  1. Please don't dumb it down! Challenge flyers...or atleast do different classes! Having those points challenges everyone to move forward in their skills! Get off your bellies people!!
  2. We met up with Tony and Jeff after their day-trip in Holland and I think its also safe to say they didnt go to Amsterdam to look at the cloggs and tullips And regarding the fallrates, personaly I had hoped everyone would put the flying ahead of making tons of docks. But Im proud and excited about what all teams managed to show and do. For the next competition, we will also be awarding points for style and flying, so we push this dicipline towards something that is closer to wingsuit flying. GAP (later in the year, warmer) will be the most likely location for that, with FlyYourBody maybe hosting the event. To make the competition more open to everyone, we will also focus more on belly-2-earth rounds. And for those who asked...Im in the middle of finishing some television work, that needs to air by tuesday evening, so Ive been 'a bit busy' Tuesday/Wednesday Ill hit the gas, and finish up on the competition video and slap that baby online! 3. The score consisted of points + camera this time. For the next edition, we'll be looking at only making the points flown part of the score. And we'll be including artistic points (how smooth are transitions made) and points for flying (wingsuit freefall or wingsuit flight). But thats all for stuff ahead of us...Video is in then worx.. 4. awesome... really cool to see more and more of this stuff.. Cant wait untill we're ready to participate in 8 way speedstart competitions JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Here are all teams on stage (sadly missing a few who had to leave before the ceremony). A big thank you to Skyjester, Cypres, FlyyourBody, Birdman, PF, TonySuits ,Paralog, Spa and the many sponsors who made this event possible! For the next competition we'll be using a new set of upgraded rules and figures. As the intent is to get this competition form as close the purest form of flight there is We'll also be making some changes in the divepool to accomodate teams who have no backflying experience. We definately had a wonderfull pilot event, and will continue on this road towards the next one! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. The next competition will be a (free) one round internet competition, with a running time of a month or 3. So no dedicated weekends you need to pick No excuses... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Ill try and post some pix on the docked 5 way tomorrow. And the next comp is coming soon (which you'll be able to do from the comforts of your own coozy dropzone) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Flying a classic and a Blade. Think I found a new toy I really want in Spa... Loving that new avatar UncleSuperChicken! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. De Dropzone was also extremely happy with how the event went. They've been extremely helpfull organising special run-ins with the caravan and skyvan, and where impressed with the flying they saw (on videos). We had a debrief on the event last sunday, and it was only positive things and praise about everyone that attended. The only negative thing was an intentional lowpull (in the sadle somewhere around 1000 ft according to the CI) by a person who had done a one or two (also noted by the CI) low-ish pulls already. It doesnt matter how low or high it was, low pulling isnt cool. It can get you (and us) banned from a dropzone if its done too often. So please dont do that at wingsuit events and when at a different DZ then your own (and preferably not at all, take up BASE jumping). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Had great fun trying different suits the last day...ProFly, Sm1, Stealth.. And though the later two seem to share the same performance envelope, costructionwise and in terms of feeling in flight I think I have a big preference for the Stealth. So much that Id be buying one as a personal toy right now if I had the spare cash. The lift/float ability is amazing, which rocks for flocking/camerawork, and the seperations are the most wonderfull solo cruising experiences Ive ever had.. The Sm1 was also way cool, but it felt a bit chunky compared to the PF version. Playing with the wings in freefall, felt a bit like pulling a piece of carpet. That felt much lighter on the Stealth. Also set a personal record on that (steep) rodeo dive with Robi and his girlfriend. 214 mph dive (last exit) to catch up with the formation Anyways..more coming soon..now Im off to work and some quality time with me girly JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. The round with ankle docks was the best example. In normal full flight, its hard to pull off, as you are flying in the burble of the armwing, and (as the person making the dock) need to slightly stall your wingsuit as you reach for the dock. Doing this just with the feet on the butt, in a (close to) boxman position ment the rate at which docks could be taken was much, much higher. And sometimes the creative licence taken on jumps was a bit high But fallrates and flying speeds aside, the whole competition showed some awesome flying. The 'handicap' scoring system worked incredibly well, and ment that the whole event stayed exiting down to the last round. As all rounds awarded equal scores, and teams couldnt win by just doing exeptionally well in one round. Based on the feedback and results teams were getting in the 4 rounds, we'll be coming up with a revised set of figures (for a divepool) for future events. For next editions (also for checking of the breakoff altitude) we're thinking about including a GPS with the camera flyer and asking a minimum glideratio of a team...but thats all stuff we'll be working out later. For next year a location more south (warmer) and later in the season will most likely be choosen. We're also looking at planning some small versions (just 1 to 3 simple rounds, with no backflying figures) on local dropzones around EU. But more on that later. The first event coming up after this (more details soon) will be a single round (online video submission) 2 way event, judged 100% on artistic vallue. Which means style, smoothness of flying, body postition and performed manouvres. Finishing the video is the next priority.. Though I might try and actually work a bit and earn some money in between all that stuff, as this is taking up a lot of time I should be spending on trying to paying the rent and stuff JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Woopsy..ment Kirstina there....no clue who Katrina is and how she got herself on that load..
  13. A big thank you to all the teams for showing up. We had some bad weather in the morning, so the Danish team decided to leave. And as soon as they crossed the border, the sun came out and the plane was fired up. We managed a docked 5 way (Patrick, Tristan, Jeff, Katrina en mayself). We first had some pacing issues with Tristan and me flying base, but the speed Patrick set on the next jump was awesome. Definately looking forward to tomorrow...more cool jumps coming.. And again..thank you all for coming, a BIIG thank you to all the event sponsors. And looking forward to organising this event again next year. And we'll be having an internet competition soon, so everyone world-wide can show what they got! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Wednesday proved to be a good trainingday. -22 degrees celcius at exit, but nice blue skies with a few fluffy clouds. Especialy TonySuits and the PF team went full tilt on training for the 5th round (and performing beyond expectations) The cold provided us with lots of blue and white noses, and even some ice forming in freefall. One of the DNB Nord crew experienced a malfunction on a canopy (not yet found) and had a succesfull cutaway and reserve landing. Today (thursday) we started with the contest, and teams are flying rounds one after another. Suits switching per round and 'wingsuit freefall' do seem to be popular methods of increasing scores, but even with that, there is no denying that the factory teams are in a whole other leage as the weekend warriors. Team Teuge just arrived, and is starting on round one, so they'll be playing catchup the next few hours. All teams are performing well, and in most cases beyond expectations (FLB aside, who is severly under-achieving, but rating high on the dodo award nomination list) Hans (Gadget) and Patrick are our capable judges, and are doing exelent work judging and updating the live internet scoring as the videos come in. The full video of all rounds will of course also be put online. Including the moments of shame such as me putting my shoe back on in freefall after an ankel dock, Karin trying her first ever backflying (in competition) and just all the cool bumps and bruising in general. Scoring and bitching about the better teams aside, we're having an awesome event here, and its really cool to see everyone involved in trying to make this a succes. Based on experience here, we'll come up with a redefined set of rules for the next event. After the comp rounds, flocking is plan B! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Great video.. Loved that mid-air hug/conversation...(the gay fondling, holding hands and touching thing is also our stylee) Chopper 'landing' looked like an expensive way to get a bloody nose Great editing as always! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. The only way to see that, is by taking a picture of hans into photoshop > rotate 180 degrees (and ignore the fact that the earth is wrong side up) Not a good way to score points with the judge ey And small note, the weather sux in belgium today (Im heading that way shortly) but clearing up tomorrow, and promise of blue skies by thursday JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. This is more of a question than a suggestion as I had heard a rumor that there would be a "surprise" category or round during the event. Footage obtained via G-14 classified means can be seen HERE Yea..we got payd there to test some new wingdesigns Imagine an umbrella company paying to to royaly F*k up some umbrellas in freefall..they even held for a gew seconds Imagine...we even made world news with that on silly short items for NBC etc. Right up there with Jeb and his landing in downtown vegas (ticket sales starting now!) Kay..back to the program.. We wanted to already try an open (demo) round this time, but seeing almost every team complained about already having a hard time training for the current rounds..we'll leave the creative/open stuff for a worldwide (web)competition coming soon
  18. If you need help getting to Spa, you're feeling lonely and need a fellow pony enthousiast to talk to, and of course in case of drunk dialing....my number is +31 624 111 093 Cya guys and girls in a day or so! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. Yea..actually hoping we'll already have some smooth operators present.. I concider this to be more a showcase event than it is a contest. We'l probably be using the comp rounds as trainingjumps from this point on, as they are awesome challanging things to practice and get better at what we do.. (Though a 40 way is also great practice when you're just starting out of course ) And I cant wait for the creative moves and funky stuff we'll hopefully see when we launch the next competition in a month or 2... Though next year, at the physical contest (probably Spa again)..try and have a bigger American showing then one team with an adopted Brit and an American with a German last name (not even mentioning the non-US-resident-amazing constantly-brand-monkey-switching Dutchman filming them)
  20. long version: 'Willing to consider' would be an understatement... When this competition finishes and the video is online (should be monday/tuesday after the comp), we'll already start working on the next competition. We've also been talking about that for a while. We're planning on having a 1 round, open (submit video) competition for free/creative flying. So teams (2 way + camera, maybe also 4 way + camera) can come up with a creative routine, and submit that as (un-edited) video, exit to seperation. We'll probably let that run for quite a while, so people have time to play/experiment and show what 'they got'. We will try and get some awesome people 'from the field' to judge the final batch of videos. We also thought about including a free round in this competition already, but people already have a hard time training for the current 5. So thats going to be the 'next thing'. We definately hope to make www.wingsuitcompetition.com the basis for more future forms of (non GPS based) wingsuit competitions. Short version: so....yea! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. weather No clue how accurate it is, but at the moment the weather forecast is shitty on tuesday, and then completely clear blue skies for wednesday (training) and thursday (the competition). Friday/Saterday/Sundat the forecast is partialy cloudy/sunny, so for all I can guess definately jumpable. With nice fluffy clouds to swoop! http://www.zoover.nl/belgie/luik/spa/weer the comp Seeing everyone should be able to make the 5 comp jumps in one day, I think we definately have a contest on our hands with this weather forecast, and most likely be able to finish it on thursday already! On friday we're holding the prize cermony planning and stuff Everybody is probably there already on wednesday, so I propose we have a meeting and (funny accent) intro-talk about the rules, times etc on wednesday evening, after jumping, in the bar! If teams could also front the massive 5 euro entrance fee then, that would be much appreachiated training For those traing on wednesday. There's more then a few coach-worthy people walking around. If you want some tips and hints on backflying, docks etc. be sure to grasp someone and ask. Its a boogie 100% about having fun and learning. stuffz On a personal note, yesterday we finaly managed to get a few FLB training-jumps in and try round 5 for the first time. Props to the team that pulls that one off with more then 1 or 2 points JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Why not ask that a few threads down, in the thread about sayd suit? Keeps information more condensed to one thread for future reference as well.. *edit* link http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3136700; JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
