Even at the end of Germany’s reign in 1945, surely there were still Germans that felt that they were on the path to success and everything that they were doing was right, even though it ended with the distruction of the country.

The cost is a good way for the 'common sense gun law lobby' to address the problem. I took a guess that the Parkland shooting would cost $100M and was summarily dismissed that the idea was stupid and over the top by a lot of pro-gun folks. this confirms that I am probably not far off the mark. It is no different that traffic accidents... society ends up paying for it one way or the other. Car accidents are mostly covered through insurance and through fuel taxes, But additional costs like lawsuits and courts eat away at the American taxpayer. 2nd amendment might get in the way of recouping the costs of gun violence from those that own and use guns. But it would be a start.

Obama did nothing special tp create this... just like Trump has also done nothing special to create this. The economy of the USA and the world is not actually in the hands of a single person, even the president. Despite the common belief that somehow everything good and bad is the responsibility of the president and within their realm of control. The economy would have recovered starting in the 2010-2013 period regardless of who was in office, and would likely have continued to recover. If you are going to hand the credit to single person for the good stuff, then arguably you also have to hand the credit for the not-so-good stuff as well. That is called 'logical'. Trump gets some credit for the low unemployment rate. He also gets some of the blame therefore for the high deficit, trade wars and other dumpster fires that he is creating every day.

Actually that is incorrect. Somewhat. International law may have provisions to apply for asylum outside the USA, but US law does not. To apply for asylum in the USA, you must already be in the country, and you are effectively asking to stay or not be removed until your asylum application is heard. When I started in the early 80's, the biggest concern for instructors about their students was "Is he going to pull?" If they felt good about that, then you were allowed to go do 10 sec delays until you figured it out. Then 15's until you did two 360 degree turns in freefall. stop worrying so much about stability. Find a wind tunnel and go do 15 minutes in that to help out if one is nearby in a city somewhere, but as long as you are pulling and flying and landing safely, the rest will come eventually. I spent the first 15-20 jumps going end over end in freefall and various configurations of unstable, mostly spinning.
