Selling the ashes in ziplock bags... Own a piece of Elsinore history.... or have your own little ash dive to honor lost skydiving equipment.

We will be removing the debris and cleaning up the area Wenesday at 1200. If you would like to help out, just show up at the DZ with a good pair of gloves. If you have an extra shovel we could probably use it. Thanks
-
Well you did drink a pitcher and a half! Yeah, Bob! Thanks for feeding us animals. We'll be sure to pass you on your Level 6. Heck, maybe we should go right to 7 since you like those type of exits.

You guys rock!!!! As noted by Lew, we got to sift through the rubble. I found my rig, or what was left of it, parts of my 3 suits, the charred shell of my Bonehead, (it was in a Nomex helmet bag that can withstand 2000 degrees for 6 seconds), and my melted Alti-2 that was recently calibrated including new wrist strap and lens. (Okay, so the strap and lens melted.) Later in the day I opened up the rig and took out the Cypres and would you believe it turned on and started to do it's calibration??!! The main looked fairly good, even though there were several large holes burned in it. The reserve looked great, until we unpeeled the cells from one another. I but off the closing pin and will probably use it as a necklace or something. Sean found his frap hat he uses for tandems and his altimeter was in decent condition, and his ProDytter still in good condition. His ProDytter turned on and works, too! It was like Christmas and a funeral at the sametime. Everyone got excited when they found their "gear" and shared in the bounty. Bob, (SkyLord) showed up with his camera and took some pics that he's going to send me and I'll post them later. It's mostly my stuff including Rich's (rfj98) ugly Tonysuit and melted rig, and Jake's 3/4 tonysuit. Again, the support has been very good and we really appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. It is a very difficult time for us, but we will make it through! It will be fun to get airborne again! Shark

I should also note that other DZ staff lost gear in the fire. One that comes to mind is the Air Boss, Jason (Downwardspiral).

Thanks for everyone's support and thoughts. I just got back from the DZ and the mood is somber, but we are still trying to maintain a positive attitude. I lost everything in the fire as well. I'm not sure of my emotions, as I try to make light of the current situation. I'm also one who did not have coverage, so maybe it hasn't hit me yet. I got there at 0400, just as the fire department had the fire under control. After that it was mainly trying to comfort each other throught the rest of the night. Yes, it really sucks right now, and I apologize not replying to any emails, nor PMs. Me, Rich (rjf98), and Ed (Cajones) are regulars here on DZ.com, but most all of our staff lurk here and post occasionally. Needless to say we are devasted. I'd also like to thank our students whom have been very supportive of us and we really appreciate it. Thanks again for your support. Take care, Mark Guinto AFF-I, Skydive Elsinore

Was it the middle finger??!!

Have you seen Deland Majik? Watch one of their training days. Backflips before the side buddy block, and doing an upside down, inside out zig-zag marquis.
-
Actually we're not. You just might think we're special. I don't think we are that different. C'mon Chris. Give him a little break. He hasn't been in the sport that long. After a few jumps I thought I was special.
-
Because dz.com is international and not eveyone is registered to vote in the United States of America.
-
Then by your definition, Majik, Airspeed, and GK are freeflyers.
-
Well, all the political threads, regardless of content and politcal beliefs, are "troll" threads lately. It's not like one is right, and one is not, but it always leads to the shit throwing at the end. When it hits 100 replies or so, it goes away. Should I bring up my Pro or anti-American thread again? Hell, if it's not calling the leaders names, it will result in personal attacks and someone getting banned for a week. Disposable income.

Does not having earned an AD not make you a freeflier? Even though I freak, we often do "freeflown" exits in R-dub. You can stereotype, but nowadays it can be difficult. I know many freaks & swoopers that can turn points with the best. I also know a lot of r-dub types that can freefly in all dimensions. The same thing can be said for CReWDogs. Does a 2 stack after a freefall make you a crewdog? I've docked 8th+ on a diamond a few times, but I haven't done many downplanes. You talk to some of the hardcore dogs and they say you are still a pup until you have cutaway from a wrap or entanglement. Who cares what we label ourselves! We are all skydivers! It's all good!
-
Which way did you vote? Did you start skydiving during the Bush administration? I recommend you seek more advice in Safety & Training. You might learn more than the Troll posts on Talk Back.

What about a Browning Citori, and a few boxes of BBB steel? It is Texas, ya know.

Some whom couldn't wait have already blown their wad on a similar one. May be next year.

No way! Gotsta be letting the men know what's up!!! Kelly Oh, come on!!! You know we lurk the Women's Forums for their educational value....

Shouldn't this be in the Women's Forum????

Yeah, yeah, yeah... It's all good; except when you do that to scare your instructor. Congratulations!

Hey Darcy, Thanks for having me as your Cat. E instructor! The Level 7 bottom end wasn't too dramatic... it was more of a very slow barrel roll, with a pause in between. Still only 2 seconds worth of drama.... Anyway, you left out the great canopy control, pattern and landing! All without radio help. Your Level 8 was very good, too! I had the best seat in the house. That look on your face at pull time was funny, too. I was just doing my job. (Sidebar: In case you were wondering, she did pull on her own. I was positioned on the mainside by her deployment handle just in case. She waved, and when she reached back, glanced over, probably a little surprised since I was so close, and in that split second she pitched out the PC like she wanted to hit me with, and as if to say, "this one's all mine!" This was also a very good canopy ride for you, pretty much without radio. (See, there was another level 8 in which RJF98 was the JM and also had the radio for both. They had issues and landed a little far away and she did the flight without any assistance after an okay from Rich (rjf98.) Yep, there were muchos cervezas para todos los barrachos. -
Or maybe I'll need it...

SkyLord, Nice story... next time we jump I going to have you fill out the logbook. Anyway, you already know what your homework is. Too bad you'll be practicing on the sand or some terrible hotel pool on Waikiki. Shark

Exscuse Me!? But I really must call BULLSHIT! One is not necessarily safer than the other. I don't want to slam S/L students, but have you ever jumped with one after they graduated? You could stereotype an S/L student by how severe their backslide was. By contrast, an AFF graduate may backslide less, if he had proper freefall instruction and corrective training. Stable could possibly be considered safer by some.
