One of our jumpers went to a regular dress maker and had her install a second zipper. In the summer he can use the original zipper, but after winter with the extra clothes he uses the new zipper that gives him an extra 2 inches. I'll try to get a picture this weekend. Hey, we have a pilot at the dz that does that! I've seen one of our pilots do that too! I'm a real welder There are lots of people out there who operate welding equipment, but aren't welders I met a girl once that claimed she was a welder, she ran a spot welding machine at the GM truck plant . I'm a welder in a factory, but it's real welding, aluminum Tig. This is part of my work station I built out of scrap metal. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. I hear poker chips with a slot cut in them, but I haven't seen that done in person. It wouldn't protect the slider grommets from damage either, just stop the slider. Most of the student rigs I've seen had clear plastic tubing from the hardware store. 2 feet of hose will get you three full sets, they do wear out eventually. My first thought was no. Then I remember my DZO telling us that AAD's were very unpopular until a famous guy died in some kind of a tracking incident. That was what brought about the surge in AAD's, that and the CYPRESS being much more reliable than the other designs. I'm going to say that some would wear helmets that wouldn't have otherwise. If you look in the background in that video you can see streemers that are moving pretty good. I bet that thing has a good flare with slower winds. I noticed that too, lots of wind. It looked to me like the one guy tried to collapse the canopy onto the ground in front of him, but the wind was almost dragging him backward. We had a 1913 Empire (looks like a Model T, but made in Indianapolis) come in the shop once for a restoration. It had metal fenders, but the body and frame were made out of wood. It also had mechanical brakes that were basically just a leather belt wrapped around a drum that tightened up when you hit the pedal. It was hi-tech for its time also, it had a 3 speed transmission. Just because it was state of the art doesn't mean it's still a good idea. Thank God they don't build 'em like they used to. F-111 canopies are fine, with only a few jumps on them, but they don't last nearly as long as ZP. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. See, I didn't even notice that they had "Wrasl'n" on the channel. I DVR the stuff I want to watch and hadn't noticed much else. Wow, they're spinning in the drain. I thought adding the Ghost Hunters type shows was a little questionable, but they're close enough to be okay. Adding Wrestling was just dumb, but it didn't hurt anything other than losing a couple hours of Star Trek re-runs. Switching Eureka to every other year really bothered me. Dropping BSG, and Atlantis is unacceptable. Dropping Atlantis as a series so they can sell us DVD's instead is just wrong. I'm probably done with the channel after this Friday. I like the rubber band because it's reusable, you can use the zoom and auto focus without having to run to your gear bag for more tape. I've noticed that my auto-focus can't always decide what to focus on, so it won't let me take a picture. I have that happen on the ground, so it's surely going to happen in the air sometime. I've also picked up a speck of dirt on my lens when climbing out of the plane that was big enough for the auto focus of my video camera to focus on, it completely ruined the video. That was on a fun jump so it didn't really matter, but I can't have something like that happen on a work jump. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 0:2:? Did a hop-n-pop Saturday morning, got my first Skyhook cutaway (but far from my first cutaway). Fell in a crick going to pick up my main and got my feet wet, but I found all my stuff. Holy moley I'm outta shape. I love my 168 Rmax, it flies so much better than my Raven 1. Sunday went better, did outside video for Larant from Rhythm XP. Here's the rig racks I built for one of my dz's. They're much bigger than what you're after but it may give you some ideas. I was told to build them heavy duty, to make sure they would last forever, he never told me to do that again. The frame is 2" square tube, the rods are 3/4 solid roundstock, the flat stock under the rods are 1/4x1 1/4. I drilled the holes for the rods all the way through the frame so I could weld from both sides. They are very sturdy, I weighed 220 lbs, and I could jump up and down on them. That's 2 1/2 inch PVC I slipped over the rods after they were painted. I filled the pipes with expanding foam. It's important to fill from the wall side first and let that dry before you fill the rest, it won't dry right if you don't do that. After the foam dries, cut the excess foam off and put caps on the end. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane.
