there is a rumour that THE ALMOST LEGENDARY ALAN IRONS will be nominated to the 2006 beer olympics team. he will of course be representing his homeland, Packoslaveniahama. the Packosloveniahemians are confident that Alan's performance will be substantial enough to remove the word ALMOST from his moniker, as well as at least three vowels from that country's name. i know i speak for skydivers all across my socks when i say " godspeed to THE ALMOST LEGENDARY ALAN IRONS and long live the empire of Packoslaveniahama!" blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

i was coming back to n.j. from florida. someplace in north carolina i shot past a state trooper while i was doing eighty. while it is true that i was speeding, a more accurate description would be i was the only one in the pack who didn't notice him(i wondered why all those ass-hats were hitting their brakes). after a seven day road trip with a stop at a DZ with alot of old friends and bad weather i looked, well, like a guy who had been on a seven day road trip with a stop at a DZ with alot of old friends and bad weather. that is probably why he wanted to search the car. he finds exactly what i knew he would find, nothing, and then asks me a few questions about skydiving as he graciously lets me put all my stuff back in my car. now here comes the weird part. he lets me off with a warning, and then shakes my hand and wishes me a nice day. this getting older stuff has a few perks to it. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

history is full of leaders who brought about a sense of unity within their sphere of influence using "racial purity" and "god's will" as their banner. as far as i can tell, it usually works in that leader's interest for at least a few years. perhaps he is not as stupid as we would like to believe. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

please don't leave it at that, i would love to hear about what you saw. i jump one, so if i am having a problem with my main that i am unable to detect, but that you have been able to pick up on by watching i want to know. i can understand that, everyone knows the whole debacle PD faced when they released the sabre2. if i remember correctly the concensus on this forum was that the sabre2 was not a semi-elliptical nine cell, but was actually nothing more than a sack full of anvils. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

Greg Robertson is another one of my skydiving heroes. he and Kevin both have humble personalities considering the actions they took to spare others pain and grief without thought of their own safety. i consider myself lucky to have crossed paths with both of them. billions of people will not get that opportunity. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

just a heads up to folks who may be coming to freezefest for the first time. when it comes to exit seperation, we don't use the 45 degree rule, we don't use the digital timer rule, and we don't post a chart next to the door. we use the handcuff rule. you are handcuffed to the airplane until it is safe for you to exit. this system was developed by none other than THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE and has been working great since day one of it's implementation(which is pending). i am sure i speak for skydivers all across my living room when i say, "GOD BLESS THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE". my suggestion was to have Chuck Norris roundhouse kick people in the face if they tried to exit too soon. THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE pointed out that handcuffs are cheaper, thus saving the DZ money which could be passed on in the form of cheaper jump tickets. what a genius! i love THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE, how could i not? how could anyone not love THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE? he will be organizing at FREEZEFEST. do yourself a favor, come to FREEZEFEST and get on a LOVE LOAD. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

that's pretty much what Kevin did for me at the 96 nationals. in fact he was named skydiver of the year by skydiving magazine for his selfless actions. he truly is my skydiving hero. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

it is just a ruse designed to make people think that it will be warm for FREEZEFEST(see events and places to jump) the parties responsible for this practical joke want me to assure you that they did not intend for the effects to make it all the way to Illinois. there must be a glitch in the matrix. the parties responsible want me to apologize to you on their behalf. on a personal note, happy new year John. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

by coincidence i have just recieved a fax from the Where are They Now talent agency. not only will Gary Busey be making an appearance, but Gary Coleman will be in attendence as well! it was part of a buy one get one free program that WaTN was running in conjuction with their cash and Gary program. balloons will be available for the kiddies. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

Manufacturer Instructions Mandatory? More Fuel for the Debate
darnknit replied to scdrnr's topic in Gear and Rigging
i should probably mention that in reality, i have never replaced a suspension line without a master rigger's supervision. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin -
Manufacturer Instructions Mandatory? More Fuel for the Debate

hi Mark, thank you for the input. i may not have been clear enough in my original post, but i was just trying to get another point of view on the topic. i was not trying to strike a nerve. i look forward to reading this AD you mention. it seems like that should take out alot of the grey areas that seem to exist. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin -
Manufacturer Instructions Mandatory? More Fuel for the Debate
darnknit replied to scdrnr's topic in Gear and Rigging
hey Mark, i did read that paragraph, as well as the rest of AC-105-2C. according to PPM volII an advisory circular is not law, it is just meant to help inerpret the FARs. PPM volII also lists senior rigger as repair personnel for line replacement on non-certificated canopies. since i could manufacture bags of anvils and call them main parachutes and not violate the FAR's, i'm reasonably sure i wouldn't be taken to task for line replacement on said bag of anvils, even though i'm only a senior rigger. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin -
yes it is true. Chuck Norris will be at FREEZEFEST so that he may have the honor of being a participant in a LOVE LOAD. Chuck Norris admires THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE because STEVE LOVE saved a dart once.(twice actually, but the second time was not skydiving related and the details of the incident are "ooky" to say the least). after Mr. Norris has made a skydive with THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE, he will be hawking his goofy exercise machine at Ottley's. you don't want to miss that sales pitch because there is gonna be some hot babe in spandex working with exercise equipment. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

Manufacturer Instructions Mandatory? More Fuel for the Debate
darnknit replied to scdrnr's topic in Gear and Rigging
after reading this i checked AC105-2C, the current version of part 105, and PPM volII. from what i have read, i feel a senior rigger could replace suspension lines on a non-certificated canopy all day long and be on pretty solid ground. i don't feel like i have found a loophole. if i am wrong about this i really want to know. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin -

thanks for the link NelKel, i was actually looking for how other dropzones present information. we all know how to teach a class, but i was wondering if anyone was doing safety day in a "fun" way. when i learned how a bill became a law, it was "fun". i'm just looking to wow the crowd while they learn. sooooo..... watcha got? blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

i will add one more vote to seperate gear from rigging. i would think that the seperation alone would take care of most of the problems that have been postulated so far. i say let's try it and see what happens, it's a forum, not a parachute. we stand to lose nothing experimenting with this. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

i have amazing news! STEVE LOVE, yes that is right, THE LEGENDARY STEVE LOVE, will be organizing the belly fliers during FREEZEFEST!!! for those of you who may not know STEVE LOVE, he is a cross keys regular, very knowledgeable and yet humble, and he is thrilled to organize during the only boogie Chuck Norris will attend this year. here are some unsolicited comments made in homage to the legendary STEVE LOVE: " i thought i was going in, i had a pilot chute in tow and didn't know what to do, STEVE LOVE helped me and i survived". submitted by an anonymous badminton birdie " i thought i was going in, i had a container lock and didn't know what to do, STEVE LOVE helped me and i survived". submitted by an anonymous dart " i would never roundhouse kick STEVE LOVE in the face because he saved that dart's life, and i hold sacred all throwing objects that are sharp". submitted by Chuck Norris all i can tell you is i am gonna be on every single LOVE LOAD i can, because that is where the magic happens people! don't take my word for it, see for yourselves. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin

i absolutley agree no argument there. my experience has been that the ones who care, wether they are packing, instructing, manifesting, or rigging are the ones who stay. lineovers are not always a packing error. you can show someone how to avoid causing a number of malfunctions, but you will never be able to train them to eliminate the chance that any of them will happen. i would never hold a packer to a higher standard than a manufacturer. which is why i'm surprised you never see a packer with a warning label. blue stuff, p.j. pulling is cool. keep it in the skin
