  1. We updated the movie page on our website again with 2 new videos. Balloonjumps in Joure (2 wingsuit jumps from, you've guessed it, a balloon) and Rotterdam Roughcuts (posted earlyer in another thread) And (yayay!) AN72 video if FINALY nearing completion (after the scary HD crash) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Though cheaper not to use one when you're putting your setup together. It wil definately be more expensive in the long run. Cameralife when mounted unprotected from wind, moisture and small bumps etc is a lot shorter then when you mount it properly inside a Dbox. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. I think freefall avg. of around 35 mph or so are doable for quite a few people now. Im talking avg over a whole jump, not peak readings after breakoff etc, those are just like swooping/flaring a canopy, not real indicator of the actual glide or freefall time possible from full altitude. Im getting speeds of around 20 mph at breakoff, while still flying forward fast, but that speed slowly bleeds off again after 30 seconds or so, and starts to settle again at an avg fallrate of around 37/38 mph or so. Which I think is rougly what a lot of people I know are flying when they're doing max flight in 'big suits' But a lot of people take their killer breakoff performance, and claim that as their full jump avg. Just taking a look at the best speeds flown at the contests such as those in Marl (I think) is quite a good indicator. Dont take what people say they can do as reference for your own performance, as thats quite often a whole lot different from the speeds and distances they are actually flying when you jump with them, both in flocking and max flight And (when talking fallrates) skinny bastards do have the edge on slighly more 'gifted' people ofrcourse JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. And when your backupdrive crashes 2 days after the main drive crashed...MAN you start sweating! But luckely managed to copy/save 90% of the data (copied the most important stuf first) onto another drive before it finaly froze up forever. The backup drive was brand new, and only had about 20 hours of operation on it. The other drive was 1.5 years old, and used quite a bit. But not insanely much. Both where 'Lacie' drives...(switched to Western Digital now, no longer trust lacie, also after hearing more horror stories) My 2 new (external) WD backup drives spinning happily, and looking for a Raid5 replacement in 2 months. 5. Its also up here now.. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6093 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. I made a quick edit from the footage from the jumps we did (since they'll probably only use about 20 seconds of all the footage for the actual item and cut away the nice bits, as always) Anyways..we got to make 2 jumps. One with some docks and few linked rolls (alex and I, costyn on outside camera). And another one with some barrelrolls over eachother and synchronised ones, flying next to eachother (costyn and alex, me on outside camera) 4 failed attempts at linked rolls (aka the double whammy) during the first jump where left on the floor of the edit room, but we're slowly getting better at it, and finaly got a shakey succesfull version caught on tape.. Making the rolls cleaner, and on axis wil help in making the move smoother, and easyer to stop correctly on heading. More creative flying coming soon.. The video can be downloaded from our website (Costyn wil probably ad it to the online movie gallery sometime this weekend) video: rotterdam roughcuts - 18 mb JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

    Finally!

Bob, if you (and anyone that has some good video) could upload that or mail it to me (yoursendit.com or something like that) and maybe PM me what you think could be sayd about the right and wrong about whats shown. Then I can turn that into a big FLB flight manual on flatspins. I would really like these videos to turn into something more then just our personal tips and suggestions. Having the whole community think and film along would be even better.. Flatspins seems like a nice topic. Openings is also one I have planned. Any good shots you may have on ANY subject. PM me, and if possible, upload/send the files somewhere at DV resolution (uncompressed). If needed I can make an FTP folder and mail you a password. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. flapping (mostly talking older suits) quite often is a matter of people flying a wingsuit with bad arm or leg positions. Causing weird folds in the wing, and/or blocking the air-intake vent, causing bad presurisation.. There's people that manage to get every suit flapping...and there's people who fly every suit fully pressurised all the time.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

    Finally!

Flatspins are just a matter of initiating the right spin/turb, while being on your back...practice hard and you'll get it someday Any requests for a FLB flight manual on getting into flatspins? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. We're getting payd in frenchfries and McFlurries.. But no worries there.. The item wil be playing in all (Dutch and some Belgian) McDonalds, as wel as in the Amsterdam subways and a lot of stores. We shot a lot of ground stuff and jumps (payd, and part of bigger project we're working on) as a promotional item for a demo we're doing next month over Amsterdam. See www.urbanaction.com for details on that. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. I just uploaded some nice pictures costyn took of Alexandro and me playing in the skies over Rotterdam. We had a special videoshoot for McDonalds (for those TV screens in the restaurants) and did some fun jumps, and also had to show some dirtdiving, gearing up etc. to a small crew following us. We should get a copy of the final item to put online next month or so Anyways...check out the pics (LibriumTV Rdam) http://www.flylikebrick.com/minishowcase/ ps. Also one of the first flights of Alexandros new suit! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Also trying to make it to this event again..but may have to skip it due to financial recovery from the busy past months... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Welcome to the flock D-man If you ever find yourself on the wrong side of the ocean by accident, it would definately be cool to fly with the eagle! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Its close to finished...some people have already seen a big preview.. Although this almost changed things last night.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Having just suffered one of those 'they wont happen to me' hard disc failures (lacie, removeable HD 250 gig) I cant stress enough how important backups are. Aside from a few small things (which I luckely managed to recover), I had everything backup on a huge 400 GB ethernet disc (one of those cheep portable ones) So in the end, all it cost me was one evening of stress, and I still have all my data. Had the backup not been there, youd now here me cry and rant about about a dozen work in progres edits/projects lost forever (a big DVD project for Tim Porter, A big wingsuit video/DVD for the An72 boogie etc etc) The money you spend on one single day of serious jumping, is more then the cost of a simple backup drive. If you done have one..do yourself a favour and get one...because it will bite you one day.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. For a big 'extreme sports' festival in holland, 8/9 september. Well be part of the opening act with TopGun. Wingsuits, smoke..looking cool.. The company organising the event had this promo made, which wil air on TV etc. It has some nice shots in there by Mark. And ofcourse, a lot of other cool extreme sports such as eehm...golf.....? 17. EZ-Rollers and Groove Armada and wow...you really dug this thread back up from the gutters ey November, Zell Am See is happening again...pink skyvan..mountains...who's going? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. jeopardize tandemjumping....see how much it will help our beautifull dicipline.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. And with tandempassenger already unable to tell the difference between a 10 second and a 60 second freefall...whats the use? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. I know the relative workshop has forbidden any 'outside specs' skydiving with their rigs/ratings for years. Specificly naming wingsuits even.. Again...I think its cool as a stunt with experienced skydivers..but seeing how little most passengers already 'get' from their normal tandem, they really wont notice the difference, and its only a useless added danger... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Rigor Mortis sounded nice...but thats taken already I believe JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Stage three is the relative workshop which (already years back) has forbidden any wingsuit related jumps with their gear/rating? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Dont forget build... If you're 1,60 meter, 150 kg of nylon-lovin' man, slower downward speeds might come a little harder then when you're 60 kilo's and 2 meters in length JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Try to work on not pushing down on the wings, cupping air. But try to work on becoming as big as you can. In terms of surface. And getting a slight headlow body position. A slight de-arch in the hips helps if time up in the air is what you are going for, but dont overdo it or you'll be stalling the suit, and actually falling faster and moving forward less.. For me, freefall times didnt go up, even though I asked every tip I could get (search for some of earlyer posts in this forum, as most people here asked for the same thing) But that all didnt help..it was just time...experience..and trying to focus on flying forward faster that started bringing the downward speeds down as well..as a side effect... Just fly...chase planes...flock...it'll come by itself.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Then only way I see this working, is by making a pair of wings so little, they only give the passenger the feeling he or she is flying forward.. The tandems Ive seen done done with a wingsuit on passenger and/or tandemmaster added A LOT of complexities to the jump. And those al went well. When things go wrong it can turn into something scary as hell.. well as tremendous increase in flatspin/instability potential with passengers. And adding a drogue to that...sure sounds fun.. Even if its just a tiny wingsuit for the TM. The muscle strain, plus all the handles which are now to be operated by arms with a lot of wing covering it...not something Id send any friend of mine up with.. Aside from the occasional 'stunt' tandemwingsuit jump done with experienced skydivers...Id call it useless and dangerous.. And me calling something dangerous is a big thing But Im gladly proven wrong, and eagerly await pictures and or video cuz a website with just text anouncements sux.. And eagerly awaiting the next step....putting people in a wingsuit fresh of AFF...its all safe... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
