  1. April fools... Have to say Im impressed with this response, as its already mentioned 2 posts up that its a joke But big thank you anyways... Wasnt a complete joke, did bang myself up a bit in the tunnel, but nothing permanent JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Sweet..cool improvements... Any chance at you or robi having some of the new products with you in Spa for a testflight over the weekend? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. And side subject.. We have the promise of good weather, and Im off shopping for some truly Dutch prizes (that you'll be capable of taking through customs, sorry jeff) Slighly more than 2 weeks, and then the party is on! Depending on how well the weather does, we may skip the 'training round' on thursday and get straight to the comp! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. I want to thank Pierre, Karin, Bo, toomas, Robi and especialy Tristan for sending me really nice messages and phonecalls regaring my broken wrist, and how some would even love to take my slot or postpone the competition.. Too bad its April 1st ;) Sorry..couldnt resist... Im still up and running, touching myself all over, and ready to whoop some ass at Spa. Even though according to the Belgian Federation, all C208 Caravans have been grounded indefinately due to mechanical problems ;) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. We're looking for one flyer, willing to fly in 'our team' Im sad to say I broke my wrist and 2 ribs practicing (evil!) freeflying in the windtunnel today. So FlyLikeBrick is looking for someone to play substitute in our team. If you can make it to Spa, and wouldnt mind having some fun with the other boyz, send me a [url http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do%3Dmessage%3Buser%3D341=Send+Private+Message"]PM[url] JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. I think Loics' website is THE most beautifull website there is on wingsuits. The look, and pictures and video are awesome. And I'd rather see comments on that, then hear from every single person in the world who has an S-fly in their closet, which is half of the wingsuit population anyways...which is what I was hinting at.. Try and comment on the website and Loics incredible video instead of turning it into a big ad for your operation.. Even ground-bound he is manages to drop my jaw....and seeing the creative 2 way flying, Im disappointed and happy at the same time he is not coming to Spa...as Im sure he'd rock at that thing, and take how 1st prize... Thread drift is fun...I love throwing in some ponies...but 'come to our DZ/school/academy/brick-oven' ever 3 posts...not needed (Also slapping myself on the wrist..as we all do this every now and again..) 7. We a have S-Fly demo suit, and with us you also get cookies and a sticker! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Maybe he just needed an excuse to try them all Demo's would have been cheeper hehe JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. We're jumping in two groups during the week. One could be classified as a beginner/intermediate group. And one more advanced group. If there's other 'low experience' birds thinking about attending the event. Though the 2 organised groups (depending on the size) may not immidiately be the thing you want to jump in to. Though its fun in terms of the 'everybody can play' vibe. We want to try and keep it safe and fun for everyone. So we dont want to throw people into jumps they are not ready for skillwise. But we will surely try and match people not ready for bigger formation up in 2 ways, and give you excersises and (if you have video or even just stories on what happened) help with a proper brief and debrief before every jump. And when your flying shows you're ready to take it a step bigger, we'll ease your way into the organised groups. We'll hook you up either way! So you're more then welcome if you ask me.. (That sayd, at the start of the week its probably not going to be real busy yet, so chances are the beginner/intermediate group is almost going to be 1 on 1 coaching with a coach and outside photo/video) Just shoot me a PM if you have further questions, and when on the DZ, just look for someone witha funny accent and a tye-dye rig JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Think its also part of every briefing anyone who has ever flown a wingsuit (regardless of brand/book or even 'official' training) should have had? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. No..as if you where to fly those suits at their optimum, you'd have a whole different picture then the current flocks done in big suits. But seemingly people would rather fly a big suit at 50% (in a flock) then flying a smaller one at 90% JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. I just heard that Birdman will send some S8 and Tengu demo's to the DZ for EmpuriaFlock '08. So those eager to try can give em a go during that week.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Who knows...we might surprise you Henny also confirmed you guys are coming. Awesome! We'll truly have an amazing group of flyers there for the after comp. flockin! And Pat, French version wil also be online tomorrow! And (seeing you're not in the comp) could I offer you an extra seat as a judge for thursday? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Adding to what Macca sayd... You can basicaly devide flying into two styles.. Floaty, headhigh flying, going for max freefall time... Steep, fast flight, going for distance... Though more variations are possible..I think people talk about finding the optimal angle/cruising speed, where they get the maximum performance out of their wingsuit for either of the two given flying styles. When flying in this 'perfect' cruising mode, people often experience it as smooth, relaxed and gayishly wonderfull.....the sweet spot JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. http://www.wingsuitcompetition.com/scores/ Here is a sneak peak at the section of the website where people (there and elsewhere) will be able to follow the competition in realtime from the comfort of their home and offices It will even reload automaticly every 5 minutes for the lazy people. We'll also have a laptop(s) up and running at the DZ where everyone can constantly see how high or low they rate. For those who didnt check it out yet, we have a special scoring system, so all the rounds (even though difficulty increases) will result in more equal 'handicap' scores. Making it possible to swing the end results one way or another up to the end. Otherwise one team could score 20 points in round one, and already have a headstart that no other team will be able to catch. Should 2 teams tie, the actual docks/points flown will be used to determine the end result. Big up to Costyn for making it work with a nifty database thingy. And thanx to the webcams, you can even see us walking around and packing and stuff! docks Got some questions regarding the ankle docks in round three. The have to be made on or within 10/15 cm of the ankle. So grabbing someones upper leg or knee is not what we want you to do. But all rounds will be explained once more at the day of the competition. scedule We're arriving tuesday evening, and doing trainingjumps on wednesday. The Thursday will start with one trainingjump, and after that we'll start the actual competition. We want to try and keep all the teams on the same rounds, so the contest stays exciting all the way through. After each jump, you go to Chris to have your video copied and reviewed. 16. Wrapped in latex Ill be faster alright...running from Purple Mike (sorry Mike..this is the last one joke your expense...promise....but its just soo easy) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. It may be personal preference, but if 2 suits fly the same glide ratio, then the 'slower' one (giving you more airtime for the same trajectory) would be my choice. Also in terms of BASE, being able to fly slower (at the same MAX glide) would seem like an advantage in terms of reaction time and enjoyment. Though of course, if the added speed brings you added distance..than the 'faster' suit would also have my preference. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. I fully agree with everything you sayd Jeff, but think the physical dangers are way to often the focus. The suit is just one factor. But actually being able to fly it well (skillwise and navigationwise) is most often overlooked. And people screaming for straight from AFF wingsuit jumps tend to only focus on somebody being able to handle pulling their main while under a littel stress. Things such as awareness of other traffic (freefallers and wingsuits), flying a correct patern to the opening spot, and even just plane simple awareness of what an opening canopy is doing, and correcting it with some simple harnas inputs are skills you rarely (if ever) find with 100 jump wonders who are always (as I thought I was too back then) Waayyyy ahead of the curve.. Whatever the curve might be...The current 'limit' is just a rough guideline of jump#, in which you hope people have had sufficient exposure to the enviroment in which they want to play to gain some essential skills. For some it will be enough..other may need 10.000 jumps and will still suck...and there is always someone with 15 jumps who tried and did fine.. But some common sense as to when to start flying wingsuits would be nice.. Im not saying flying a wingsuit is rocket science...heck..look around, and you see some people who (if they lost one more braincell) would probably shit on the kitchen floor and sit in the corner of a room drooling while banging their head on the wall...(and Im not just talking about purple mike when he spots a schoolbus) With a bit of preperation, everyone can learn to jump a wingsuit. Though only some will actually learn to FLY a wingsuit, and use the extra aerofoil the suit gives them. In general..the more experience the better...sending people up with less and less experience under their belt sure wont make it a whole lot safer... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  23. Sorry...we prefer listing prices in currency that doesnt drop faster in vallue than a fridge filled with anvills JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Nicely done.. Though do hit the 'de-interlace' button next time you compress something for the web. Without getting into the whole nerdy thing off what fields are and why they are there. You want to loose em for online compression, as it causes those 'jagged lines' in your video JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Sad news! Would it be of any help to them if we asked around to borrow some gear? I could offer a Next with a 170sqft Sabre-2 for jumpers of aprox. 1,90m and a Phantom it this helps! How about the sponsors in such an "emergency" situation? I think the financial loss of gear, and having to replace it, is what is preventing them from getting a 1000+ euro ticket to Europe. Gear can always be lent, and I dont think Tony/Jeff would even mind lending the boys an Sm1 (which is what was stolen). Lets just hope they are here next year... Its a shame they cant be there though, as SA is where the first competition in this style (docks/creative flying) was held.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
