Crashing, not landing, into a tall tree without any safety gear on is going to hurt. Now add a 20ft fall to get down. The injury factor is very high. And yes, I have done one tree landing on a base jump, it wasn't fun...

The Conatsers love airplanes and flying. Good thing for us, or we wouldn't have super otters, porters, skyvans or a jet to leap out of. The jet was a "project". A huge challenge to be overcome and was. The WFFC was going to be a use for it, as are jumps at Perris. It's a good thing that the Coantsers, the Hills, etc. put up with a bunch of pain in the ass, smelly "up jumpers" for their love of aviation. The "Mega DZ" is a huge headache to run. The property and aircraft are worth WAY more than a DZ operation, but they won't be selling any time soon. Lucky for us...

What determines who goes to Gitmo? The Unabomber, McVeigh, they got trials and were terrorists. If that kid that shot up Virginia Tech lived, would he get sent to Gitmo? Ramzi Yousef and his gang got a trial in the US for bombing the WTC in '93. I think only one of them got away to Jordan and escaped conviction if i remember correctly. Khaled Shaikh Mohammed is his Uncle and helped mastermind that attack also. So give him a trial. We have tried international terrorists before, what is the hold up now? And why did they have to be detained on "Intl combatant' type charges? This entire Gitmo, hold 'em for years without charging and holding a trial for them stinks like bad fish. Oh, yeah, they might become a Martyr for the cause. Innocent until proven guilty...

I met a bunch of the ESPN crew and talent in Montana when they filmed the "50 in 50" segment about BJ Worth. We were discussing the X Games and skydiving. The network was very afraid of a skysurfer going in during the competition and it was very difficult to schedule because of the weather. One year they had to move the venue, and a competitor got hit by his camera flyer on landing. And of course, why sponsor something you can't sell...

We had one of our police officers taser a guy in 1984. He had doused himself, his girlfriend and their baby with gasoline. It was a real stand off with guns drawn and the Sgt. had a Taser. The perp had a lighter and was threatening to light them all on fire. The girlfriend made a dash for it when he dropped the lighter and bent down to pick it up. The Sgt. hit hm with the taser darts and shocked him. He ignited like Johnny Torch and was bouncing around the backyard on fire. We (the FD) arrived and doused him. He caught the garage on fire too, as he fell into the trash cans by the garage and it all started burning. He died on Christmas Day 1984 of serious burn injuries. Taser had never thought about this situation. The girlfriend sued the city but not Taser. They awarded her $400,000. I was an Arson squad guy at the time. Taser had us conduct a test with mannequins at our training facility. Every one doused with gas ignited when tased. A new warning was put out internationaly at once. I have been on about 30 or so taser patients(we get called when a perp gets it) and none of them have died since. Most of the people getting tasered are druggies or mentally ill.

I have travelled across OZ and been to small and large cities from Sidney to Corowa to Aerlie Beach. Talk about some scary racism...makes US Southern Rednecks look like Harvard Grads in some of the pubs. I think if Colin Powell came out of the woodwork and ran as an independent, apologized for drinking the GWB Kool Aid and wanted redemption, he would be elected in a landslide. When I look at Obama, I don't see a black man, just someone well spoken and educated that wants to work hard to right this country. We need a leader to pull Congress and the citizens together for a better future. GWB, Rummy, Rove, Cheney and Condy should be hung for treason against the US.
