  1. Mounting for what? It's not jumpable. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. This was at our dropzone a few years back: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=603&string=martijn%20dam ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Only if I am 100% positive that a) I can fix it b) the t/m can't, and c) I can do so safely. I'm no AFFI ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. It's not an elliptical, it's a semi, like a sabre2 (but French ). ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Why don;t you ask your instructors about that? ' BTW landing on your backside is not recommended, a PLF will save your ass, literally Landing standing up will come in time, landing safely is way more important. Go talk to your instructors ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Why not consider a cypres1? I'd personally buy a cypres1 over a vigil for sure. Or buy an Argus. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. So when are you going to do the course and jump by yourself? ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Agreed 100%. I have done a few jumps without AAD, mostly CRW jump, but I strongly prefer to have one in my rig also for CRW. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Inside video: one of your instructors has a camera helmet on. This means no extra jump ticket but the video isn't that great esp when he's holding on to you because he's so close. Outside video: you get a real cameraman to jump with you, his/her video will show much more of the jump. examples: Outside AFF video: http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_weblinks/task,view/catid,48/id,10/ Some inside AFF video here: http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_weblinks/task,view/catid,50/id,55/ ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. A mere 100 jumps total, over 2 years, and you're considering a canopy that I just started jumping. Good luck with that. Due to instructors and jumpers like yours/you, we now have a whole set of national rules to prevent 'preventable' accidents due to a stupid canopy choice. As do various other countries here. Think these rules are there for nothing? Well since they don't apply to you anyway... Feeling lucky? ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Here, AFF is EUR 1250, outside video of 7 jumps would be 55 euro each i think, inside video for debriefing is often included these days, depending on which instructors you have, but you have to pay some to get a copy of it. A tandem is eur 199 (weekends), video 95 euro. So, EUR 1929 or EUR 1600 depending on the video would set you back about 2500 USD/2100 USD at my DZ. So, for outside video + edited dvd(s), doesn't sound too bad. Inside video, we can do it cheaper LOL Face it, Europe is plenty expensive, esp with the current EUR/USD exchange rate. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Editing it out of video on a pc isn't that hard, you just have to re-size the video until it no longer shows. Image quality will degrade obviously and it'll take some time rendering but I do it from time to time when I get footage like that for an end-of-day video etc. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Also for skydiving, turn off image stabilisor if you have it on. IS also causes vignetting on some cameras. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. No Otters here in The Netherlands. Here, the Caravan is now more or less the standard airplane, on the bigger DZs. We have models taking from 16 to 20 jumpers, ours takes 16-18 depending on fuel. ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. I didn't like my Suunto alti, sold it quickly again. The numbers were too small, lots of glare so hard to read while wingsuiting, too easy to press the button so you're looking at the air pressure in freefall Bought a Neptune instead, never looked back. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Yay someone who uses the search function What info are you looking for exactly? Most if not all of what you need should be covered in this forum already. For general info/reviews check this site: http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/index.htm (yeah yeah I know, don't start about Ken ) ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. The quickest opening canopies I've jumped are crw-type canopies, which are all 7cells. Accuracy chutes also inflate quickly. Also almost all reserves are 7cells and open quick... Same for BASE chutes. Now most of these canopies are older designs so them opening quick may have something to do with that. Sorry no Poynter's ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Wrong. Please go read the camera faq in the camera forum. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Parachutist is the only mag I know of that does that. Over here, if you have a nice pic it may be published in various countries' magazines, and why not. Usually the photographers do not get paid anything anyway. I did have a problem with someone once because they tried to "claim" pics for Parachutist when they were supposed to be used on a website which was what the photographers had give me the pics for. I told him to ask the photographers for pics not me, and that I WOULD publish the pics on the website like I was supposed to. Tough luck for Parachutist if they then do not want the pics anymore.... Luckily over here we're not like that
  20. I have sort of the same workflow as DSE, minus the extra videos and menu. I just let premiere do an instant-playing dvd. I have some templates ready, capturing and burning take the most time, editing is a snap now that I've got my workflow going (haven't done too many tandemvids yet but have years of experience doing competition vids and daily videos). While I'm capturing I dump the stills to my laptop then burn them. The video is about 7 minutes, it's our DZ logo, talk to student, walk to plane, take-off, in-air shot, gear up, [change song] entire jump up to opening, than the jump again but with some bits at 30%: exit, face shot, opening [change song] some shots of me flying, tandem landing, talk to passenger, bye bye, fade out. I edit on a dual core laptop, 2gb ram, premiere pro cs2, nero for the stills. Since I'm a fill-in tandem video only, I usually have more time between jumps anyway plus they have other videos to watch in between so 'my' passengers rarely have to wait any longer than they would've had to with one of the regular camera guys. I'm not as quick as the other guys but I'm getting there Capturing and burning take up most of the time, plus all the tandem passenger family friends etc looking over my shoulder and asking questions and stuff, because I have to edit in the bar, sort of solved that by putting on big headphones and pretending I don't hear ' em ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. If you want to do wingsuit jumps later on, don't switch to a bungee pilotchute. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Best is to get a javelin set, these do not have to be new however. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. I agree. We see this type of stuff more and more, chops due to spinning canopies/linetwists, esp with low jump numbers and a hp/smallish canopy. Of course you should whip out your reserve if the canopy isn't going to land you ok, but maybe you shouldn't be jumping a canopy like that in the first place if a simple brake fire leads to a chop. A brake fire on a hp canopy is a different deal than on say a nice biggish spectre, you need to be able to deal with stuff like that BEFORE jumping a hp canopy and BEFORE jumping at that wingloading. My opinion, anyway. ciel bleu, Saskia
