  1. 1. 918 jumps. 2. 6 cutaways. 3. 1 Tension knot. 1 Canopy exploded on opening. 1 Premature brake release. 1 Risers on right side tied together in a big knot by a premature brake release. 1 Lineover that cleared, but left a line burn hole through the canopy. 1 Linetwists. The fourth was jump number 297, the rest were spread out more. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 2. Is there a limitation if I'm only using it for a PC? "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  3. We didn't do them, that is why we are still around. The only one I know that tried Mr. Bill jumps are no longer in the sport. Sparky Actually we were too busy doing other stupid shit. But that’s another thread. I love the old timers I know, they did unbelieveably stupid stuff, like "BASE jump" off an 80 foot bridge, 6 jumpers in a 182 etc... One guy opened so low they could see him in freefall by the security light on the end of the hangar, then they heard his heels break when he landed. 4. I think this would be considered a full face (without a shield) with top mount. I guess our idea of what a full face is differs. http://www.skysystemsusa.com/helmets/vapor_wes_pro.html Yes it does. I'm sure when most people think of a full face helmet, they're going to picture something like a Z1, where the face shield opens up over the top of the helmet. 5. I say less than 101 jumps. Once you've done one, or a couple, you'll get over it and move on to something else. Stay away from straps of any kind, that's the biggest factor in the Mr.Bill gone horribly wrong stories. Ask some of the old timers at your dz how they used to do it back in the day, then do exactly what they say. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 6. I'm thinking if I wanted to add a face shield to a CCM or other type of rear entry helmet I would run a hinge vertically on one side and a latch on the other side. If I wanted to make life very difficult on myself I would build a fiberglass piece to create a flat surface for a hinge somewhere on my forehead but still under the camera's. Then put a latch on the chin, but it would take some creativity to get a latch that couldn't impale your chest on opening. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 7. I'm sure it would be a piece of cake to build a mount that had clearance for the shield to slide under, but man would it look scary from a snag point perspective. You don't see top mounted full face camera helmets because it's not really a good idea. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 8. I thought skydivingmovies.com pretty much sucked. Nearly all the videos I wanted to watch wouldn't play for one reason or another, yes all my players were updated. I vote for both versions, but I have dial-up so I can't watch videos anyway right now , I used to have cable BTW . "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 9. That's just all wrong. People don't usually color their reserves like a main. It was common back in the day to use same canopies for main and reserve (Raven 1 main, and Raven 1 reserve), then use the reserve as a main once the original main had too many jumps on it. Maybe that's why it's colored like that, it was going to be used as a main eventually. I've seen on here where you have to pick canopies/containers/etc. from drop down lists, that could be why the stuff at the bottom is wrong. No excuse for the top info as far as I can see. 10. I think the Dash M came out around 2003, I almost got one. I got lucky and found a deal on a Raven 1 instead. I have a R-Max 168, maybe that's what they meant. English is a second language for some people on here, maybe they got it translated wrong. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 11. I don't think he develped Bones enough to do his story wrong. For some reason I don't remember Uhura being developed in the original series, she was always in the background. Maybe we're just used to the way the newer series gave all the main characters their day in the sun. I liked the New Star Trek, but I could've done without destroying Vulcan. I could've done without Enterprise destroying Florida when that wasn't in the storyline of any of its previous shows. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 12. TV/400/ISO 400 is what I start with, then adjust accordingly during the day. Sunset pictures are an art form that venture far from the green box settings. 13. I like my circular polarizer for on level shots with sky in the background, not so much for RW from above. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  14. Compare them to see if the RSL rings are on the same side of the riser. If they match or if you don't have a RSL then yes they will. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  15. Spotting is something that you learn at a non-turbine dz, there's no one yelling "green light" or "go go go". We could learn to pack at anytime during the student program, meaning you had to pack to graduate. Being graduated means you are capable of safely taking care of yourself. 16. My first was a tension knot on a student rig, jump #52. I recognized it, cutaway and pulled the reserve. It wasn't even a little scary at the time. A week later, after I had time to think about stuff that could've went wrong, I got a little nervous, then my jump went okay and I was over it. 17. Thanks Sandy, I forgot about the extra leverage from going over the top of the riser. The extra height makes it easier to adjust the rate of turn in the middle of the turn. I can pull 4" of left front riser for half the turn, then increase it to 6" for the rest, or pull the right front riser too if I'm really high. 18. Yes it is the pilot chute, it's due for a repack in December, I'll get it taken care of next spring, there's plenty of tension on the closing loop in the meantime. 19. Here's my rig. V-347 with Cypres 2, Skyhook, 21" risers with Tru-lok toggles and Louie Loops, Precision R-max 168 reserve, Competition Cobalt 150 main, the new updated magnetic riser covers, and the reserve staging loop mod. 20. I did static line and graduated in 24 jumps. Our program had 21 jumps, I failed the dock and re-dock 3 times. We had a student show up at our dz this weekend that "graduated" in 7 jumps in Lodi. He doesn't know how to turn on his CYPRES, pack, spot, or even pick up his gear after he lands, but he's "graduated". "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 21. I'll try to get pictures Monday night, I didn't pack before I left the dz Saturday. I'll get pictures of how I place the risers and what it looks like closed up. 22. Quotenot much difference in pack volume...it doesn't make you gain more speed. it is just more comfortable on fingers. They're very easy to find and get your fingers in without looking. I pack them with the front riser towards the backpad side of the tray, and the rear riser above it. They don't stick out any extra that way. I have them on both my rigs, love them. 24. +1 Kim you know you are a hottie! You're awesome Rob, but I am no Sarah!!! She is hot. I am average!!!! You're hot too Kim, maybe not as hot as Sarah though.
