, you can hire a company to install a plastic liner, which is rolled out and welded together with a plastic weld machine, or depending on your area, you can line your pond with gumbo, or clay. In florida Gumbo is a nuicance so it is relatively cheap to come across, sometimes you can find someone that will trade you load for load dirt for gumbo. gumbo cant be used for anything, it is usually placed in pond slopes and covered wtih dirt to hide it. Clay on the other hand might be more expensive. Based on your area clay might be easy to find, have the people digging your pond dig a test hole, they might even find clay there, if so mine the clay and have them cut your pond three feet deeper on the bottom and the slopes, put a two foot clay liner and a one foot dirt cover for the grass to grow on. The clay will hold water quite well. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  24. My brother while in the middle of a divorce has a one nighter with the ex. She talks him into getting each others names tattoo'd on their necks. Of course they still get divorced, Now he has a big "CANCELLED" on his neck. People actually get a laugh when they ask what it means. His first choice was a big "Dont drink and ink" I like the Cancelled better. She hates it, so I like it even more. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  25. Q: What has 9 arms and sucks? A: Def Leppard. J/k I actually used to like them. There is a book out there with all the stories of what teams have done with the stanley cup. They were talking about it on the radio the other day, and just the little bits I heard were funny, I wouldnt want to touch it without rinsing it off first.
