  1. I did the same thing once and it also wrapped around my glove which was a little big for me at the time. I couldn't free my finger but fortunately I was flying a big docile square back then, so a little input on the other toggle kept me flying straight and i landed ok. Now I have gloves that fit me properly and I always stow the excess brake line in the keeper. -Chanti-
  2. Yay! You rock! Go Girl!!! By the way ... how's your knee? Mine sucks - I tore ligaments with that last superman landing! -Chanti-
  3. Thanks Bigun, I know! I'm reading it as we speak!
  4. I haven't received the speech, I'm just wondering if maybe i'm kidding myself about my actual abilities. When I had the malfunctions, it was a simple task for me to decide - no, i can't land this thing, time for EPs, and it was surprisingly easy. Landing a canopy consistently, accurately and without breaking anything however, is another beast I can't seem to tame Absolutely, I know I will. Despite all the trouble, I love everything about the sport and I know I will never willingly be able to quit. I guess I'm gonna shut up and jump -Chanti-
  5. I'm 28 Not all that much That has changed in the 3 years that I have been jumping. When I had just started skydiving, I was open to trying new things, even if they made me feel a bit more apprehensive than usual. Since my accident last year, I have been almost overly cautious ... almost paranoid about getting hurt again. In fact, most of the time that was all that i was thinking about on the way to altitude -Chanti-
  6. OK, so in my meagre 226 jumps, I have: 1. Broken a femur 2. Sprained an ankle twice 3. Had 3 reserve rides 4. Torn ligaments in my knee 5. Left half the skin on my hands all over the runway Recently a whuffo friend said:"don't you think somebody is trying to tell you something?" I've never once thought about quitting, not even after the femur incident, but when is it time to say:"maybe i'm just not cut out for this?". I love skydiving and I don't want to quit, but I also don't want to be the female version of Scott Lutz Do other people go through this as well? -Chanti-
  7. What an awesome cake! I love it!! Congrats and many happy jumps 2gether! -Chanti-
  8. ::0 No jumps - my knee is still screwed from 2 weeks ago and I have a new canopy I'm dying to try out. AND we lost the cricket ... not a very good weekend -Chanti-
  9. Well ya still made it look good! Seriously though, what I really liked was that there were dedicated swoop loads, the exits were planned according to wingloading and there were several run-ins to separate jumpers - no chance of canopy collisions. I know it was a competition, but how about applying that to normal jumping? I always land on the very far side of the DZ because I worry about being in the way of the faster canopies. -Chanti-
  10. And you forgot our boy Herschelle smacking 6 sixes off an over - YEEHA! That was art! Can't wait for the Saturday Aussie bashing!!!! -Chanti-
  11. Would you rather recommend the Pilot for someone like me? That is the other canopy I was considering. I sent it to PS the other day and Chris made some alterations to the left brake line at the cascades which made it better than it was before, but still not 100%. I have 2 female friends who have switched from ZP EXE to Hurricane and they are much happier - say the input is better especially with flaring which is the other problem I'm having with the EXE -Chanti-
  12. Almost! I've got a ZP EXE and was going to try a Hurricane (is that not semi?) That's OK, I get off-heading openings on my ZP anyway! I'm looking for something that gives a bit more lift. The ZP EXE has a very steep angle of attack. -Chanti-
  13. Hey guys - I need some info please. I've done all my 226 jumps on a square canopy and this weekend I will be trying out a semi-elliptical for the first time. What changes in flight characteristics can I expect? Note: I am not downsizing - I'm happy with my 150 sq ft as I have to wear weights for 4-way and that makes my wing-loading about 1.2:1. I'm also quite conservative under canopy (don't hook-turn, do straight-in approaches, etc) Thanks for your input!
  14. :4:0 Perfect jumping weekend. Did some very cool 4-way - finally managed to get block 6 perfect! But then I injured my knee on a nasty landing and now it's twice the size of the other one -Chanti-
  15. I agree with you that these are not a replacement for sunglasses, but I think it's a feasible option for our sport, especially for those who have to get prescription goggles specially made up. On the note of contact lens UV protection - I know that Johnson & Johnson specifically advertise their lenses as having "UV protection" - I have not read any journals on this, however, but do you think this is not the case? -Chanti-
  16. Nike have brought out contact lenses for sportsmen (and women! ) that have the same properties as sunglasses. They look a bit weird (you have a choice of green or orange ) but at least that way you'll still have eye contact with your teammates. -Chanti-
  17. :4:0 Awesome awesome weather - perfect jumping weekend! I love my country! -Chanti-
  18. He he! Yes, it's THAT old! I've been back in the air for 5 months already and done 23 jumps since breaking myself. My metal is due to come out in May ... can't wait!
  19. We have 2 huskies that get hungry around 5 AM .... nuff said! Funny how the neighbours haven't complained yet ... -Chanti-
