I started jumping with a camera when I had...
mccordia replied to Chivo's topic in Photography and Video
I also think jump numbers aren't always an issue, but (as bummed as I am for the rule) the 200RW jumps and C licence you need in Holland do help a bit in weeding out people that realy don't have the skills to do what they are doing.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

Yep....I envy you...:) But then again...I gues it's also a good thing for some people (not you...don't know you 'live'...yet:) who should focus on learing to skydive competent and safety aware, instead of focussing on 'getting that shot'. There's some dangerous folks out there... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
[reply}I don't think it's his brains he's concerned about. Don't know for sure, but doesn't the bodypart that makes 90% of his dicisions qualify as 'the brain'

Don't worry, you already post on this forum....there's no microwave that could do more brain-damage :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think thrillseeking and criminals can make a great movie....it's just that every time someone makes a movie likes this, it's always B movie directors that get the chance, with sucky actors and a script that was written over a couple of beers... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Uploaded the trailer from a new dutch movie (aimed at an international release) called Adrenaline. Filmed in South Africa, inernational cast. From the looks of the trailer another film with a crappy story that is only a lame excuse to do as many stunts as possible.....but who cares...I'm gonna see it when it comes out... it's in the ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/UPLOADS/ folder JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

that F or C?????? cuz if it was C then that's nothing Celcius...we're in holland here...:) It is nothing...it was about minus 15 at exit point (6000 ft), and I've had worst (-25 is the coldest so far), but I just spoke to some guy from croatie who jumped last week at -37 degrees celcius at 12.000 ft...now that's cold...! Can't wait for Ampuria (two more weeks....hmmm)...slighly warmer weather and lotsa jumping... Thanx for all the congrats :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

What was your favorite movie growing up as a kid?
mccordia replied to Rookeskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
E.T. was always huge for me..it still realy brings back the feeling I had when I was about 12 years old watching it....that movie is pure magic.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Skymama wrote: You are...:) What's the fun if there's nobody who warms your nose (because it's turning blue) after a jump :) There's nothing that gives a more 'connected' feeling that a bunch of folks standing around a single working heater, trying to get the feeling back in their hand while looking at each other with a puzzled, smiling "Can anybody tell me why we're doing this" look on thier face :) Great fun...(but DAMN cold!) BPO wrote: Thanx...and the upper winds....MAN! On my first jump (my 100th) yesterday it was okay. I landed on the DZ. But the next jump was a mega experienced load (5 guys, all 1000 to 5000 jumps) and they where giving me the "You've got 100 jumps now...you do the spotting, and tell us where to get out...get it wrong and your screwed" routine..:) I screwed up, steered the plane a bit in the wrong direction. But due to the high winds this 'bit' made it rather hard for all the guys with tiny hankerchief chutes to make it back (they all did though) But since the last load the winds had picked up so much I was blown backwards harder then I normaly fly forward :) I pulled at 3500, and by 3000 ft I was already blown past the DZ about 1 km :) Seeing I'd never make it back, I just turned around and started flying towards the airport. I landed about 3 km's out (only 1 km from the hangar:) alongside a road. A car stopped next to me, and an old couple stuck their heads out of the window asking "Did you just come from the skies?" So I just grinned and sayd "yea...could you give me a lift to the airport" A few minutes after me the rest of the load arived, and basicly gave me hell (In a fun way...at least..funny to everyone but me:) Normaly people get thrown into a small creek for a 100th jump, but nobody had an axe to cut a hole in the ice :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

High winds today, but I still dragged my stuborn ass to the DZ, hoping to make the jump. Clouds, high winds..playing games (Kolonists of Katan, anyone know this board game) Around 2:30 the winds kinda mellowed down to acceptable and the sky turned 100% clear blue... Malte, a cool freeflying video dude, wanted to go up with me to film, and we planned a small horny gorilla (from 6000 ft), my first one :) MAN! (or WOMAN!!..) that was cool! I haven't had this much fun since....never I gues...the last month or so every jump I make seems to top the last 'best one' :) Past 1,5 months> Got my A, Got my own rig/dytter and helmet, Learnt to sit-fly, my 100th jump, and landed 3 km's out on my 101st jump today :) I also jumped my new suit for the first time today (on my 100th jump) My mom is a wizard when it comes to clothing. She made me an incredible RW suit a few months ago. And just 2 days ago I told my mom I sorta needed a freefly suit, so I made a silly design, and she made it for me, in 1 single day! It's realy cool, realy warm, and it only cost me 15 bucks in fabric :) The colors match my helmet (which cost me 30 bucks:)...MAN I'm happy... You can see my cool suit (and ofcource 100st jump) in the clip I just uploaded to the ftp.skydivingmovies.com/uploads/ folder, it's called mccordia_100th.mpg (6,71 MB) What do you think :) The suit looks a bit wierd because of the 2 sweaters, longsleeve shirt and coat I'm wearing underneath ...it was minus 5 degrees at ground level today....cccccccccold..but FUN!! In Holland you need a C licence and at least 200 RW jumps before you can jump camera. But even the you still need a special permit to jump camera, and they are only issue'd Januari every year....:( No camera jumping for me....although I would love to.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

Thank you all for the kind responses. I think I'm going to try to do some turns with my feet next time. I'm going to Ampuria in two weeks, and hopefully get 10 to 20 jumps in to practice :) And don't envy me, you guys can probably fly circles around me, I'm the one who should have envy :) I just bought a dytter 2 weeks ago because I wanted to start doing a bit ofsitflying. I went to Skydive Rotterdam (Holland) and I was gonna do just one jump to try and sit, and also 'test' my dytter. I got to sit only a few times, but kept falling over sideways after just a few seconds. I couldn't keep my feet down without tipping over. Although sitting wasn't to big a succes, I was overly enthousiastic about the jump (first time not falling on my belly). A couple of friendly freeflyers gave me a few pointers as to my posture, and I discovered I had my legs almost together, and I was also looking down between my legs (causing me to bend real far at the waist). So I went up again, and tried a second time. I also got the tip to pull my overall up to my knees, so my legs would have less drag. I went out, and spent a couple of thousand feet sorta fighting to stay in a sit. Then I relaxed a little, remembered to make ever angle 90 degrees and all of a sudden I was sitting. I couldn't stop smiling. I sat from about 9000 ft to 5000 ft. I was so happy after I landed, that I definately wanted to go again. So I manifested again. I got some tips/pointers on how to stand up, and turn (just look at where you want to go) and tried again. When I went out of the plane, it sorta 'clicked' I went into a sit and it sorta 'felt right' :) I tried 2 turns, and also stood for a second or 5. It was great. I usualy jump somewhere else (150 km further), but this DZ is close to my home, and I can't describe the feeling of sitting at 12000 ft, the sun in your neck, and looking at the sea in the distance, and my own home only a few miles in front of me (which was my reference point for holding the same heading) Sitflying is so cool. Untill a few jumps ago all I wanted to do is RW, but there's not always someone around to jump with, so I went to the dark side :) Practicing sitting on solo jumps is great fun, I love it...! Sorry for the whole essay....just mega enthousiastic...wanted to tell someone..my moms reply was 'you can also sit on a couch...much safer and cheeper' :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I've only recently started practicing sitflying (3 jumps so far:) and I can sit , and stand up and move forwasd/back. But I have a small question on doing turns. The turns (360s) I've done so far where sorta instinctive..I twisted my upperbody a bit into the direction I wanted to turn and I turned. But is this the method to use? Do you twist your upper body, or do you steer/turn more with your legs, or a combination of those two, or something completely different..? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I wanted to make animated movies as soon as I uderstood who made them and how they where made. Next to that I've been wanting to skydive since I was 8 years old. My uncle jumped a lot back then and my dad was going to start jumping, but then my uncle broke his back and skydiving was a definate no-no within 'the family'. My dad however always went to demo's with me, and I was fascinated with those people who came out of the sky...:) So I'm a (3D) animator, and I jump...I've pretty much realized my dreams...stil not completely there (I want to work at Pixar in the USA, the guys that made Toy Story/Monsters Inc and other great animated films) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

My gues would be something that stalls all trains. because most IKEA building are next to big roads traffic chaos is already happening because everyone tries to travel via small secondairy roads, result everyone stuck. If somehow the trains where to stop, the whole country would be on it's ass :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The Dutch Oil Company NAM (Nederlanse Aardolie Maatschappij) just received a bom threath....they're evacuating personel...what's next? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The Ikea thing might be some mad man, but the two bombs they found in the Dutch news agency ANP sound a lot more serious (they are heavy ones) Kinda funny, the Dutch media is scared to even mention the word moslim or terrorism. There have been threats made last week by some wierd ass leader that this (bombing) would happen if Holland didn't release a few moslims from jail...curious to know weather this is related or not... Small update (in case anyone cares:) They just found two heavy explosives in the Dutch news agency. More bomb-calls are coming in....it's a freakin mess here! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
Bomb calls are quite normal, but they've already found 2 bombs, and one already went off, which is what makes it a bit scary. These aint kids placing prank-calls, but people who are realy out to hurt someone. Why they'd take on IKEA...no idea...could be some idiot. But the fact that they've placed a bomb in the Dutch News Agency AND the fact that there are several bombs throughout the country shows that it's not a single idiot, but something bigger... And unless it's a 20 megaton bomb we'll be pretty safe here, but we can probably hear the bang if the damn thing blows... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Holland is a mess at the moment. Since yesterday-evening there have been numerous bombthreats, a lot of IKEA stores had bomb-calls. A policestation had a bomb go off (not a heavy one luckely) and the dutch press-agency is closed at the moment due to a bomb (and gues who works only a short distance away from there...:( WTF is going on here? I was expecting all kinds of "NO WAY YOU CAN SIT IN THAT TUNNEL" replies...:) The (sad:) truth is, it was pretty hard to just be able to fly on your belly in this tunnel and get more then 30cm's above the floor. It was great fun, but it sorta feels like you've been in a boxing match after your done...bruised and all..:) The picture was taken when the prop was turned off, and I just jumped up and the picture was snapped (got lucky on the timing:) I only have 3 sitfly jumps in 'real life'..so no way in hell I'd be able to do what the picture implies...But great fun anyways.. Anyone coming to the Xmas boogie at Texel (holland) from 26 to 31 December btw? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
