  1. We had a slight problem with the extra weight in the plane, during the Euro Swoop finals at Lake Bussloo Beach (Teuge) last month. We had everyone weighed, and it turned out we could put 15 (somewhat selected) swoopers in our Grand Caravan, which normally takes 16-18 jumpers (depending on fuel). ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Of course you can. Just take a wrap (or more) on your steering lines and try again... Up high of course ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. It's called stallturns... Pretty awesome. Sometimes though, they are unrecoverable. Usually paragliders have round reserves though. A few weeks ago we even had a SL student do repetitive stall turns on a Manta (!) and he KEPT doing them untill 100 ft (!!), and that with an FXC on his rig... He got a talking to You don't even need to spiral. I've seen people get linetwists by "just" cranking a 90 degree toggle turn in their landing pattern, and it's way easy to get a smaller and/or more hp canopy to twist up by turning first one way then the other. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. I'd much rather you look where you're spiraling to! Unless you're 100% certain you're in the air by yourself. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. I know, this is an exceptionnal event and competitors are not covered by the french federation insurance contract. If they're not covered anyway, why not allow them to jump without AAD for this event? ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. This is with a single element lens (.3), totally forgot to add cat crap: http://www.12000ft.com/video/10.html ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. It's just an alti. http://www.parachutecase.nl/theshop/artikel/instrumenten/images/small-barigo1.jpg ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. It works fine, it just won't tell the the attitude much, beyond "higher than 12k" ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Put some anti condens stuff on the lens, I like CatCrap. ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. We had a European Swoop competition in Lapalisse this year. Swooping as a skydiving discipline is not recognized by the french skydiving federation (not covered by federal insurance) so for the moment there is no such thing as a "swooper" in france.... Even if, of course, you can see people doing swoops in every DZ, but for fun only. We had a European Swoop Tour competition in Lapalisse this year. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Perhaps activation/thresholds are different? Just looking to see if this has happened to other Neptune users, and what the threshold is, for FYI purposes. I have the latest version and it is reading nearly full battery. Never missed a neptune or time-out warning yet. Older software of the neptune may assume you opened your chute and stop beeping though. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. The reason Jonathan had a Cypres fire this year in France was because at that DZ (in the entire country actually) an AAD is mandatory. Personally I don't think making an AAD mandatory for those swoopers that a) maybe get wet every now and then and b) get in the 78 mph range is a good idea. Here in The Netherlands an AAD is mandatory untill your C. Most people have one after that anyway. But the best swoopers don't turn it on or don't even have one, their choice. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. SanDisk Ultra or Extreme cards, or the fastest Lexar cards. These only show their speed in a fast camera of course, like any of the digital reflex camera's, for the average pocket camera however this is overkill. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. No it doesn't. No AAD does. ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Maybe because it was a Cypres 2 and not a Vigil: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1834550;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. 230, 280 skymaster, manta 288, zp.exe 235, I think we have other zp.exe sizes. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. I saw a Heatwave fold up (nose folding under) a couple times too, at a few feet above ground. Ouch. Had to duck once because the peas were flying everywhere, the guy complained I hadn't taken any photo's afterwards We have these canopy control excercises you need to do before your A and B, including 2x3 consecutive fr turns (I can't do 'em...) One guy took his new to him Conquest up for those excersises, came down white as a sheet. Instructor: you prolly did it wrong. He actually burned the Conquest afterwards! ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Did my first 4 jumps on a vengeance 120 last weekend: 3 hopnpops from 9/12k plus 1 terminal opening at 11k, did toggle turns, fr turns, rr flight, harness turns, fr dive, half brakes, braked turn, flaring, stallpoint for toggles, stallpoint for rr. Landed straight in (no swooper yet ). Edited to say, And had a whole lot of fun doing it! We had a canopy control weekend, and 2 guys with velo's were doing follow-me-doing-fr-turns excersises, and I could sorta keep up with them by cranking out the hardest toggle turns I ever did. It helped they kept going back to brakes of course, but it was FUN! ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. I had one but didn't like it for freefall at all. Reflections make the small typeface even more difficult (impossible) to read. For canopy it's ok, then I can also put in back in alti mode, instead of the bari mode it sometimes managed to get into I like my Neptune much much better! ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Spmething like this? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Personal_Galleries/dragon2/Wingsuit_Weekend_Teuge_09-2005&image=DSC_2317.jpg&img=18&tt= Although there seems to be a lot of tension on the outer cell? ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. In the Netherlands???? Yeah. The combination of ingredients is not an approved medication. Any doctor here can MAKE it for you, but that would be expensive and most doctors won't, so I've been told. However I'm very very allergic to OUR over the counter stuff, so ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. All this stuff in not available here in The Netherlands, you can only get anti pharaoh ant stuff through official channels. Which means the bill for the entire appartment (16 floors....) might end up with me (I've got lizards as pets, I'm sure that's not where the ants came from though). Don't want to risk that unless I have no choice... I'm also weary of ordering any non-/semi-legal stuff over the 'net anymore, still have to pay a fine for importing Sudafed (really). Guess I'll have to fix something with boric acid in it or something..... ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. I'll take the OMG please, but only if you've RTFM too ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. I've got pharaoh ants in my appartment. They're spreading fast Anyone know any home brew stuff to get rid of them? ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. LOL very artistic I'm a floater too, and the camera makes it worse. As demonstrated by the mucho photo's from the last birdman weekend, with me looking up at a nice formation getting higher and higher and futher and ... ciel bleu, Saskia
