I'm no fan of the POTUS, as he lies constantly and is wrecking America. I'm no fan of Sarah Sanders, as she lies about his lies. However... This is a microcosm of politics in America and the divide. I used to own the Bent Prop in Eloy and a drop zone in California. If I allowed my employees to vote on who we served, a few of you never would have gotten a burger or a jump. Tossing Sanders out was a bullshit move. The owner could have asked to speak with her about policy. If Sanders didn't want to talk, she could have just moved on. Serve her dinner. We hate discrimination, unless it works towards our bias. What Sarah Sanders did on her government Twitter account was a bullshit move and an ethics violation. What Trump did on Twitter was a continuation of his complete lack of class he has shown his entire life. What protesters are doing on social media and other protests against the Red Hen (even the wrong one) is a bullshit maneuver. And old man Huckabee saying the restaurant was serving up bigotry was a joke, because he is the king of bigots. This divide in the USA will only get worse.

Great articles! Thanks! When my wife was pregnant, I saw pregnant women everywhere!!! She always sees numbers, like 11:11 as a sign. This> https://io9.gizmodo.com/5974468/the-most-common-cognitive-biases-that-prevent-you-from-being-rational should be a "sticky" at the top of every Speaker's Corner or facecrack argument.

He's the guy that gave us Sarah Palin on the national stage.

One of a kind... We did an inflatable Stanley Cup jump at Lost Prairie years ago. We "engraved" our names on it with a magic marker too. Always so much fun to hang out with him over the past 25 years. -
I can get you one. What do you need it for?

The part you are missing. Trump's inability to grasp the difference.

Unconcious or uncontrolled reserve landing

A full face offers far more protection in a crash landing. -
The GOP has been screwing veterans for years. You can "google" it.

Larger than life. He was one of a kind. Damn...

Take a canopy course. You'll be flying and landing like a pro in no time.

Whew! THAT was close! We almost were stuck with Obamacare, a spiraling deficit, a war with Syria, a criminal investigation into the president, another man in the White House that degrades and uses women, a scammer that tries to enrich their own pockets and a divided America. Glad we dodged that bullet.

It's a shame we can't send the National Guard to rural America with job applications and drug rehab councilors.

I have had 46 friends go in skydiving over the years. Another 10 have gone in BASE jumping. I have had to investigate fatalities as an S&TA. One was a kid sitting next to me on the ride to altitude, that I probably could have prevented if I checked his gear before he boarded. I high fived him on climb out. His two way followed us. His AAD was off. He didn't pull anything but his cutaway handle. I spent 20 minutes talking to a good friend, and my back was killing me that afternoon, so I didn't get on his jump. I watched him burn in after a canopy collision on break off 30 minutes later.. As an EMT, I have patched up some of the most gruesome injuries I have ever seen at various DZs, I have been a DZO and I organize international events. I'm very immersed in the sport. I handle the fear with the utmost respect that I have for gravity. You will never get the images out of your brain. I try hard to spread a culture of safety across this sport. It helps with handling the bad stuff. If my guidance saves one person, I have done my job and it helps me to deal with the ugly side of the sport. I think in this day and age we make jumping so easy for everyone. Everyone gets a trophy after AFF. The gear is pretty amazing now and AADs have given people a false sense of security. So I try to put the bad images on the back shelf of my pea brain and focus on the good, like keeping people alive and healthy by passing on some old fart wisdom. It really helps.

Unconcious or uncontrolled reserve landing
grimmie replied to gowlerk's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would like to think that if Sandy Wambaugh and Tom Piras had AADs (that fired, in the case of Tom) they may still be smiling on loads with us. We had a jumper saved with an AAD at my drop zone. She landed downwind into a fence and survived after a tracking jump collision. A lightly loaded reserve was a huge factor in her survival. She gained consciousness right at impact with the fence. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4445188;search_string=oceanside%20accident;#4445188 An unconscious jumper on a downwind landing will most likely impact feet first of course, and then flip directly to the head. I have been studying and witnessing these things for years. And treating the injuries. Facts. An AAD A full face helmet Well maintained gear A lightly loaded reserve picking your skydives wisely All lead to a better survival rate. -

IIRC Al Krueger had an AAD save and was unable to flare. -
Father, too old for DACA, deported after three decades in the U.S.
grimmie replied to BIGUN's topic in Speakers Corner
He was brought to the USA when he was 10. Paid his taxes, worked his jobs, never broke the law. Raised a family. Meanwhile, we have a nation full of white trailer trash, welfare abusing, drug addicted, non taxpaying 'Mericans allowed to stay and squander my tax dollars. Why, Oh why can't we get them deported somewhere too??? Does this deportation make you feel all warm and fuzzy? -
An incident with a helmet on is much more survivable with far less traumatic injuries than without. A helmet without a hard chin piece offers far less protection than one with.
