  1. If anyone has can we cancel the impending invasion retroactively? My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  2. If at the "divide the legs" stage you are still dangling and not standing at attention then you are probably too old to worry about multiplying. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  3. 1. Texas 2. That right to bear arms 3. You can buy beer in a corner store rather than a government run liquor outlet. If every country had those three things no-one would ever feel the need to leave home and immigrate somewhere else. 4. What was the precident set during prior hijackings where the planes were used as weapons? I am only vaguely familiar with what happened in the cases where the terrorists landed the planes and made demands. Until 911 how many planes were intercepted and shot down before they could be used as weapons? 5. But..but..but...Charlie Sheen and Rosie Odonnel said so. It must be true! My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  6. Very true. A flip side to that coin is that rape is an epidemic on some (many) campus's so predators might think twice if the little petite girl who epitomises vulnerability might actually have the means to harm or kill him. In fairness I can see that the suicide issue would be a big problem My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  7. As a rule of thumb I have found that most people who have been brought up religious their whole life pretty much keep it to themselves and only bring it up when it is relevant to the matter at hand. It's the ones that have lived bad lives and "find god" that never seem to stop preaching. Incedentally why do drunkards go to hell? Is what we do really that deserving of punishment? Where is the harm/sin? My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  8. Usually by nine, you are trusted to wander off on your own a bit. The parents may have had rules about not going near the water unless the parents are there, but..kids will be kids. 9. As time passes society tends towards ethical behaviour. In todays day and age most people are aware of the stress that it puts on an animal to be caged and gawked at by people, and thus recognize that it is wrong My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  10. It's called panic and it is a human trait. If it was so unreasonable then people wouldn't always do it. If you have had even a few moments to contemplate (in a safe environment) what you would do the you have had more time than many of them and under less streessfull conditions. There must have been at least one stressfull situation in your life where you reactions failed you. You are sitting there in the routine doldrums of the average day, listenning to your professor talk about something and all of a sudden you hear shots, followed by screaming and more shots and it is coming your way. You cannot say that you would not feeze. You are unarmed and defenceless. Yes rationally if seventeen charged him they could have taken him out but the first five or six would die. If some guys took the lead then perhaps I might follow them; but who wants to volunteer to be the sacrificial lamb that hurls himself to death by having his intestines blown out to die screaming on the floor. Many of these things require one or two people to take the initiative but that is the hardest thing to do when you know it means certain death for you and maybe you will galvanize the resolve of others to follow your lead (or maybe they will just stand there and watch the hero die). Playing dead did save a few and might just seem like a fair panic based reaction under the circumstances. 12. As a former US soldier and one whose son serves in Afghanistan, I find your generalization repugnant, but I have come to expect that from you. Stevorino, Sorry you have to hear nonsense like that from time to time. I hope Americans realize that not everyone from Canada (or Europe) thinks this way. 13. Not getting into the middle of this argument but independant of the gun issue I wish more people would be willing to say what you just said about the constitution. We claim to be a society that questions everything. We can question patriotism, we can challenge our parents and authority, and even question the existence of God but people seize up in a collective gasps of horror when someone even thinks about adjusting that sacred script and then they revert back from critical analysis to dogma. I know, hijack, sorry. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

    Boxing

Tried it once. Wasn't very good but it was amazing exercise. Would prefer to just watch it now. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

  16. Wasn't designed as a P.R. tool Sometimes if neccessary I used that term loosely. Curry My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  17. Looks like they were trying to restrain him via normal means for some time and grew tired of it. Do I really need to explain that one to you. Doubt it. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  18. I realize there are risks but he seemed like a very healthy strong guy. I can't imagine that the probability of death is very high in a case like that. Again he had the ability to put an end to the tasering at any time. He just needed to cooperate. I don't meen to sound cold but it just seems that people always disrupt the regular flow of society and the activities of people who have actual work to do simply because they have nothing better to do than make a scene. If he was restrained in cuffs and unable to move while they jolted him endlessly I would object but this did not seem to be that big of a deal. Physical discomfort being used as a tool for compliance by cops is pretty standard. The person being persuaded to comply simply resists until he decides that he no longer wishes to deal with the increasing discomfort. If I had an exam the next day and there was no-where else to study I would be furious if they allowed that scene to play out for hours on end rather than ending it as quickly as possible. 19. I suppose I would not die from repeating myself, but I would also not die from tasering the guy. And the second option would be much more expedient. Students were studying (or trying to) and he was disrupting everything so, why let everything grind to a halt because he wants to use the library as his personal confronation space. Imagine if you had a major exam the next day and the library was your only study space, but you had to try and study in a coffe shop for the rest of the night because he was holding his personal protest in the library. They resolved the situation much quicker that way and allowed everyone to get back to studying for exams. It's not like they beat the guy senseless with their clubs. 20. I was not aware that "ho" was a racial slur. I have seen that term used to describe women of all ethnicities. The "ho" component of his comment was not racist, just rude. 21. Beats having to repeat yourself indefinitely. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  22. Wouldn't worry about it. This is just the latest passing fad for these losers. Next week they will be screaming about our obligation to hug a gay baby whale, or they will chain themselves to a beer store demanding the right to legalized crack cocaine to lighten them up while they spend all day jerking off to the government subsidized internet porn they will demand next. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  23. Fuck, that's not a lot of time. Why am I always the last guy to hear about these things? Bill, how long have you known it was going to end? Why didn't you say something sooner? Oh shit this sucks so bad! My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  24. OK I love lamb...rare! Veal...I do not eat it. I heard some scary stuff (don't know how true it is) about the manner in which veal calves are treated and my conscience bugged me so I leave it alone (if these are just myths someone please let me know) Horse...never tried it. I was not aware that it was considered livestock. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  25. Wasn't neccessarily saying that. I have just found it frustrating the way people are willing to judge them. People have refered to them as cowards for surrenderring, rather than gloriously getting slaughtered for no purpose by using light arms agains six (that was the number on the news) heavily armed gunboats. Then everyone (most who have never been there) are calling them cowards for the decisions they made under captivity OK I want to be very carefull with what I say next, because i do not wish in any way to be misconstrued as being disrespectful to those men. My point though is; what if anything was accomplished by those men at the Hilton enduring unending torture? Honour? I respect their courage but if there was nothing to be gained by holding out indefinitely then I think it is tragic that those men were indoctrinated to beleive they had to endure such horors and permanent physical/mental damage lest they be accused of "dishonour". As Stevorino has pointed out, intel changes, why did those men at the Hanoi Hilton not cooperate a little? I hope our military has more concern for the lives and well being of our soldiers than to expect them to sacrifice themselves under hidous torture for at best outdated intel and at worst mere propaganda. They were isolated and under the impression that there may have been an error in navigation (i am sure self doubt must come into play). They were told that they could face up to seven years in prison for this, and then told that an apology might get them off the hook. I doubt the average soldier is heavily versed in law and/or international law so they might have beleived they were in deep shit. Given the fear they were undoubtedly feeling, I can sympathise with their decision. The key question to balance against these risks is this: "What real harm did these guys do by offering an apology and shaking the Iranian presidents hand?"
