  1. 4 1/2:0:1 4 1/2 hours in Bedford tunnel last week!! Beer for my very first tunnel trip! What an awesome holiday - over way too soon. Bedford, I'll be back!!
  2. My teammate recently had the same problem - though his was self-induced Airtec was awesome - they repaired it no charge. If you like you can PM my buddy - his DZ.com name is nicolaos -Chanti-
  3. I second that Had my first tunnel trip last week (yes, we have to go to another country to get to a wind tunnel!) I'm completely addicted. With the sucky exchange rate of R15 to the pound, I might have to start robbing banks in order to sustain my habit -Chanti-
  4. I got that from my orthopaedic surgeon just before they wheeled me in for surgery. Through the morphine haze I managed to reply "because the door was open" He loved it -Chanti-
  5. (Disclaimer: I am NOT a Celine Dion fan and don't listen to her music ... but): When I got back into skydiving after a 6 month break, there was a Celine Dion song that always seemed to be on the radio while I was driving to the DZ. I don't even know the name of the song but the lyrics go something like this: You and I were meant to fly High above the clouds we'll sail across the sky So come with me And you will see That we're soaring That we're floating up so high Cos you and I were meant to fly -Chanti-
  6. Good on you for making a decision and sticking to it! I've had 3, the first one was at jump 42 on borrowed gear ( a tension knot), the second at jump 121 (hard pull) and third at 186 (toggle fire, which in hindsight I shouldn't really have chopped ... but hey) -Chanti-
  7. I agree. I like option 2 but not "battling" (puts it in a negative context). Choose something more positive like overcoming/facing/defeating ... ? Having said that, the "relax" part of option 1 really helped me the other day when I had a scary canopy situation. I could hear your voice saying:"breathe in ... relax ...." Helped me land without injury! -Chanti-
  8. I'm the most inexperienced person on the team. I love 4-way and would like to use this as a learning experience. The most experienced person on our team is hoping to go to World Meet ... soon! Another one is just doing it for fun, and the last is sorta inbetween me and the most experienced, as in wanting to learn but also to go really far with this. At this stage, who knows what's gonna happen - I'm just hoping for a decent average at nationals!! -Chanti-
  9. :4:1 4 team jumps, one very scary landing due to a knotted brake line Beer owed due to first Grand Caravan jump Hey Bev - nice skiddy skid skid landing Sunday! Woohoo: swoopa chics rock!! -Chanti-
  10. Advice: 1. Get your mini back 2. Hit on chicks with hot cars and date them so that you can borrow the car for the day. 3. Use public transport 4. Hire a chopper and skydive into work everyday Am I helpful or what?! -Chanti-
  11. No, we were 4 friends (novices) who just decided one day:"hey, let's do 4-way!" About 140 This will be our first nationals as a team, but we are taking it very seriously - having coaching once a month, creeping twice a week and going on an overseas tunnel trip in Feb (can't wait! ) Not yet but I'm sure there will be eventually. It is very hard to find four people who have exactly the same goals - in my experience people do 4-way for different reasons, and at this stage everybody seems to want somethng different from the team. It's fun. It's what made me realise that this is what I love and my discipline of choice. My ultimate goal would be to be part of a really cool all-girl 4-way team. -Chanti-
  12. I have exactly the same problem with my ZP EXE 150. Had lines checked and new brake lines put on ... no difference. I'm too nervous to do bigways in case an off-heading opening puts me in someone else's flight path. My conclusion was: new canopy when I can afford it -Chanti-
  13. That sounds awesome! So when are you planning another trip out to SA? -Chanti-
  14. Isn't the advanced course for people with tiny canopies and swooping? I just need to land my ass safely on the ground without breaking anything!! -Chanti-
  15. I did A year ago. But I could probably do with another one! -Chanti-
  16. I'm Chantelle and I'm a future tunnel-junkie. I have tunnel time booked at Bedford for February and I'm so excited I can hardly see straight. I have been counting the days ever since I paid my deposit! In our country we have no wind tunnels so this is a very exciting prospect but if I get addicted I might have to emigrate! -Chanti-
  17. I've had 3 off-landings - all 3 under reserve. The best one was in a soccer field in a military base. Boy were those soldiers surprised! It was kinda like a weird show jump -Chanti-
  18. They're gorgeous, Tash! Congrats on becoming a "mom"! Cats are awesome pets (of course, right now they're thinking YOU'RE an awesome pet and they're wondering what the heck are you doing in THEIR house anyway? ) I'll come see them in Feb! Merry Xmas -Chanti-
  19. Hi Brian I would like your advice on the correct canopy type for me. I have always had square canopies and have been ok with them (not ecstatic, not unhappy). Recently some of my friends have suggested that I try an elliptical canopy (NOTE: I do not not swoop, nor do I wish to become a swooper). One of my female friends said she had had some trouble with her landings (as I am now) and for her the hurricane was more "lifty" and therefore easier to land. Is this true? I am currently happy with my canopy size (150) and will probably stay with this size for at least another 150 - 200 jumps or so before I even think of downsizing. I am open to trying out new canopies but not convinced the planform would make such a difference? Having said that, I know that my canopy has a very steep angle of attack, maybe the hurricane would be less so? Advice please! Thanks Chantelle -Chanti-
  20. My mother hates that I skydive and she refuses to support me or even come out to the DZ. Earlier this year when I broke my femur, this only made matters worse. I used to be upset about this until recently when my fiance broke his leg during a demo jump ... and I caught myself saying:" well, if you weren't so reckless doing demo jumps ... " and then realised: Eek, I sound like my mother!!! So I can relate to that worried feeling that parents always seem to have and I now have a deal with my mother: We don't talk about skydiving. She prefers it that way. -Chanti-
