Two stupid question to women experienced in wingsuit flying:)
dragon2 replied to Hagen's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I know there have been posts like that before, I think I posted some or a link before.... So a search should net you some prep dives and other prerequisites and nice-to-have-dones (personally, I don't get the tracking dives, wouldn't ask it from my students either). i'm too lazy to go search right now ciel bleu, Saskia -
I'd make one standard and one widescreen version, both as highres as you can/want, then let the pc do the resizing itself ciel bleu, Saskia

Think Wendy Smith is bad in a wingsuit? ciel bleu, Saskia -

You can demojump whole Aerodyne rigs at boogies etc if they're there. At least, on this side of the pond you can. Actually it can be kinda hard to demo a complete rig as everything has got to be the right size for you, I'm too small for most rigs ciel bleu, Saskia

My advice would be to leave that book until after student status... Listen to your instructors they will teach you what you need to know when you need to know it. Information overload is no good and conflicting info (or more advanced) may hinder you and also your instructor: 'yeah but the skydiver's handbook says...' After student status this is much less of an issue so then would be an excellent time to start reading you'll also have a basis then to understand the book way better. BTW why wait for spring? You can jump in the winter too y'know.... Find a DZ that stays open all year and go jump ciel bleu, Saskia

Any decent photography book could teach ypou the basics of f-stops, shutter speeds etc, but I find it helps if the book matches the camera, or at least is about digital SLR's. This one I know people like: http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-D80-Dbook-Interactive-Photography/dp/1933952156/ref=sr_1_5/002-9779468-4394445?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1192451394&sr=1-5 Here are some more: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_i_1/002-9779468-4394445?ie=UTF8&rs=&keywords=nikon%20d80&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Anikon%20d80%2Ci%3Astripbooks ciel bleu, Saskia

I'm sorry to say that I still haven't gotten any training in first aid etc... Aside from some stuff I learned about horse riders years ago. I've been first on the scene after a very serious low turn, had no clue what to do other than not touch him, we had a practicing physician at the airport who didn't dare touch him either so that was a good call, I suppose. Then a guy with a dislocated shoulder, not much trouble there (well not for me). A few other landing accidents where others were present too. Saturday with the broken leg, not so much action was required of me as there were 4 people at the scene of which at least one knew what she was doing or at least looked like she was.... Although I did try and help a choking bus driver that day also not hindered by much knowledge Note to self: acquire that knowledge. ciel bleu, Saskia

Well I can give you a list of planes I jumped out of... Small-to-big (sort of): Cessna 172 Cessna 182 Cessna 206 Cessna 207 Porter Cessna 208 Caravan Cessna 208 Grand Caravan Antonov (video here) LET Twin Otter Dakota (video here) Fokker F60 (video here) C130 Hercules (video here) ciel bleu, Saskia

LOL congrats on your first jump Getting linetwists is really not an incident, get used to them if you do static line chances are you'll get linetwists about every 2nd-3rd jump, for AFF the chances are less but it still can happen easily. Linetwists are only a problem if they are still there when you are at your decision altitude, but it seems you handled yours before that so good on you

Nobody I knows intentionally totally undoes his cheststrap under canopy. Loosening it up however is a way to make the canopy fly better, along with collapsing and stowing the slider behind your head. These are things you'll learn to do later on in your jumping career, as all these things take up a bit of time esp at first and most student type canopies do not allow collapsing/stowing the slider anyway. Are you sure loosening the cheststrap is not what he meant? ciel bleu, Saskia

Does she have an AAD? Lots of DZ's in Europe require one. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Rip off? Based on what, USA prices? It actually sounds like a good deal to me. ciel bleu, Saskia

Also something to think about: even though the combination 170 main (ie merit, not spectre or similar as it won't fit) or 150 main and 128 reserve is quite common for smaller/lighter jumpers, because that's what fits in an atom 00, doesn't mean it's smart. If you're used to jumping a 170, the 128 is a totally different animal and you may get the fright of your life. I suggest renting a pd126r or similar size smart reserve on main risers for you to jump as a main for a few jumps. Don't want to? Why are you jumping one as your last chance then??? Don't like it after the jumps? Now you know to get a bigger rig and bigger reserve pronto. The jumps went alright? Then you're probably ok on a 150 main too ciel bleu, Saskia

My beat-up trv25 still works but it's worth nothing to them, so that's one less camera they'll have to dump ciel bleu, Saskia

After student status and renting stuff, and not counting borrowed gear with a few jumps: spectre 150 spectre 135 safire 135 lightning 126 vengeance 135 diablo 120 sabre 120 safire 119 + lots of jumps on borrowed springo 120 vengeance 120 rigs: owns/owned: atom 00 vulcan atom 0 atom 000 borrow a lot: mirage javelin My current rig is atom 000 + safire 119, and the canopies currently in my closet are vengeance 135, sabre 120, diablo 120. ciel bleu, Saskia

My advice: I suggest you buy a rig with a 190 now, but buy a rig that will also be fine for a 170. Jump the hell out of the 190. Sell the 190 when you are ready for a 170, 190's sell fast anyway you won't lose much money on it. ciel bleu, Saskia

There has been talk about wingsuit-specific AAD's for a while now, not sure how far along the project(s) is (are?). It will take a lot to convince me to jump one in that mode as I can see a lot of potential problems with such a mode. ciel bleu, Saskia
