  1. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/07/26/trump-announces-10-billion-foxconn-plant-in-wisconsin.html Foxconn gets $3-4B in tax breaks in exchange for building a plant here, as yet an undetermined number of jobs, but given FoxConn's history, probably embellished. Harley Davidson gets admonished for reacting to an increase in the production costs due to Trump policy. What if Harley Davidson got a tax break to keep the production in the USA?
  2. Burble is web based so runs on Mac anyway. VMWare Fusion allows you to run Windows as an application on your Mac, if that is your only option. Pretty slow, so you need to have some horsepower in your Mac to begin with, but solve the problem by going to Burble. All Burble needs is a fairly reliable internet connection
  3. I think Pip Redvers had one cutaway in 25000 jumps
  4. Actually... no you don't. Of if you do, it is an abysmal failure. Gun violence is actually up. Chicago is no longer the leader, and has not been for a long time, in gun violence, they are something like 25th in the most gun violence in cities. you have more guns, more people carrying than ever, more good guys with guns, and yet we see increased gun violence, not a decrease. Your experiment is absolutely and wholly failing. Canada has more guns that ever, and and also an increase in gun violence, but far better set of laws that generally mean lottery odds of ever being a victim of gun violence. So you can actually have your guns AND have less gun violence.
  5. stiffer penalties are proven to work UP TO A POINT. And they are PART of the solution, not 'the' solution. As I stated. that is my point.... I even used the term 'diminishing returns'. Assume then that handing out life and death sentences would eliminate drunk driving? I doubt that. And so do you
  6. Where do you get your news Rushmc?
  7. Anti-gun people are no more focused on a single cause any more than the pro-gun people are denying that it is part of the problem. Gun legislation is and has to be part of the solution. denying that by the gun lobby is just as stupid as calling out anti-gun folks as singularly focused. Most anti-gun lobby groups advocate for MANY facets of solutions to the problems, so singling out that they are ONLY anti-gun already shows an unrealistic bias. The NRA calls for mental health changes, but then does nothing to further that cause. They blame video games, but they do nothing to further that cause. They call out bad parenting but do nothing to further that cause. everyone likes to pick on the other side with whatever cherry-picked narrow inane arguments they can come up with. GUNS ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM, and they will have to be part of the solution, along with tons of other stuff.
  8. Stiffer penalties against drunk drivers are not the likely solution, but of course one that Americans in general would embrace because we are a country of punitive punishment and not education or rehab. IMO Drunk driving accidents have been cut in half over 30 years. That is pretty good. Just like gun violence, you cannot expect to eliminate it, but you can make significant improvements in the numbers MADD managed to not only increase penalties, but changed the entire culture of DUI. When I was a kid, we would be laughing at that drunk guy trying to get out of the parking lot - it was funny. 20 years later, you would tackle your friend at the party and take their keys away because they were about to do something really stupid. I expect the other dozens of factors include the economy, education, lack of healthcare, the opioid crisis, the american dream, lack of public transportation, etc as some of the reasons why (it seems) that drunk driving still exists, or maybe the perception that it is increasing. People drink for a lot of reasons. Tackling that as a social issue will probably have a greater effect on the outcomes than simply saying "We're going to change a first time offense from a 12 month suspension to a 2 year suspension" Increasing penalties at this point I believe would be diminishing returns. Long sentences only serve to destroy the lives of everyone attached to the offender. Not solving any problem of why that person decided to or felt they needed to get behind the wheel to get home..

  10. agree, not sure why we waste our time answering to Rushmc.... even if Trump was charged and found guilty, impeached by a vast majority of Congress, removed from office, then sent to jail after a trial that came from a Supreme Court decision, EVEN THEN, it would simply be a deep state conspiracy. Trump is on his team. Trump could rape his daughter right in front of him, and he would find a way to excuse it.
  11. good series, but have to wait for it on Amazon, no cable for me
  12. You used to have to sign a waiver and get permission from PD to fly a Stiletto. Now it is considered to be an intermediate canopy that has stood the test of time. I never liked them myself, but you cannot disagree with the success. It is a good canopy to learn a lot of pilot skills on.
  13. this is hardly new. We used to watch Jerry Falwell and the Bakers back int eh 80's while drinking beer and laughing our asses off. EXACT same monologues.... "But if you are that one donor that can send us $1M, we can get God's message to the world...." But hey, if I can convince you on TV to send me your social security check and then you send me your social security check - I mean that is capitalism, in its purest form.
  14. more distractions to the real damage done. Of course Trump tweets about how amazing he is.... you should be used to that by now
  15. I was not aware the reunification was on the table. The South Koreans are NOT interested in reunifying (IMO) with the North, this was discussed in another thread. They do not trust them, they do not want the financial burden of taking them on as what would amount to a welfare state and a serious burden on their economy. Not to mention the political differences... staunchly communist dictatorship reunifying with a democracy... how exactly does that work? I will tell you how - it doesn't. At least not yet, and maybe not for a decade after disarmament and dismantling of the weaponry that is currently pointing at the south just across the DMZ. As far as I know, or any I can find, there is no goal of reunification here, and certainly that is NOT what is on the table in regards to the June summit in Singapore with the USA. Those talks are about peace and disarmament in exchange for more favorable economic conditions (and security/longevity for KJU) for the North, and I expect that is pretty much what the north and south are also talking about, even today.
  16. It disturbs me that this is done without the USA present Generally speaking in a diplomatic sense, there are 1 million things to do ahead of meetings like this. Frameworks, what will be discussed, scope, expectations, but of course we are in a time when normal diplomatic channels don’t matter. Yet to be determined whether that is an effective method or not What is the president’s time worth? Relative to the gross domestic product, the GDP is $19 trillion per year, which makes the presidents time worth $216 million per second. I could see where that’s an oddball way of measuring it. But it does give some scope to the impact to our economy if things are done poorly The very fact that we are cut out of preparatory meetings indicates our weakness in the process while we continuously brag about our successes
  17. Yes that is true, but when workers in all these poorer countries do begin to demand better wages and the lifestyles that we all enjoy, then THEY will become the market - not us. I always said that America's time as the world economic leader is coming to an end. 330M people compared to 2.5B for a market. We have given them everything that they need to replicate everything that we do, now we are complaining that we gave it all away. It was only a matter of time anyway. The USA will eventually become 'just another market' in a global market. Hope you got your while it was good.

Are you suggesting that your 'libtard' comment could only be taken out of context, instead of the personal attack that it is?
  19. I am going with the latter. Given his lack of intervention in recent mass murders, he seems to be quite negligent in his supreme efforts. Or lack thereof [batshitcrazy]Glad that is working out for you. [/batshitcrazy]
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFtkJd8w5UQ Eddie nails it perfectly.
  21. I had the exact opposite experience. The velo was out of control for me, I never felt safe flying it. Mind you my wing loading was closer to 2.6:1 since the largest model is a 120. Katana has much friendlier options for sizes I like the Katana, I fly it well (IMO of course), it is no better or no worse than any other canopy because there are too many variables to make a "one is better than the other" assessment. wing loading, experience, goals, how you fly it, aggressiveness, or just getting to the ground etc I hate discussions like these because almost all of it is subjective opinions. And no two jumpers or jumps can replicate the exact same set of flight circumstances or outcomes because every canopy flight is different.
  22. the more likely scenario is that Trump felt to himself that he KNOWS everything that there is to know and "I got this" attitude. The people that would have prepared him for the piece and advised him on the issues, done the research, gave him the information that he needs to be effective in his discussions? Those people were drained out as part of the unnecessary swamp. Trump got this, he is the narcissistic sociopath that can do no wrong and even when he is caught 100% with his pants down, his supporters are behind him and whatever he said was fine with them. Certainly it is fine with Trump himself because he has a very big brain and lots of words.....
  23. Maybe Russia had no intentions of supporting one or the other, but was happy with any level of distrust and disruption within our system. That actually sounds more plausible. But if your campaign got wrapped up in any of that, directly or indirectly, it is still worthy of investigation (ongoing) and quite possibly leads to crimes, (also underway with dozens of indictments and many guilty pleas) I see that Fox news managed to report the Manafort son-in-law plea, but hid it rather well from any front pages or headlines.....
  24. Flynn's indictment is wide and varied. 5 pages actually. Yes, part of the indictment could be found to be false or untrue as happens in many criminal charges..... i.e. found guilty on 12 of 13 counts. Of course, the indictment itself is public record, I assume you have read it.... oh wait, of course, not, why would you bother looking things up when Fox can feed you the synopsis so easily? https://www.justice.gov/file/1015126/download
  25. Interesting that you would find a conflict or suspicion with Mueller and Russia, and simultaneously ignore as 'nothing to see here' the obvious Russian ties with the administration https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/03/connections-trump-putin-russia-ties-chart-flynn-page-manafort-sessions-214868 That is some of the finest cherry-picking to date.
