I have these tiny skinny girls come and try them on in my shop and then they look at me and say:"I love these but can you adjust them, they don't seem to fit properly" -Chanti-

Wow. I've never seen that graph before. That really puts things into perspective. Sad thing is, it seems to be escalating - what can be done? We don't have the manpower to deal with all the crime. -Chanti-

Check out Skydive Plettenberg Bay. It's a Cessna DZ but the people there are very friendly and the views are amazing (we saw whale and dolphin from the plane!) My avatar is a sunset pic taken from my home DZ in Pretoria ... so it's really pretty everywhere in SA!!

[ AND I hope you tossed the lenses, otherwise it will happen again! -Chanti- -
Hi Bev I hope your friend is doing OK. It sucks that we have to be afraid whenever we leave our driveway, the office, the shopping mall, especially when we're female and driving around alone at night. I've tried to leave SA twice but my roots are here -Chanti-

That way the criminals win -Chanti-

How long has it been since your last reserve ride?
chanti replied to peckerhead's topic in The Bonfire
July 15th 2006 3rd reserve ride ... only this time I didn't walk away from it ... the ambulance came to fetch me after the grim reaper had decided a broken leg was enough for now -Chanti- -
Dytter Flatline? (Not 1st or 2nd warning)
chanti replied to ntrprnr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
4000, 3000, 1700 for 4-way It's quite creepy hearing the flatline in freefall -Chanti- -
Had a hard pull once after packing my pilot chute a different way. I wrestled with the damn thing until I heard my hard deck alarm go off (1700 ft). I was under reserve by 1000 ft but after landing realised my cypres had fired. It was 3 weeks before the cypres was due for its 8 year service so the timing was good!

Tips on Healing Up Broken Femur...?
chanti replied to somethinelse's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Mine's already healed (the bone) at 5 1/2 weeks but it's not strong. Another 2 months for that. As for the muscles - LONG! I'll be off the crutch in a week or so but my quads are weak, I'm limping. Muscle strength depends on what you put in physically. -Chanti- -
Ask your optometrist. In my practise I keep catalogues of sport eyewear and have been able to help not only skydivers, but bikers, cyclists, golfers, climbers, etc etc. -Chanti-

I had one of those for my first 100 jumps - it's a great canopy, very docile. I loved it so much that I downsized to its 150 equivalent -Chanti-

My 100th! First 8-way ... and butt naked Hee hee One of the guys on the 8-way wrote in his log book: "8-way with naked blonde chick!" -Chanti-

Tips on Healing Up Broken Femur...?
chanti replied to somethinelse's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I broke mine 5 weeks ago and healing well so far, down to only one crutch! The biggest thing that helped me was/is physiotherapy - EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE! The muscles become very weak due to inactivity. Do weight bearing as soon as the doc says it's ok. ----------------------------------------------------------- -Chanti- -
Thanks Phreezone! Those were exactly what I was looking for! ----------------------------------------------------------- -Chanti-

Forgive me if this has been asked before - I have done a search and did not get very far. I would like advice from all the wise RW skydivers on how best to build up a rookie 4-way team. Anything from what type of jumps to plan, how to debrief jumps, tips on turning those points faster - any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are planning a team tunnel trip early next year, but until then ... any tips? Thanks everybody!

Awesome! I got Miss Piggy! I totally identify with that! Dress size: If it's expensive, it fits ------------------------------------------------------------ -Chanti-

Did the honours myself! had a different mal every time too! The last time was the funniest. I had a "bad feeling" and unpacked the pack job and repacked myself a nice little mal. Starting to think TUG/TUB -Chanti-

Agreed. I've been very grateful all 3 times for my D-handle. Easy to grab when you're in sh*t. ----------------------------------------------------------- -Chanti-

I love that! About a week and a half ago as I was wheeled into the recovery ward after a pin was inserted into my now halved femur, the lady in the next bed wanted to know what had happened to me. I took about fifteen minutes to explain carefully in the simplest layman language possible about my reserve ride and off-DZ landing and low turn to avoid powerlines. An hour later when her husband came to see her, she said:"Hi honey, this is Chanti - she's a skydiver and her chute didn't open" ! ------------------------------------------------------------ -Chanti-

It's not as hard fast a tradition in the US as it is in other parts of the world... Darn, I got suckered! Was great fun but the poor jumpmaster got an eyeful. My teammates and I now want to go do a naked night 4-way ------------------------------------------------------------ -Chanti-

Don't you have to do it for your 100th? ------------------------------------------------------------ -Chanti-
