Due to unforseen circumstances and injury, Dos Gatos, the freestyle team of Missy Nelson and Bill Hughes, was unable to compete in the 2003 US Nationals which could prevent them from joining the US Team at the 2004 World Meet in Brazil. As it stands, there is an open slot for freestlye at the World Meet, but we need your help to convince the USPA to allow them to represent the US. We have posted an online petition for ALL USPA MEMBERS to sign, to show our support for sending Dos Gatos to the World Meet. If you feel that one of the best US freestyle teams in recent times should be allowed to represent the US, please take the few seconds to submit your info. Have your USPA member number ready! Thankfully most everyone seems to feel the same way about allowing Dos Gatos to compete in the World Meet. I honestly can't see why any competitors would not want them to be allowed into the games. 2 of this years' national medallists will be going to Brazil, and the open slot has been declined by the 2 alternates. That leaves 1 slot open for the US freestyle team. Why shortchange the US delegation by not sending a team as good as Dos Gatos in their stead? I don't know about other competitors, but when my team shows up in Brazil... I want the best to be there. I want to know how we stack up against the best in the world, even if that means we don't medal. I don't want to claim a medal with the thought that we didn't beat the best, who would? As someone said here, this is a USPA issue. We can either support Missy and Bill, or we can not support them. In the best interest of the sport, I'm giving them all the support I can give. Thanks guys. We're just glad people liked the routine. It's fun as hell to fly! I think all of us have about 2200 jumps, and I'd say that almost 1700 of them are together, whether it was as a team training jump, fun jumps before we were a team, organizing together, stuff like that.
