I gots my Bird-Man Blade! (with obligatory office pic)

What, you're gonna move it 20cm lower? ciel bleu, Saskia -
My Diablo still scares me, with its weight-sensitive openings. I'm used to jumping a same-size and one size bigger Vengeance (!) and Spectre, the Diablo gives me freaky openings every time. If anyone wants a Diablo 120 (with 100-150 jumps on it), let me know ciel bleu, Saskia

I did 2 tandems after doing my first 3 SL jumps. They were so I could do a jump-in on an island DZ for a party, so just for fun (otherwise I'd have had to land with the plane twice, no thanx). They probably helped, since I can't remember the exits from SL 1-3 and tandem 1, but after tandem 2 I got rid of the sensory overload on exit. ciel bleu, Saskia

Try 20 euros/min over here Still cheaper than skydiving (25 euros or more), but EUR 20 = USD 25. Meaning we pay DOUBLE. And meaning that a trip to the US is worthwhile with even not so much tunneltime. ciel bleu, Saskia

I jumped a 135 at about that wl last season. There's a lot of difference between canopies, some open in a turn no matter what and some open fine (mine! ). At that low a wl sometimes you get more open airlocks on one side than on the other, this leads to searching/hunting. On the whole i liked the vengeance a lot, but it wasn't made for such a low wl, it definately opened better with a lot of lead and I liked the 120 (at 1.3-1.4 w/lead) better. When packing, I don't do anything to it besides roll the tail a bit to keep packjob together. Anything else you do can lead to wild openings, slow snivels and then BAM, or just really really slow openings. ciel bleu, Saskia

Spectre 170 vs Spectre 190 vs something else ;)
dragon2 replied to Thijs's topic in Gear and Rigging
I only have one jump on a quadra, a long time ago... A spectre is one of the slowest (forward speed) canopies, so if it's too fast for you, a bigger spectre would go slower. It would be smart to demo one (in 0 wind if you can too). If you can't demo/borrow where you jump, The Parachute Case (Teuge, NL) has a spectre 190 if I'm correct, which you can rent (best if you jump it at teuge though). You could also try other canopies there in different sizes to see if you like something else better. Although a spectre is perfect if you want to do wingsuit jumps later Demoing/renting for a day works out cheaper than buying the wrong canopy (again)... BTW good on you for wanting to upsize! ciel bleu, Saskia -
It's usually not legal, but yeah, most streams can be saved with a download manager or similar. ciel bleu, Saskia

Perché is (was?) an Eastern European company that makes paragliders. I only know of one skydiving canopy they made, sort of a sabre but with a LOT of glide, a cross between a skydiving canopy and a paraglider. I can't for the life of me remember its name right now but I think we have one in one of our gear stores. Perché website (apperantly they're now the German company Independence): http://www.independence-world.com/internet/nav/123/broker ciel bleu, Saskia

Consider having an H-mod done on your Sabre. It will make your openings consistently soft with a little improvement in performance and possibly an increase in resale value of your canopy (not to mention that it looks cool

I've seen enough people totally getting flown by their suits. Usually right after exit too. If you can't get out of a barrel roll or spin, it can be dangerous. Bigger wings mean more chance of a main malfunction (if you don't close them when opening) too. Like I said, I wouldn't sell you either suit, but you may be a very good with a wingsuit or you just may have found a BMI who is lax in that area (I know one of those ). Just be careful. If everything goes well in a big suit, it's very easy to fly. Not fly WELL, that takes practice, but safe enough. If you get bumped or try acrobatics or stall the suit, things can go real fast in a real hurry. So I think the comparison with a Velo isn't that far off. Sure I can land a tiny hp canopy. But if it all goes to sh*t, maybe I can't ciel bleu, Saskia

Another Premiere Question - how to make stills
dragon2 replied to GPSJane's topic in Photography and Video
Same as with a videoclip. Clip audioportion you want to repeat then copy it to the timeline as often as needed. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Did you install the divx codec/player or the complete package? Just the codec will not let you save in divx, just view. ciel bleu, Saskia

Another Premiere Question - how to make stills
dragon2 replied to GPSJane's topic in Photography and Video
1. file > export > frame (you need to de-interlace this in photoshop or similar if you want to use it for something other than TV) 2. how I do it (there may be an easier way): split track at "pause point" (ctrl-k) copy one of both tracks you now have 3 tracks the middle one: right click > frame hold > hold on in- or outpoint (depends on which part you used) clip/lengthen track as necessary but keep that in- or out-frame ciel bleu, Saskia -
Don't know about that brand specifically, but ever since I've been using digi stills and digi video cams I've been using off-brand batteries to supplement the original the camera came with. Most work even better than the original, and all worked fine

duh...I dont know cuz maybe I am going to get one of the two and wanted some input. ps dont have that much of an opportunity to demo Neither suit is suited for someone with 200 jumps. I wouldn't sell you either. Maybe if you had tons of BASE wingsuit jumps already. Otherwise I strongly suggest you stick with a phantom or similar suit, depending on what you've flown before and on what you want to do with the suit. ciel bleu, Saskia

that's what my (subsitute) dr said too after I blew my earddrum "Are you crazy, you can get hurt you can die" Etc etc. This coming from a young guy with pics of freestyle mountain climbing on his office walls My own dr said "Try not to do that again and don't shower with a ruptured earddrum. Have fun" They're not all bad ciel bleu, Saskia

Did you make that up? I know a jumper or 2 that that happened to, so no, not made up. ciel bleu, Saskia

And while not flying camera yet, taking the time to learn to USE both on the ground first really helps a lot for when you do start flying 'em. I keep seeing pics from people who have no clue about shooting video/stills, about which setting to use when etc etc. "Saskia, help! What's this little -insert symbol here- doing on my screen on jumprun???" Now of course that never happened to me I RTFM (eventually) ciel bleu, Saskia

Why do you want to know? ciel bleu, Saskia

I blew out an eardrum on my 2nd full altitude jump. Definately not recommended ciel bleu, Saskia

We definately need a new gameplan for the camera jumpers, as they are more active during the jump and get less oxygen before exit... ciel bleu, Saskia

Well I got my pelt all ready, now where did I put my old pro-tec again.........? ciel bleu, Saskia
