would you buy a helmet with impact absorbtion?
Shark replied to hottamaly's topic in Gear and Rigging
I didn't vote since the list didn't really reflect my needs. First of all, my current quiver of helmets provide adequate protection, including the Boneheads. If you can design a stylish helmet that is able to have better impact absorbtion it would sell. -
Cool! I guess between you and Javier I will be drinking this weekend. Bob, will unfortunately be in Hawaii or some other desolate location for work.

Yo! I was wondering if you got out to the DZ today. A little late on your sitrep...

...and the ability to back stab.

In what way do AFF-Is baby their students? I think what phree is trying to say is that s/l instructors will never pull for you. nor will they try to fly into you and grab you if you start spinning or something. hell, when I did s/l, they never even used hand signals... if you started to go low, they would just keep watching you... and then tell you after the jump is over that you pulled too low. So are you saying you never received in-air instruction. If you are in a spin, are you learning anything? At that point the learning ended. Instructors will stop a spin, then give corrective signals.

First off, why don't you just try it up high on the student canopy you are comfortable with? Have you discussed this with your instructors?

Bill, Hope you get well soon. In your honor, I plan on doing a chuteless jump myself; in the tunnel of course. Best regards, Shark

I thought they came up with a new marketing acronym, like CAG.
-
Yeah, I'm gonna tell Jake you fucked up the spelling... then again, what did I expect from a Marine. Don't forget DEVGRU, the SWCCs and PJs and Romads.

...and I'm a gun owner, too. (I guess that's a redundant comment.)

Most if not all altimeters read approximate altitudes. Some are more accurate than others. I recommend a suitable wrist mounted altimeter like the Alti-2 Galaxy. At your experience level you should utilize this type of visual altimeter. Save your $300 bucks for a ProTrack.

Yep, me and Cajones did wear some baggy stuff. I think he was more surprised than I as since I jumped with you before. (Notice that I did not give you an "arch" signal??)

Good job! I could have gotten more for the watch, but it didn't have those glow in the dark numbers on it. In fact, I don't think there were any numbers. Yeah, that was Ed's idea to pick you up. He saw you under canopy and brought up the golf cart. Brittnay, the German hottie laughed and mentioned that I had no confidence in your canopy control & accuracy.

Congrats! I think you need to spend some time in Elsinore to finish up your A license and we can check off the items left on your proficiency card.

Wind tunnels - need your opinions

Was that a tunnel I was in at Perris??? -
I'll be there at 'Snore, basically jumping between the 2 DZs. I think the first BBQ is at Elsinore on the 16th, then the big one at Perris on the 17th. Of course, the 10 Way Speed meet is at Elsie that day, too.

Well, me and 13 others did one fine morning in SoCal and we were relatively safe. Then again, you ended up tracking away around 7 grand. Meanwhile me and Jobo said WTF.
-
I'll be there sometime, but I have to help Rich and his wife pack up the UHaul. Tonight we're getting some more tunnel time! (That's if Erin ever picks us up.)

Nope, but he's the type to vote for Homer Simpson. Mr. Burns will be Homer's running mate, while Apu will possibly be his Secretary of State. Krusty could be his NSA.
-
Bob, I must've just missed you. I got there after 2 and spoke with Marie. She mentioned she had a good AFF jump earlier, but I didn't know it was you she jumped with. Sounds like a great jump!
-
Yes, get more tunnel time. It is a great tool. I've already had 2 students go through with excellent results. We put another guy through yesterday afternoon, and already we can see a big improvement.
-
Today I had the a really good experience with a student that had just completed 5 minutes of tunnel time. I was his FJC instructor and did the level 1 jump a couple of weeks ago. Last week he did level 2 and today, Cajones and I did his level 3 release skydive. All I can say is that if you (students) have an opportunity to get tunnel time during your AFF progression, it will improve your skills immensely. The student was Javier, (casurf1978) and it was a great skydive, albeit on the fast side.

If you get on out to Elsinore some time I have a jump ticket waiting for you. Merry Christmas! Shark
