I absolutely whole-heartedly agree with Tigra. I recently got to spend a couple days in the hospital. The entire nursing staff was polite, skilled, caring, helpful, professional, and generally went out of their way to make me feel better. The doctor was the opposite in every way. He seemed to be bored with me and my mundane run-of-the-mill back fracture. He avoided answering questions unless I got a little bit rude. I truly believe that since I didn't need surgery, in his mind I was totally undeserving of his attention. If you're gonna be a doctor, be a good one, not like that asshole. Matt -
Just please be certain to avoid any flavors that include walnuts or chocolate chips, or any other kind of chunks with potentially sharp edges. Matt

I have decided that there are far too many people named Matt on this site. In order to prevent any possible confusion, all you other Matts are going to have to change your names. Clyde, Walter, Sergio...I don't care, just change it. Since it's my idea, I will be the only Matt to remain unchanged. I think that's fair. You have two weeks to effect the change. At the end of the transition period, any Matts who fail to comply voluntarily will be forcibly supplied with a new name, and you definitely won't like that. So get crackin'.

I've heard that during the development of the SR-71 on at least one occasion the plane broke up at very high altitudes while doing better than mach3, and the crew survived in their ejection seats. Instead of dropping off the space station, why not ride on a Spaceship One type craft just barely outside the atmosphere, then bail out. I'm envisioning a slowly ablative canopy that would be huge to slow your descent through the upper atmosphere, but burn/shrink away the lower you go, so you're gradually slowed to a normal terminal velocity once the thicker lower atmosphere is reached. Sure it would need some truly exotic materials technology, but I don't see why it couldn't be done. Somebody call Rutan and get him working on this ASAP! Matt

Why limit yourself? Why not sex, followed by planning a big heist, then sex, the heist itself, and then congratulatory/celebratory sex afterward? Matt -
I don't really have an answer to the original question, since I'm out of action with an injury myself. It's interesting that here we have three people who didn't complete the flare, but I'm sure that none of us did it deliberately. Why does a person do this? I think I got some kind of tunnel vision and stared at one point on the ground till I just smacked into it. Certainly wasn't planning on it. Matt

I think the airplane ride will put even more pressure on the ear, especially since dz pilots tend to descend as fast as they can to make the next load. Probably a bad idea. Matt
