  1. If that was Gretz getting it, Semenko would have been on the guy like a cheap suit. It would not have been pretty! Old time hockey, Eddie Shore!
  2. There is nothing worse than a sick jumper sneezing or coughing all over the inside of the plane, getting the rest of us sick.
  3. Marchand punched Daniel Sedin about 10 times at the end of the third...no reponse. He just took it. That is why I cannot cheer for the Canucks. I play in a Saturday night beer league and on a pretty competitive fire department team in a Police/FD league. If some guy in either of those leagues started doing that to one of our guys there would be fisticuffs. Not one Canuck skated over to do anything about it. AND THIS IS FOR THE CUP! What would happen if someone pulled that with Gretzky, Bossy, Lafluer, Mario, Sid, Yzerman, etc?? That's why those teams won Cups. Grit. That's why the Canucks will lose game 7. No heart.
  4. I just hope you got him back before his nursing home day pass expired!
  5. It sure won't be the Sedin sisters or Luongo for the Conn Smythe!
  6. All of the new info is up at www.skydivenicaragua.com It's filling very fast.
  7. The right wingers haven't put many guesses up yet. So is Gov. Perry throwing his hat in the ring too?
  8. Remember when Don Cherry used to call the Swedish players "Chicken Swedes" about 25 years ago? All of the pressure is on Luongo. But if the Canucks only score 1 goal in 2 games...shame on them...
  9. Everything except the widely accepted "shit happens" factor, which should never be ignored. While widely accepted, the "shit happens" factor has never been implicated in a single fatality. Drowning upon landing, tangled pilot chute, slipping at an exit point, jumping a frozen solid canopy, off headings into the object and on and on. These aren't under the "Shit happens" category?
  10. All of the pressure is on Vancouver now. And mostly Luongo, which is French for Swiss Cheese.
  11. Well, this thread turned just how I expected. Come on guys and gals, pick your Prez and VP. I see a lot of the usual Republican posters haven't picked. Come on guys, you might get free beer outta me.
  12. Comparing BASE to skydiving is like comparing flying airplanes to helicopters. If you want to compare the safety aspects, it's pretty impossible because no one really knows how many jumps are made in the BASE community. The Perrine Bridge is without a doubt the most jumped object in the USA. It's legal and the landing area is large and forgiving. Most new jumpers get their start there as most of the BASE gear manufacturers, mentors and local instructors take their students there. I think the safety record there is pretty good. Probably better than most DZ's as far as fatalities per 1,000 jumps. But there isn't a way to keep track. Going hand held from Perrine is a safer jump than skydiving, there is so much less that can go wrong. When things get dicey in the BASE world is big walls, wingsuits, trying to out track a ledge, weather and other issues. Read through the Splatula BASE fatality list. There are a lot of low pulls, off heading openings and wall stikes. The more you add in BASE, the more the margin of error decreases. The same with skydiving, but it's magnified in BASE. The problems in BASE jumping are similar with new jumpers, as with skydiving. Newer jumpers try objects over their abilities, sort of like downsizing a canopy too quickly. One thing BASE jumpers are way better at than skydivers is knowing their gear and how to assemble it. BASE can be done safely. Comparing the safety records is impossible.
  13. Meryl, I'm so glad you're OK. I applaud you for bringing this to everyone's attention.
  14. Thanks, I thought so, just making sure.
  15. I am aware of Ron Paul and Pawlenty and others, are you aware of the thread rules, don't comment, pick two. That goes for you to Quade, pick, or no pizza and beer for you. And Bill Von, who are you going with, only two.
  16. I don't need 100, just cite one. signed, demanding little critter
  17. So I have been watching the Republican wannabes jockeying for position. Trump, Newt and now Bachmann, Rudy and Mitt. And the side show that is Palin upstages them all. I wanted to start a thread to see who you guys think will be the presidential and vice presidential nominees. I think it will be interesting to say the least this next year or so. A guy I know picked Palin as McCain's running mate before anyone really knew her last election season. I was pretty impressed with his Nostradamus like skill. I know it's SC and the usual suspects will turn this into a big liberal, conservative pissing match, but let's try to keep it simple. Pick a Republican president and vice preident ticket. Give your reasons why they will win the nomination. I'll go first. Jeb Bush-Don't laugh. I ran into former Florida Governor Charlie Crist at the Miami airport about 5 years ago. We chatted for a while and he said Jeb wanted to be president. With the current field stomping on each other, I think Jeb could ride out into the public eye and get a lot of support. (Poor Amazon just had a heart attack thinking about another Bush in office) He can also win Florida, a key to winning the race. And the Tea Party would love him and Sarah Palin could be his cheerleader. The talking heads at FOX would cream themselves. VP-Sam Brownback-He has international experience as a congressman, tows the party line well and doesn't have the appeal to be president, but would make a good running mate. That's my guess. I'll buy a few beers if someone picks both slots correctly. If a liberal picks correct, they get beer AND pizza! Next...
  18. Show me proof that an IRS agent showed up at a military funeral, or any other for that matter, harrasing the family for payment.

  20. Florida DZ's tandem biz would skyrocket. Really.
  21. Gary Thorne was the best! I have a pink autographed Don Cherry tie in my collection of hockey stuff. That was a great game 1! The Bruins had better figure out how to score a power play goal, soon. Great national anthem too!
