Well, as things stand, atheists must have faith the size of a mountain to believe life arose without an intelligent designer. Despite expensive equipment and the promise of the most famous Nobel Prize in history, no scientist has reproduced the spontaneous generation of life in the lab. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

He was a person in whom our highest ideals and values somehow emanate. What is opaque in most of us, in him was transparent. So love and power and courage and all the highest human values were expressed in him. To that extent , he was the expression of God in a way that almost nobody else has ever really been. But I think the idea of him being God was superimposed later and that's not what I believe. It's too simplistic. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

I wish! I'm in a 'dry' country at the moment, although I've a special shipment of merchandise soon to become available....

Seeing as it's Jesus's birthday today(in actual fact it's not, but let's pretend it is...), and I've a bit of slack time out here away from my family, I came across a rather interesting website, which claims 'New Scientific Evidence for the Existence of God' so I figured I'd stick up a link and see if it's worthy of discussion. Have a look, it seems of a decent enough standard: New Scientific Evidence for the Existence of God And of course; Merry Christmas.

Nice dodge from the shaved chimp - respect! Can't believe the SS stood by whilst Bush get a shoeing from an Iraqi journalist. Twice!

Nice move from bush to avoid being 'shoed'. At last I've an iota of respect for the shaved chimp.

He's copied a post by Darius, to make a point of some sort I reckon. See 'IDF - head butting a woman'. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Well the thread was up to that point filled with the usual irrational Islam bashing twaddle then you posted a rational, factual post and went and changed it all. Makes a change, eh? Still, it was Eid.

But Jack! You said earlier you can't blame the person for acting on it - and now you say you do! 'Just say NO!' Mr Vortexring, please read my post again, you have misunderstood. Now the question is do I blame you for misunderstanding or me for being a crap writer? Let me think... Er.... 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Hey!! This thread is in direct response to a thread posted earlier by Darius regarding someone from the IDF head butting a lady. Did anyone else notice? Do I win a prize?

Seriously hilarious reply! Thanks.

Perhaps they could consider Deism or Pantheism instead? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Bollocks. And you can't blame the person for misinterpreting them!? You been sniffin' glue!!?? 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

The recent attacks in Bombay had little to do with religion. They were to increase tensions between India and Pakistan so as to reduce the increasingly effective anti-Taliban/ Al'Q actions Pakistan has been conducting. I wonder what a person from the past would think of the recent global warming debates. (Or somebody who hasn't really bothered his ass to pay any attention to the matter whatsoever.) Is it correct to believe Greenland and the Artic is melting away during Summer months to a far greater extent than normal? That this particular area is experiencing indisputable climate change? Are these simple facts? If so, can anyone explain scientists who then say: “For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming? For how many years must cooling go on?" - Geologist Dr. David Gee the chairman of the science committee of the 2008 International Geological Congress who has authored 130 plus peer reviewed papers, and is currently at Uppsala University in Sweden. “It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming.” - U.S Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA. Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” - UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist. “I am a skeptic…Global warming has become a new religion.” - Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever. Isn't global warming a fact if we only consider the Artic? Or are the numerous documentaries and news reports from the area nothing but lies? Seems pretty weird. I can understand the contention over whether the phenomana is natural or man-made, but whether it's actually happening? Seems a bit mental; I thought the unprecedented melting of the Artic ice cap (again, as a solitary example) had demonstrated global warming to be a fact. Anyone care to explain what the situation is to the man from the past/man who until recently hadn't bothered his ass to pay any attention? Surely it doesn't all come about from this area of contention: “CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or another….Every scientist knows this, but it doesn’t pay to say so…Global warming, as a political vehicle, keeps Europeans in the driver’s seat and developing nations walking barefoot.” - Dr. Takeda Kunihiko, vice-chancellor of the Institute of Science and Technology Research at Chubu University in Japan. That often innocent Palestinians are treated terribly by the IDF? I'd expect most people to be aware of that. Just as they should be equally aware of innocent Israelis being treated terribly by the Palestinians. So what's your truth? p.s. Happy Eid! Nova's judgment day: Intelligent design on trial

Jesus was simply a man who was able to motivate a number of people into thinking he was magic. Ok. Then they all went off and wrote literature about Jesus the Magician. . . He got a lot of people to dedicate their lives to him and write stuff about how great he was. Sounds pretty charismatic to me. C'mon, that's an answer a child might give to the question. '...write stuff about how great he was...' Duh! There was a bit more to it than that. Whether you're an atheist or not. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" You're most welcome, altho' I'm a lil' confused (I included links) ... but to be more explicit: -- http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=11876 -- http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/id/ -- http://www.anthro.utah.edu/PDFs/Papers/khnbj05.pdf -- http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/altruism-biological/ VR/Marg Er, sorry - it was a little joke - as in a link to somewhere/something which would allow one to gain more time, so as to be able to read the already provided links without any rush. I'll get my coat. . . . 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' -
