  1. You mean some gang banger just can't show up and drive a nuclear powered aircraft carrier. Who knew?
  2. I'm with you on that one. Now what ya got for me? Hey, no one is better prepared to discuss business taxes than the man who has gamed the system so well that his company doesn’t pay any at all. What’s that old saying — it takes a thief to catch a thief? This problem started long before Barack Obama came to Washington, or even the Illinois state legislature. The culprit here is not any one person but both parties, who have created a tax code that I’d call Byzantine, except I don’t want to offend the Byzantines with the comparison. When we see one company avoid paying any taxes thanks to tax breaks it helped engineer, that means other companies end up losing in the process. The government doesn’t just structure the code to protect its allies and favored players in markets, it also has to prioritize enforcement, thanks to the impossible task of applying the volumes of tax code to every single entity. The New York Times’ report treats as ironic the Obama administration’s solution to this issue — lowering the corporate tax rate — but it’s actually the right start. Not only do we need to lower the corporate rate to make it more competitive in the global market, but we need to rid ourselves of the massive, incomprehensible tax code that allows politicians to curry favor and pick winners and losers in the market. We need a flat-rate corporate tax that treats GE the same as it does its competitors, and that doesn’t allow Congress to create back-door subsidies and penalties for innovation and market success. Those reforms should come concurrently with a change to a rational corporate tax rate, not before, after, or in place of.
  3. Nice spin attempt - gotta love the lame attempt to tie it to Cheny, too. Unfortunately for your argument, it's legal - just like the Indian tribes in the other thread. I'm not arguing anything. Just pointing out that a company that got billions of US tax dollars ripped off the national piggy bank. Legal, yup. Right, nope. If you want to argue about underfunding programs, start here. And I'm not sure just how many Democrats or Independent voters sit on the board of Haliburton and KBR. And Dick Cheney ruled the roost, so how is tying him in not relevant? Maybe congress should have gone after this loophole instead of internet gaming. And before they awarded KBR billions in no bid $$$$. If Obama was in Cheney's shoes on this matter, you and Fox News would have been in an uproar.
  4. Is there any other kind of Christian? Don't know, but my aunt used to say the devil can quote scripture.
  5. I didn't see much outrage over this little payroll tax con game. http://www.boston.com/news/world/articles/2008/03/06/top_iraq_contractor_skirts_us_taxes_offshore/ Your Republican pals at work.
  6. That worries Rep. David Camp, R-Mich., chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, and a member of the House-Senate supercommittee tasked with finding new deficit cuts. Tax reductions, "no matter how well-intended," will push the deficit higher, making the panel's task that much harder, Camp's office said. Nice. Give tax breaks to the oil companies and corporate America. Give tax breaks to the "job creators". I wonder why Obama can't get America back to work over night? Geez, all of those job creators must be failing at their jobs. Well, let's see some creating!
  7. I think he's saying the Republicans are for underfunding America.
  8. Republicans are the party of really bad ideas. The Democrats are the party of really no ideas.
  9. http://lewrockwell.com/vance/vance254.html This guy gets it.
  10. Did you belong to the state's association? http://www.scfirefighters.org/ You know you have greatly benefited over the years from the IAFF's work, even if you weren't a member. Property taxes aren't high in Buffalo, NY because the firefighters are IAFF members. Have you ever been to that city? I have worked as a union firefighter without a current contract. No one shirked their duties or went on strike. We even gave up 4% when the city wasted $136,000,000 on a new sports arena. http://www.iaff.org/ I belonged to the IAFF for 31 years. The work they do for firefighter health, safety and education is outstanding. A city has three jobs. Put out the fires, put the bad guys in jail and pick up the trash. Lots of cities, states, counties and towns have gone bust trying to do business deals. It's easy to blame lots on the employees.
  11. Kill a baby because of activity limitations?? Clothes and visibility issues??
  12. I did a 2 way with John Eagle once from 2K and we turned a few points. That guy can move. Demo in Mexico from 1.8K over the crowd out of a 172. And got the flag out and flying by 1K. Watched a guy take a BASE rig (no slider) out of a 182 from 200ft. That was a great opening to watch, CRACK! That was in Oz, so don't be call'n the man on us.
  13. False analogy - health of the mother != whim of the mother Let me ask you this Mnealtx, So we have a two time unwed mother pregnant with her third child. We know she can't take care of her first two and depends on foodstamps and welfare to raise them. Do we put roadblocks in front of her having an abortion and as a society take on the task of supporting the third child child through foodstamps and welfare or do we mind our own buisiness ,let her terminate the pregnancy and save the tax payers some cash? Because from where I sit it seems you can't bitch about "freeloading foodstamp spending welfare Brood Mares " if you are against abortion. A tired old scenario. Let's cut Planned Parenthood funding. Bad idea. IMHO Lots of folks would love to adopt a child. A better option, IMHO. No one wins in abortion, not the unborn, not the woman. IMHO
  14. Ambien...spending too much time in Speakers Corner dude!!!
  15. Great advice! And non snarky too! See VB, it's possible. I guess I am tainted with my only cutaway experience. I was ridiculed to death for cutting away so high. 2000 ft, which was my hard deck at the time. (Low jump numbers) Ridiculed? I don't know what your malfunction was but chopping low has killed many jumpers. You should really examine where you jump and why they ridiculed you for living. When you experience a spinning malfunction all of your concentration goes up to the canopy. Remember there are other folks in the sky you could fly into easily. You could also fly into the ground easily. And to Da Vincie flies. You would be the same guy here crying if DSE told a guy to go away and not jump a wingsuit. Damn, we sure don't want to tread on someone's right to jump, now, do we????
  16. Sarah was watching the commies from her house and told Michelle all about the goings on there.
  17. As soon as the record event here in the USA is over (no joke) Some things are so predictable.
  18. So when does he leave for Norway?
  19. Unless he routed the bridle under the lines, it wouldn't have been able to dance its way into this configuration. I could freestow all of my lines and rotate the bag (which, I don't do anyways because it ends up making the container look bad usually) and so long as the bridle is clear, it will not be able to flip into this configuration. This is what appears to have happened. He claims he put the bridle on top of the Dbag after he rotated it, before he pulled up the loop. But..., when he demonstrated his packjob, the Dbag was rolled up twisted and backwards, bridle routed underneath. That's the only thing that makes sense to me, too. The combination of stowless D bag and open corners had this guy vexed, and he didn't ask anyone for help. And...how many guys have 400+ jumps and only 3-5 packjobs under their belts? way too many.
  20. Over then years I have seen way too many jumpers rush back into the plane after a serious injury. Heal. Follow your doctor's advice. Go slow. The sky will always be there.
  21. http://www.ministrykiosks.net/products_kiosk.htm Can't we at least get churches to pay property taxes????
  22. So do the Christians here want Perry to run to get their vote? Or are there others in the race you like better? Does this eliminate Romney because he is a Mormon? Just curious?
  23. Perry should do a bit less praying and a bit more governing. http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/14-reasons-why-rick-perry-would-be-a-really-really-bad-president
  24. A few years ago I said it's a good thing Bill Gates and Ted Turner don't team up for a mega lie. CNN could show Martians attacking and the Internet would back it! Of course I should add Zuckerberg to the group now.
