Is it a 3.5 lens you're using? Check to see if you have "exposure lock" on. I used exposure lock on the ground when I got my D80, the first day of jumping it drove me nuts trying to figure out why the lens got stuck on 2.8 for entire jumps. The remote acts as a half-shutter press, so it locked the exposure after I took a pic inside the plane. Whoops ciel bleu, Saskia

Nope. You really need to use a PCI Firewire card. Which shouldn't mess up anything, usually they're real easy to install. ciel bleu, Saskia

I alway use paypal for international deals, if possible (some people cannot set it ip, might depend on the people or the country, haven't decided yet LOL). Paypal is great for stuff like this, although sometimes you have to pay fees, this also seems to depend on the country and if it's a person or a business you're dealing with and if said person paid by creditcard funds. ciel bleu, Saskia

Sorry I have absolutely no clue about UK regulations, you'd best ask your DZO about what's possible/feasible and what is not. ciel bleu, Saskia

AFAIK: Voss: organiser problems. Empuria: sponsor problems. Leipzig: no idea. None of these were cancelled "last minute" though. ciel bleu, Saskia

No. As far as I know, both the tandem instructor and passenger has to be licensed skydivers for a field demo. Sorry, but unless a regular tandem has a really really bad spot off the drop zone, tandem demos are a rarity. What's up with that? Quite a few of our demos have tandems, a nice way of letting the mayor/boss/sponsor/... participate. They require a bigger landing field but they're done regularly here. Then again, we don't argue much about the age of tandem passengers here either, nor about night-tandems ciel bleu, Saskia

If you have sufficient jumps, yes I agree there are situations where 2 alti's may work. But for beginners? Because they don't trust one of them? I still say: no way. Luckily i'm not those guy's instructor ciel bleu, Saskia

Whoops I think I might've gotten the credits wrong for World Team 2004 ciel bleu, Saskia

You already HAVE a backup for your alti. It's called "your eyes". Seriously, jumping with 2 alti's is generally both foolish and slightly hazardous - you're gonna look at both alti's? What if they show different altitudes? Now you have to decide which one is right. LOOK AT THE $%^& GROUND. I strongly recommend using an analog alti if you don't trust your eyes yet. Work on relying on your eyes! ciel bleu, Saskia

In swoop mode the Argus turns itself off after it detects an open main. To prevent Adrian-like accidents. However this means that you're on your own should you cutaway. Swoop mode is only meant for the top swoopers worldwide anyway. ciel bleu, Saskia

You could try asking Henny (Parashoot), he just prevented probably the same problem when he came across the flatcable being halfway loose while removing the handstrap on a good-as-new pc106. ciel bleu, Saskia

You don't fly wings to hang in, at least not usually (well maybe with a very lightweight tandem passenger). The wings are there if you need them for safety reasons. You can get much closer to the team, on the edge of the burble, and stay there with wings. If/when you fall in, THEN you really need them. I really don't like seeing people film without wings, I've seen too many close calls on exit, right after exit and burble troubles even from experienced fliers. Also some plain bad video from not daring/being able to get any closer. I don't think it is really discouraged at our DZ and it may also not have everything to do with the lack of wings, but like I said, I don't like it at all. ciel bleu, Saskia

Huh. We get taught: first throw the pilotchute if not already out (as a lot of horseshoes are out-of-sequence openings). Try twice max to clear entanglement then do full EP's. ciel bleu, Saskia

May 1st is not up-to-date enough? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2787992;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ciel bleu, Saskia

I hope that wasn't on a skydiving rig. Putting on snaps requires punching holes in the webbing. Mark We have a few rigs like that at our DZ. I liked it, had my rigger do the same on my previous rig when it started slipping. It just made reselling it a bit harder, although in this particular case the legstraps had been cut off for some reason (by previous owner) so they were pretty short already ciel bleu, Saskia

No. Did you try a search in this forum..? ciel bleu, Saskia

The 180's is for learning how to track and for learning how to do delta too. It prevents newbies from tracking themselves to the next city. It's not meant for "tracking jumps". ciel bleu, Saskia

AFAIK the only logos that stay put are the ones put on when manufacturing the canopy. Haven't heard of any done later on? Except for small printed ones that came off real quick. ciel bleu, Saskia

I have no clue, which is why I just quoted the manual. Don't you riggers know stuff like that? ciel bleu, Saskia
