my proposals as a candidate - much stolen and borrowed from here, and thanks for the input, although I have had similar positions for a very long time already https://tkforflorida.com/gun-debate-common-sense/

this is all good stuff in this thread - all such good stuff that I will use it almost verbatim for my campaign. We need to make changes and they need to be sweeping. LEO needs to be involved whether the ATF holds the databases or the FBI - whatever. the information is there, it needs to be collected and there needs to be fees attached to it pay for the costs of implementation.
-
I never said not to fund it - we fund DMVs with licensing fees and taxes. And dozens if not HUNDREDS of other govt services. We can do the same for this model
-
one man's patriot is another man's terrorist. I consider Ron and his like to be a domestic threat.

I am NOT OK with private sales with just 'paperwork'. The paperwork should include the transfer of weapons and accessories through your local LEO, since the background check would be required anyway for ALL sales. ALL of them. Sale is arranged, guns and accessories go to LEO for escrow, LEO gets to background check and record the sale, serial numbers, makes and models and names/details of both parties, and then buyer gets to pick up at the LEO. Both buyer and seller get a background check to have databases kept current. That controls the sale, the recording, the paperwork, the background check and the waiting period for that matter. A single existing entity that simply has some new record keeping. ICE, DMVs, LEOs already share tons of information databases on people for a variety of DHS purposes, and there is no reason that these databases cannot serve as the source for background checks as they are federal and cover more people.

There is a difference between Mass Shootings and Gun Crime
tkhayes replied to DJL's topic in Speakers Corner
Whether or not your average Joe citizen knows the difference between an AR15 or a machine gun has nothing to do with the governments responsibility to protect it’s citizens from the threat of the same -
there are many reasons we stopped using bungee pilots chutes.
-
try not to assume that the only source of information is dropzone.com - you would have to be clearly obtuse to do that. public records of investigations are easily available and assuming that people that have been in the industry for decades have no clue about what is going on OR how to find that information would also be just as silly. Not to mention the decades of consistent stories of how the place is run come from previous staff and propagate first hand throughout the industry.

There is a difference between Mass Shootings and Gun Crime
tkhayes replied to DJL's topic in Speakers Corner
Most people do not have a problem with machine guns in society BECAUSE of the restrictions that are placed upon them. And the evidence shows that it is effective at keeping them out of the hands of the wrong people, that they are NOT commonly used in crimes, Let's do the same with all the AR-15 and similar weapons, magazines and such - federal licensing, strong background checks et al. It is the very definition of a working restrictive system that still allows people that WANT guns to have them. -
would Jesus have a problem with Muslim sympathizers in general? Not to add any perceived validity to your statement, but it would seem that Jesus would not be pleased with your faux judgement of others, especially with the obvious negative intent and dislike with which you carry it.

Left wing bigotry and xenophobia... wtf??
tkhayes replied to Justincblount's topic in Speakers Corner
the right has Rush Limbaugh and Alex Jones.... oh yes, and Fox news. touche -
And a former Navy Seal - which ties into so many things - like most people would not have a problem with a guy like carrying a handgun all the time - and he probably does, yet, is showing that a good guy with a gun (or a camera) can easily become a bad guy in a few moments in life. I am sure the Christians are fine with his indiscretions.....
-
Rush finally acknowledges Russian meddling. got it.
-
And then there is this... if you want to feed your 'distraction' - http://www.newsweek.com/trump-obama-worst-best-poll-808238
-
Which has nothing to do with the validity of my comments about his whining or the factual evidence I provided of such whining. Nice attempts at a distraction. You sound more and more like Trump every day.
-
I am correct about the whining he does. pretty much every single day he is whining about the Russia investigation. You do follow his twitter feed no? I may be exaggerating the cringing that the GOP is doing - but the exodus of his staff would support that they are at least concerned, cringing, unable to comprehend, unable to comply, unable to work with... etc. And certainly the country as a whole is cringing when orange-man speaks. his 40-41% approval rating is not actually a majority of americans..... I expect the 53-58% disapproval is a plebiscite on the 'cringing' majority.
-
http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-mcmaster-russia-indictments-1.4541021 And now that he is whining so badly (again), it will make it even harder for him to do anything about the investigation. After all this, there is no way he can fire anyone without creating another 'massacre' event and likely action by even his party. I am sure that the GOP mainstream cringes every time this guy opens his mouth.. The more he whines, the more I think there must be something to all this. I mean it is obviously not about being fiscally responsible and wasting money on investigations or anything like that - it is just about his image and his image alone.

that may be but we are also not going to do anything about that either. The NRA is not proposing that we do anything about that. There is no focus in their programs to stop people from having guns that should not have guns, they simply parrot the line. Quite the opposite actually - if we propose ANY legislation that reduces peoples rights to have guns, even if they are mentally ill, the NRA speaks out against it because it is a slippery slope - so until we have an absolutely 100% perfect solution to the problem that is guaranteed (ahead of time) to work and 100% of the people agree on it... we will do nothing, offer nothing and attempt no solution. Reiterating my claim that the gun lobby does not give a flying fuck about human life at any level. In fact I am pretty sure they are plugging the 'glory and distinction' of the ability for the 'victim American' gunning down their fellow American in self defense.... pretty much the flag that is flying on the pole for the past 30 years. It is fucking nauseating.
-
That's right - you keep telling yourself that death does not matter as long as it is suicide or gang-related.... got it. Sick disgusting tired-of-listening-to-the-rhetoric kind of bullshit that is tanking america AND american values that you so staunchly claim to uphold... only 'specific' lives matter, others... not so much Showing true colors again. and over and over and over again just how little the gun lobby gives a shit about life.

I thought the thread was about Russia - not Hillary? Actually the memo specifically states that an FBI investigation was opened up and warrants obtained for someone that was interacting and known to have interacted with Russians and possibly as a foreign agent....years before. That is independent of any dossier or anything that came from Steele. I expect the dossier added fuel to the already burning fire - i.e. would trigger further investigation regarding an ongoing investigation. You do know how to read yes? https://www.justsecurity.org/46786/timeline-carter-pages-contacts-russia/ just a piece of the Carter Page timeline, which with or without any Steele Dossier would have still had him monitored. Page worked for the campaign, went to Russia, bragged about it, then lied about it, then continued to have contact with the campaign that he worked for. When someone working for a campaign for the presidency makes trips to Russia for ANY reason, I expect the FBI gets involved and monitors that yes.... it is in fact when any reasonable person would expect them to do. Except mayhaps for you of course.... 2x4 back to you
-
The truth, as always. You would not know the truth if it hit you upside your head with a 2 by 4 Is that the same truth that produced 4 indictments and 2 guilty pleas already? right... those things did not happen. and they have nothing to do with Russia or foreign powers and they don't involve anyone that was connected to anyone's campaign. 2x4.... back to you

Except for the meetings that Sessions had and lied about and the meetings that Jared had and lied about, and the four indictments and 2 guilty pleas... but sure, other than that - there is no evidence at all.

Unconcious or uncontrolled reserve landing
tkhayes replied to gowlerk's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I include it as part of one of my safety talks.... "What size reserve do you have?" Now ask everyone about landing that parachute, downwind, no flare, brakes set..... Most will cringe Now ask them again about what size of a reserve they have and why.... The extra 20-30 sq ft could mean the difference between a broken limb or death also effective to ask they why they have an AAD if their reserve is some sub-120 micropatch, since the actual scenario in which you might need it (unconscious) becomes unsurvivable anyway..... save the money and blow it on skydives, cocaine and loose women..... usually get some levity out of that. But of course we are all jumping small reserves for the most part so we talk and we are all guilty. Fat bastard that I am, I upsized my reserve at the last gear change but still would be well over 1.5 wing loading
