Neeeeh....talking hapens in person...seeing someone face to face....just writing about it is way more fun... For all we know Yuri doesnt even jump and is a 180 kg fat bastard who lives in his mothers basement and has never seen a women up close But he rocks at his math though! Bet he could outfly you by at least twice the distance if it came down to a writing contest! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Same problem here...that FlyLikeBrick site you posted looks awesome though JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Nooicce! Is that BASE footage of the Stealth with the backward-facing camera? Mighty sweet seeing Loic flip onto his back without any altitude loss.. And it REALLY shows everyone has been getting better and better all around the world when you look at all the formations at boogies everywhere! Any chance at a 'heavy' downloadable version for my wingsuit porn collection on my laptop? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

No..those suits have other names.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Experience aside, there's a lot of 'old' 2nd hand suits (Classics) around that can be picked up for around 200 euros or less, and sold lateron with pretty much the same re-sale vallue.. Better off flying something cheep that can withstand some buttlandings and doesnt make you cry when it gets grassstaines (as those usualy are acosiated with low experience) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Watching two people of the same build in the same suit can already be a massivly different experience in terms of what they can do with it. Comparing suits and getting a non biased, clear result is difficult.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Taking it down to SD resolution will give even higher framespeeds (and still useable video).. AWESOME toy! Now where did I leave that winning lotery ticket.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Your spelling is 'fulish' But forgiven since you're German..and Germans rock the house in their lederhosen! The footage we've seen so far, visualising the airflow over the wing suggests the airflow seperates before even hitting further then 1/3d up the wing. There's also some single-layer wingsuits out there get more then decent glideratios and flight times.. As 'filled with poopoo' you may find that statement..just looking at the videolink he posted along with it should at least be some food for thought.. It may be laughable to you, but English speech with a German accent is waaayy funnier... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Hey...Im allowed to have my 4 AM fuckups too JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Wouldnt this also be counter-productive? Unless you mean it the other way around. What you are saying here would decrease the lift..not increase... You need air passing slower over the top of the wing then it does underneath, creating a low pressure 'sucking' the wing up. Increasing drag on the bottom and having a smoother surface on top to speed the air up seems to do the excact opposite... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

If you can find em, the single element (clamp-on) lenses from Raynox are pretty cheep. Easy to modify if you just glue a conversion ring in there at your cameras thread size. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

What do you think of the Phoenix Fly Stealth WS?
mccordia replied to newone's topic in Wing Suit Flying
That mostly depends on what the fabric is doing...if its a big wing surface producing lift, or a just a big surface producing a lot of drag No related to the Stealth btw. Would seriously be concidering it atm. if I could spare the cash, as it looks like an awesome suit to throw around the sky on belly, side and back! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
There's already quite a bit of thinking and tinkering happening in that direction..namely by a few people 'outside the commercial market' Who knows what 2008 is going to bring JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Isnt the comparisson you make already a good one? If you compare a V2 and SM1 there is quite big difference in wingsize (Id guess about 1/3?) yet (fallrate aside) there is no real difference in glide performance. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Ive printed this comment and stuck it to my office wall.. Never would have imagined these words coming from you... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think thats only partialy true, some of the bigger suits get lesser glide ratios then slighly smaller ones. Increased size also means increased drag. I think we've reached the point where suits can not be made much bigger (though probably will) and smart aerofoil design and some new idea's brewing in the closet will be whats needed to continue further on the path of increased flight performance... To me, the answer to that one is, the more we fly, the happier I am. Im definitely wanting to push the control side of things (formation flying/aerobatics) but really hope both of those develop alongside with the distances flown and time we fly. Distance/Glide would be my focus, and getting most freefall time out of that optimal glide-slope/angle the 2nd one. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I always prefer putting the Base out last. Having everyone fly 'up' to the base ensures people are coming into their slot in the correct order, without people crossing eachother in opposing directions. The people who exit first will have some catching up to do, but if the rest of the flyers do their work, they'll have built a complete formation to just easy into by that time. We like a competition where people have to prove their flying skills.. Instead of writing about how awesome they fly..they have to show it... And not a ton of math, BMI, PFI, WSI, ANAL or PONY numbers could help you if you lacked the skill Its about being a good all-round pilot....not just doing the autistic solo flying (or just writing about it) Would be great if we could finaly see some proof of your writing Yuri...be it in your flying or presenting us with that bound-to-be-amazing "home-grown wingsuit" that flies better then anything out there.... We know you dont like the gay holding hands pyama parties... If you could just try and steer away from dz.com when you're near empty Wodka bottles that would help a lot... Gay Pony hugs! Jarno BMCI (Bird Man Chief Inseminator?) p.s. Extra nipples dont give you bonus points either (sadly) -

Heyhey, Some news on the competition; - Karin (aka 'Kaat') has found nice, cheep cabins close to the dropzone. For those interested, send her a message to sort out a reservation for you and your team. PM Karin - For those wanting to take it cheep and easy (no more driving to a cabin after drinking in the DZ bar, just roll into bed), Bunkrooms are available, and camping on the dropzone is also allowed. The dropzone has good showers/toilets. - Next to the teams already announced, we have quite a few 'big names' currently looking into coming. With a bit of luck we'll truly have most of the good wingsuit pilots there, making sure the flying we will be seeing is going to be top notch! - We now also have a logo, and working with sponsors, there will probably be some cool (free) T shirts for everyone :) - We are also working with the dropzone to try and arrange a package deal for food/drinks. - Most people are aiming at arriving monday evening/tuesday morning. Training tuesday/wednesday. The competition is set for thursday/friday (sat/sun in case of bad weather). - After the competition (for the weekend), Load Organising is present, and with the 30 to 40 flyers we have there, we will be doing some awesome jumps and try some new and funky formations..
