  1. Side-subject...but putting the base out last and making sure everybody flies the exit, instead of first freefalling for a few hundred feet (with the better flyers exiting first floating back up to the base) seperation should also be much less of an issue... In terms of porter exits, most of the french DVD stuff from loic has some nice examples of a tiny dozen people crammed into the door. But still, a spread and flying the exit more is something that can improve buildtime a lot more than a crammed exit with one or two 'lost' people due to spins and tumbles because somebodies foot is up someone elses nose..:) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  3. If you look up all the skydiving records here and everywhere online, I think you'll find about a hundred or more. And I think if you look at all those records, 99% of them are record CLAIMS. Just records set to rules and definitions the recordholders created themselves for the purpoise of media exposure.. If you want to fly your wingsuit over the pentagon/white house/channel/gulf of mexico and calling it a 'world record' gets it done with permits and payd for by the TV people, and its gets you mentions in the media that you can use for your next sponsored jump or project...wanna bet your ass its also you calling your jump a record when the newspaper asks I know I would.. 4. That will be in the full (1hour) video that should be online by friday (next week) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Always good to know I have my graphic prowes to make sure I look cool, when the real performance is lacking JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. With data-loggers a lot of display speeds are just snapshots, but taking the data into a computer and doing a full readout should show a more detailed track of your jumps (in terms of speeds). I've done a lot of protrack/altitrack video overlays with the data, and 1 or 2 seconds aside (due to the start of the jump, the device having a slight lapse in starting) they are always (not one exception) spot on in terms of time. The only thing not correct are some high-low spikes due to moving my head/arm (or where-ever the device is mounted) around, in and out of my burble. But in general the speeds and times from the logger seem to 99,9% match the times on video (and altitudes of exit/pull). Which is a whole other subject than GPS loggers and their accuracy... But video still seems to be the most faithfull reading for time, as you can really take the moment you pitch/have linestretch as the end of your jump (where the logging devices usually give you a few extra seconds). 7. Thats 32 mph avg for almost 4 minutes..Oh mister Heffro...can I feel your arm-muscles.... Awesome work man..I can fly it at around 34-ish mph for a minute or so (in a big Sm1/Stealth) but after that my arms give out (usually just left..my right arm is very strong for some weird reason..so I end up making lots of turns) You coming to Marl this year dude? They have actual money prizes there (not Birdman money) sounds like a thing for you....and maybe see SkyJester fly his cool toys on top of that.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. The results page at http://www.wingsuitcompetition.com now also has a download link for a better quality video (underneath the shoddy youtube video) direct link JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Heyhey, After the wonderfull time we had last year, the time has finaly come again to announce the ToraTora Meet at SkydiveCenter Spa! Check here for the wingsuitvideo Werner made from last year. Or check http://www.toratora.nl for some of the boogie videos also featuring the freeflying and a bit more atmosphere. We'll be jumping in 2 smaller groups, focussing on nice and tight flying, and if the group is up for it, some multi-point dives. 1 on 1 coaching jumps and FFCs are also possible (at slot price, no extra charge), and we'll try and look at PF, BM, Tony and FYB to see if we can get some demo suits uit that way.. The Skyvan wil also do exits at ANY given speed, last year we had awesome fun climbing to incredible heights after exits at 140+ knts. If you're up for some serious fun, warm weather, cool flying and loads of fun people at a center with nice facilities. Hollaaa! There will be live entertainment, dinner at the bar (on the airfield) and the bunkrooms are nice and cheap, and there are lovely cabins only a few mins away. If somebody asks you next year if you jumped at that legendary ToraTora meet in Spa...whats going to be your excuse for not having being there...? COME FLY WITH US! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. And wohoo! VIDEOOOO! http://wingsuitcompetition.com/ If you go to 'the results' you will see a short impression on the competition. The one hour long, full video is also coming asap. 13. I never really do solo time jumps, but two weekend ago I did a fun jump from 6000 ft in James' Stealth, trying to see if I could fly for a minute, pulling at 3k. The plane was a Cessna 206, normal speed exit, and sadly around 100+ kg exit weight. 62 seconds was the score (from video, exit to pitch/pull). I sadly had to make a turn halfway into the jump, as otherwise I would have landed out, but 70 seconds seems do-able if its just straight and level flight. The turns always build up a bit more speed. avg. speed was 38 mph, around 34 mph seems doable as a sustained speed when its just a straight line you're flying.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. http://wingsuitcompetition.com/ A short message for the F5 junkies.. The website has just recieved a (minor) update, with an eye to (near) future events. The results are posted online on a special page, and Im putting the finishing touches on the video as we speak, so that should also be online asap (before midnight tomorrow evening). Enjoy! 15. At the moment PD is hard at work producing all the (production model) Storm canopies that will be hitting the boogie and PD demo-tours. Within a month or so, you should be able to demo the canopy almost everywhere.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. If the site sayd "Updating" than thats whats happening guys...Im currentlyn (as in, right now!) updating the whole website, also with a new competition thing (online video submission!) so keep breathing...dont wear out your F5 button just yet.. The wait will be worth it...promise.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Media 'records' are quite often variations on real records. But the actual record isnt the point in these things. Its about doing something cool, getting the wingsuits promoted in the media (in a positive way), and about getting a sponsor-name out there who is paying for a lot of the cool things you do. Seeing Ueli travel all over the world for Red Bull (his RB AirRace demo at the start always rocks) I cant say anything else but, excelent! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. The stuff we've done so far with the RED ended up looking great, but saying the whole track from shooting to post-processing was 'a bit troubled' would be an understatement. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  21. I got this translation per email... This is computer translation of repport: To Ukraine people-birds - glider pilots who carry out extreme flights have arrived. First they hang in air in free flight, and then land by means of a usual parachute. In air station in Borodyanka, under Kiev three birdmans have flown by only. However organizers say, that have invited the best Suit of the superman, to be exact birdmans - the main secret of the person-bird. In it between legs, and also between a hand and body includes special "MEMBRANES" from a strong fabric. During flight air there gets and the person can maneuver as if a bird. Kris: Freedom, you - an airplane. you fly, instead of you fall. You move forward, and it is such freedom. The pleasure from free fly lasts not for long - only some minutes. For this time the glider pilot has time to fly by up to seven kilometers and to gain momentum about 100 kilometers at an o'clock. Only a suit for birdman is not enough of one. For fly those who already has jumped not less than 200 times with parachute are supposed only. Jarno: It is more difficult, than simply to fly with parachute. There you can maneuver hands, but there they are clasped in a winged suit. Flight is influenced even with the most insignificant movement by hands. Therefore it much refined. Besides so to fly more dangerously. Your hands are borrowed also you cannot lift them and will grasp for parachute. Therefore at us here is special yellow a cable which releases hands when you take parachute. To flights in a suit of the person-bird about 10 years. They are very popular in USA and in the Europe, and here to Ukraine people-birds have arrived for the first time. However here they already had time to involve to flights some tens ukrainians. Several more have learnt on instructors. Elena Dementyeva: In the USA it is very developed, there in each air station, jump it will be obligatory among parachuters even ten birdmans. At us while is weaker, though at us already too, here yesterday full rise was, there 18 person was in air, Have much learned to fly and soon in the sky above Borodyanka there will be whole flights. In the world total already thousand people-birds. They travel on the different countries, arrange competitions and bright shows in the sky. On one of the last - have established a record - in the sky 45 glider pilots simultaneously flied. Roman Sukhan. Dmitry Bolshakov, channel, 5. Roman Sukhan, channel 5 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz_WU2_z9Yo Just back from the Ukraine, where we attended the first big wingsuit boogie. MI8 and Turbolet jumps over the beautifull Ukrainian countryside. Loads of fun getting a 3km out spot for a bigway, and asking the pilot for 5km (altitude) exit. With the pilot then adding the numbers, and giving us close to a 10km upwind exit point Definately a cool event. Managed to kick a dozen or more birds into the air (sadly sans Camposs) and do some nice flying with the wonderfull people there. Everyone a big thank you, and probably some more funny TV stuff coming soon as we had 5 lokal and national channels/crews drop by for interviews and footage. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Coolio.. Also have a long awaited surprise online for you guys tomorrow Who are the 'Jarno Cordias' you are talking about in the end credits though? Would love to meet the other ones.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Most of the Argus wingsuit jumped the canopy a few months back as well.. Most people seem positive about this one.. In general 'a spectre with better glide and handling characteristics' seems to be what people say about the canopy. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
