  1. Not sure if this is the correct forum for this...soo many choices...I don't like choices...I'm a consumer..I don't choose.. Anyways, This sunday I went to the DZ. Left home about 7:30 AM, got there at about 9 o'clock The weather sucked, but I figured I could learn a bit for the written exam. At around 11 I decidec I would give it a shot, and gues what..I PASSED!! I GOT MY A!! After a small celebration, the weather had turned better and we took the plane outside. I was used to jumping with a ripcord, but since I have my own rig (!!!!), I got briefed on BOC release. I was used to jumping with the big student canopies (Drakkar) and MAN does this make a difference. Landed in the peas, and on my feet :) It's so cool to finaly have my own stuff and my A licence..! I hope everyone had a great weekend like I did..:) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. I understand german (speaking and writing it myself works to some extent, but usualy turns pretty ugly:) I speak and write english en Suid Afrikaans (because it's almost 99% like dutch, pretty easy) En my own language, Dutch And verry, verry limited french (I can order a croissant or big mac and ask for directions..but that's about it) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. guy #1 "So I just went like this and dove right in" guy#2 "DUDE!!" "Back in jail, They'd make me put on arm on the table and bend over like this..." "She was so fat, when I was humping her, I had to reach this far to be able to touch her nipple" "Clay puts peanutbutter on his dingdong, stands in his herd of sheep, and then undresses and takes a pose like this one" "seriously, I practice every day after shopping, except monday when I go to the bridge-club with the girls, and on frydays, when I go to bingo" JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Get together something that looks like a rig, throw on an old jumpsuit, and drag an old round shute behind you (or bedsheets), like the paratrooper (wasn't that George Clooney btw?) from Return of the Killer Tomatoes..guaranteed succes JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Just like tripleX, another brainless action movie which takes the life of a skydiver in a 'stunt' jump for the film. It's almost starting to look like a trend, one I hope that doesn't set through. My condoleances to his friends and family. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. 3 chicks basejumped from a moving truck (while driving it of a dam), after which they started tracking towards a helicopter simultaniously dropped from the truck, and tried to grab ahold of it..and it's on video!!! http://www.movie-list.net/mlst2k2/angels.mpg 19 MB p.s. It's not real ofcource, it's the new trailer from Charlies Angels: Full Throtle JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. In Holland you are not allowed to wear anything BUT a jumpsuit (or other 1 piece clothing) untill you have your B licence. This is largely to prevent sweaters/sleeves flapping over your handles... Most people at my DZ (including me) start with an old garden/work(jump)suit and buy a decent RW/Freefly/whatever-suit lateron when they have an idea on what they want... 8. It's fun to watch...definetely worth the few bucks it costs... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Now that wouldn't be for some illegaly downloaded or copied film would it!?? But if it's for a safety backup..I'll try and find one for you.. I also found this cover, seems they have multiple versions...collect them all..:) The european DVD I have has yet another cover (some trashy photoshop composition of several stills from the film) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. DUDE...obviously you've never seen my neighbour up close...unless skinny, ugly women with hair on their upper-lip are your thing ofcource...then I stand corrected
  11. Bought a new helmet and goggles last week, just had to try 'em on... Two days later I finaly got a call from my rigger that my first rig was ready for me to be picked up... So I did just that and walked around the house like an idiot the whole evening, packing and unpacking my chute for about a dozen times.... You should have seen the look on my neighbours face as she walked past my window and glanced into the kitchen where I was making some thea (with my jumpsuit, altimeter, rig, helmet and goggles on:) http://www.3dluvr.com/mccordia/fridge/pictures/skydive/mccordia_rig_01.jpg JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. I have three DZ's that are actualy closer by (resp. a 10 minute, 40 minutes and 1 hour drive) but I should drive 1,5 hours to get to my home DZ (I usualy do it in 1 hour though..don't tell the cops:) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Just bought the DVD from the animated film ICE AGE. Great fun, but on the DVD there is an extra animated short about the funny squarell/eekhoorn (how do I write that?) It's a funny short, and right in the middle there is an incredible skydiving scene. It's one of the funiest things I've ever seen. I actualy almost pissed my pants while watching it. YOU GOTTA SEE THIS!! It has something to do with formation skydiving with nuts...just watch...now!! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Sounds like great fun untill you grab ahold of the plane during exit, and your hands freeze onto the metal and you rip half your skin off JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. I've jumped during 2 winters so far and here's a few tips I got from fellow jumpers.. One thing that helps is to take a pair of those plastic gloves you can get for free from most gas-stations, and wear those underneath your normal gloves. Your hands will be real sweaty, but will also stay way warmer then when wearing a single pair of gloves. Do make sure that wearing something extra inside you gloves doesn't make you lose your grip... The trick is (just like clothing) to wear layers.. Serveral thin long-sleeve shirts on top of each other underneath your jump/birdman-suit will keep you warmer then a big sweater (and probably fit better underneath everything then a thick woolen sweater will) I see quite a few people put some vaseline on their nose and cheeks...never tried that before though..I hate putting stuff on my face...kinda like putting on make-up...sounds gay JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Why is there no JarJar in here....everybody loves JarJar...! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Forums: Search Results Your search for clay, freeflir29, freeflir, sheepboy, sheep returned 13798 results Damn....!?! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  19. Choice in beer? It's either Heineken or nothing.....paraclub Flevo (Holland:) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. 'Poser' is a nice piece of software you might want to look into. It's pretty easy to learn and comes with a multitude of 3D figures...> http://www.curiouslabs.com/ there's also a ton of other 3D software, but most programs take more then a few hours to master (months/years) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Although the whole things sounds scary as hell, at the moment it happened it was only wierd. I was climbing out, got tossed up in the air, bumped something, then righted myself and (the wierdest thing) only then I started falling...I saw the other jumpers exit the plane before/below me...I got tossed up quite a bit (kinda like a zero-g exit I gues)...it wasn't untill after I landed that I got this wierd trembling in my hands and realized what could have happened....but that didn't change a thing about my wanting to jump...but it did took a month and a half to finaly get back up.... Sorry to sound stupid, but what is a NA - number? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. I tell just most things to my (now ex)GF and parents. But there are quite a few things I never talk about, because it only scares them. Stuff like (seeing ) cutaways and small incidents are things I usualy don't tell, unless it's in the news, then I try to explain what went wrong and why to the best of my knowledge. Half a year ago, the plane stalled (C206 Turbine)while I was in the door, and the pilot made a dive to recover. This knocked me off the plane (upward) and threw me over he fuselage, missing the tail with my head by only a few inches, after which I impacted on the rear stabilo, and cleared the plane.. The other jumpers exited in orderly fashion, and the pilot made a safe emergency landing, but on inspection the right stabilo had almost come off (a lot of rivots where just gone, and everything was bent). Everyone came out okay, but it could have been ended way different... I choose not to tell this whole story at home, because (while they would not be able to make me stop, although they still think they can) it would probably have made my life a living hell whenever I would mention or try to go jumping... Telling them bad news is okay, but keeping them in a positive mindset towards skydiving is even more important I think... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. before my GF left me the relationship skydivingfriends/non-skydiving friends would be 1%/99%....which sucked.. But when she left me, that gave me the chance to dump half (if not more) of the friends I knew through her... Typical phonecalls I get now and then: "heyy...yeaa..sorry, I haven't called you for so long...what...If I want to come to a movie with all of you....ooouhh....no...I'm bussy tomorrow.....eehm...yea next week I'm bussy too.....*flipping through my agenda*...noop..the whole year is full already...I'll call you january okay..byeeee" All I'm left with at the moment is a few cool friends, and no more lamers....which rules.. Next to that, due to hanging out more at the DZ, the percentage skydiving friends/non skydiving friends is climbing towards 50/50 :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. 100% real picture..no doubt about it... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. "Honey...why are you taking your rig along to get smokes?" "Ooh, just in case I get into a long line, so I can pack my chute to kill time...ehm..yea..." *honest look on face* On a serious note, it sounds cool, but doing it that way sounds real selfisch to me. You wanna base..cool, but at least have the balls to let a person you (sorta) love(d?) know where you are (even if you might not want to tell what you're going to do) When someone says he goes away for 5 minutes and doesn't come back for several hours it's a small personal hell you go through (no matter how much you hate someone)...let alone if someone goes missing for 3 days...not cool in my book..
