  1. I would like to see the relationship cutaway picture redone with a couple minor changes. The ring needs a solid black background so it doesn't blend into the asphalt. I would make a fake stop sign to cast a shadow across where the ring would be, the using a carboard template. spraypaint the road flat black. The ring should stand out against the "shadow" but still sparkle in the sunlight. I would then try a vertical shot with the camera much lower, like 20 or 30 degrees from the road, to give some depth. Crop it so you can't see the sign isn't really there. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  2. The difference is that you can record onto an HC30 series like a VCR, comes in handy for dubbing. The power switch may stick out farther on the 32 than on the 21, but I'm not positive. I know that the bracket I made for a guys HC32 had to be cut out more to clear the power switch than my HC30 was. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 6. Mark Lancaster, aka Masterrigger1, from Skyworks does work on Atair's stuff. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  7. The ZPX material from Aerodyne packs smaller than regular ZP, you could probably have a Pilot 168 that packs the same as the 150. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  8. The place I started at used to have a lipstick type camera mounted to an inspection plate by the strut. The pilot had a toggle switch to turn it on, it transmitted to a VCR on the ground (yes VCR), you could watch live from the ground. He tried to get it legalized, but the FAA never got back to him. The transmitter burnt out, so it went to the trash heap. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  9. Is there a certain size you want the pictures in? I'll have to do "save for web" in Elements to meet the file size requirements. I'm in the process of getting an entry, just want to have a few to pick from before I decide which one to enter. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 10. There was an article on here somewhere from Bill Booth about how the reversed risers have other issues. The breakaway cable has more potential to get suckthrough the grommet on the riser, preventing the cable fro passing through. The white loop going over the ring and through the riser is actually a mechanical advantage that you lose with reversed risers, which makes for a hard pull. I used to have a set on my rig, I'm glad I don't anymore, but they did work correctly in my case, I had an open canopy and wasn't spinning. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 11. I've heard that some Volvo's have a nut on the suspension that has to be torqued to over 1000 foot/pounds. The mechanic described a 10 foot cheater bar and 100 pounds of weight. Any Volvo experts know for sure? Sounds like a pinion nut for a rear axle, haven't seen many parts big enough to take that kind of torque that don't involve driveline components. In college we had to take a driveshaft yoke off of a Fuller Roadranger tranny that weighed 670 lbs.. We clamped a 12' piece of angle iron to it for leverage and had 6 guys hold on to it while our instructor ran a 1" drive impact on it. You would normally take that nut off before you pull the tranny out of the truck. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 12. You say that, but about 15 years ago I snapped the nipple clean off a 1/2" drive Craftsman breaker bar, taking the drive nuts off my VW. 36mm and a factory torque of 300 ft/lbs. I had 10ft of pipe on that thing and I was standing on it! Still didn't break the nut loose. You mean because you later found out it was left hand thread? 13. Beyond that, for a right now solution, what sort of shop tools do you posses? I'm picturing a piece of 1/8"X2" steel, bent to match the nut, and turned with a pipe wrench. A welder would be handy to weld a socket in place for a ratchet. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 16. Crash is an awesome movie too, it's been #1 on the Netflix top 100 for the 2 or 3 years I've had Netflix. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  17. Mine was caused by a sudden change in wind direction, according to 3 other jumpers that were in the air with me. I was flying slightly crosswind when a gust hit me and folded my canopy up. The guy right behind me saw it happen and turned into it in time, so did the guy behind him. A guy on the other side of the landing area saw all 3 of us get hit, then got hit himself a few seconds later. I thought it was just turbulence until I got back to the hangar and found out from spectators that my canopy folded in half. It was a Nitron 170@1.6 W/L, the winds were heavy and a little bumpy, I believe we were on an A license wind hold. A highly qualified canopy pilot told me to get on the brakes a little, just enough to take the slack out but not enough to slow the canopy, to improve your reaction time if you need to stab at the toggles. 19. In the case of a certaion dz in southern Indiana they send out emails telling the fun jumpers to stay home because the planes are full of tandems, all 3 days of a 3 day weekend. That's pretty much the extreme end though. Most of the time a tandem mill will cut fun jumper loads to send tandems first. I've been on a load that got told to exit at 6,500 because they needed to send one more tandem before dark, we only got charged to go to 6,000 though. You're probably at a tandem mill when you can't jump with a friend because there's only one slot left after the tandem with video, all day long. Or how about when they send two tandems on each load, then tell the fun jumpers they can't go because the plane needs to be on the ground when they're done packing the tandems. 20. Clearly you've never met Bob. That was the first place I thought of too. One of my friends went down there and paid $28 to jump our old 182, after much begging to even be allowed to jump. 21. I learned from a book back in elementary school, but don't remember how to do it now, that was a few years ago. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  22. I was looking at this lens also, I don't intened to use it for skydiving only. I need a faster lens for low light pictures, and it sure would be nice to only have to carry around the 17-70 and a 70-300. My concern is with the width, it lists as 72 degrees, where as my Tokina 19-35 lists as 98 degrees. I was hoping for something just a little wider than my current 19mm but not a fisheye like the 15mm. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 23. Triangulated ( H-modded, restricted) nose. That makes the airfoil even more rigid and the recovery even longer than that standard. I can not compare to anything, because I have not jumped anything else on that wing load. I think it works fine, it opens OK, flies great and it has a nice flare on WL 2.2+. I believe the lines are longer also, like almost as long as the next size bigger canopy. To me, my Comp Cobalt 150 dives harder and faster than the Stilleto 150 I jumped (W/L @ 1.8). It also isn't quite as twitchy, but then I had to add 5 inches to the brake lines, so that may have taken some of the twitchiness out of it. Masterrigger1 (Mel) is also a source for Cobalt info. 24. I like those other sports. They don't have banjo music as an anthem. They did use "Fuel" by Metallica one year. I used to watch it back in the early nineties. Now it seems a lot like the I.R.O.C. series where they want all the cars to be the same, except for the stickers on them. When's the last time you could buy a new car with a carburetor, 1987? They've completely gone away from their roots, but they won't step up to the modern era either. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  25. The cam and gears are what killed your mileage. It's more fun to drive now, which is what you were after, right? My 4 cylinder '94 S10 used to get 27MPG, it dropped to 12 MPG with the V8. It's a blast to drive now. My '94 Geo Metro would average 49 MPG, without being a hybrid. The frame rotted out, so my plans are to build a tube frame for it and eliminate everything that isn't neccesary. Under 1,000 lbs. is my goal. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane.
