i have a desert eagle .50 that kinda blows everything up...and is fun. otherwise, you can put gunpowder inside it, fuse, and bang...or, throw it off a high building, hit it with a car/truck, put it on the back of the truck and do donuts till it flys off, baseball bat it like the comp in "office space"....the possibilities are endless

Three friends check into a motel for the night and the clerk tells them the bill is $30, payable in advance. So, they each pay the clerk $10 and go to their room. A few minutes later, the clerk realizes he has made an error and overcharged the trio by $5. He asks the bellhop to return $5 to the 3 friends who had just checked in. The bellhop sees this as an opportunity to make $2 as he reasons that the three friends would have a tough time dividing $5 evenly among them; so he decides to tell them that the clerk made a mistake of only $3, giving a dollar back to each of the friends. He pockets the leftover $2 and goes home for the day! Now, each of the three friends gets a dollar back, thus they each paid $9 for the room which is a total of $27 for the night. We know the bellhop pocketed $2 and adding that to the $27, you get $29, not $30 which was originally spent. Where did the other dollar go???? --Just thought this was a fun riddle...but yes, it does involve a little grade school math...

i always think it's cool how today with computers and all we think of how "primitive" the past was, and how "man, i can't imagine not having my cell phone now" etc....i'm kinda looking forward to the next big thing that makes laptops and cellphones seem obsolete pieces of equipment that primitive humans used a long long time ago...

First small plane jump (cessna 182)
Iceburner replied to Evelyn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
most of my jumps have been out of 182's, and i love them. Also jumped a Pac 750, and it has its benifits as well. Smallest plane for me was an ultra-light....now THAT was fun...even though it was only a hop n pop...but the pilot has a nice video. Going to get a few balloon jumps in this winter, and proly some more ultra-lights cuz it's gettin too cold to go all the way up edit---yes, most of my 60 jumps...but hey, we all had to start somewhere -
i'm probably an odd ball here, but i'm just finishing college and i hate every minute of school...i love college, and loved highschool, just not the classes aspects...i guess cuz i've known i wanted to be an officer in the USMC for forever (before kindergarden)and i guess i considered studying "theology" (which my college requires) a waste of time

yea, that last one was pretty fuckin disturbing

Jumping at a DZ that requires an AAD
Iceburner replied to Gravitymaster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
the way i looked at it (probably incorrectly) is that a used one will require more money much sooner to update and all...and another reason i went with the newer one is because it was there, handy, and ment i could jump my rig that much sooner -
Jumping at a DZ that requires an AAD
Iceburner replied to Gravitymaster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
first, forgive this "50 jump wonder" for not responding sooner...the Marines have taken a lot of my time with training, but so be it. i never claimed to be a good skydiver, all i claimed was that i have faith in myself, and this faith that i have that i'd pull silver would have saved me $1200+ if i would have had the option. I understand that myself as a "50 jump wonder" am a newbie, and i dont claim to be anything that i'm not. Perhaps it's the Marines, but i dont talk myself up if i can't back it up. I work on RW, and a bit of freeflying, and am confident in my emergancy procedures. Simply put, i could really use $1200 right now, but i didn't have the choice. So instead of going from a "50 jump wonder" to a "70 jump wonder" these past weeks, i'm working extra to make up for the $ that my rig, AAD, and student classes have cost me. I also understand that the 1 time MY AAD fires, it will be worth the $1200. However, requiring people to buy one i believe is wrong. You can strongly suggest a purchase, show the "50 jump wonder" all of it's benifits and allow HIM/HER to make an informed decision. Charging a machine gun nest, or an enemy position isn't the brightest thing to do, and you can argue skydiving w/out an AAD is the same. However, it's a decision that i'd like to have the choice to make, knowing full well that the decision I make could cost me my life. on another note, the people that have burned in (that i have read about), and i know there are other circumstances, "could" be here because of an AAD OR if they had followed their emergancy procedures. Pondering on what "could" have happened, i believe is a mistake. I think this argument is much like the argument on if the death penalty "deters" crime...but perhaps that is my own tangent. -
anyone know if that's legal? how would you claim that on taxes...or wouldn't you? If some guy made even 100 bucks, it's worth a try
-
so you are saying i should make a link here, and all you will pay for a few of my jumps? hey, one can hope right

Jumping at a DZ that requires an AAD
Iceburner replied to Gravitymaster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I got off my student status this summer, got a rig this summer, and was required to get an AAD....it was one hell of a chunk of change, and had i not been required, i probably wouldn't have gotten an AAD. However, now that i have one, i'm under the impression that if it fires, it was worth the buy....although i'm not planning on it ever needing to fire (i will pull silver long before ever relying on the AAD). I can see why a lot of people are upset about having AAD's required. Part of what makes skydiving fun is that it's dangerous (or appears dangerous)...not that an AAD takes away from this, but untill a 100% effective AAD comes out, i dont think they should be required. I'm already broke from doing all this in 1 summer, and it's about 1200 bucks i could have saved. I have faith in myself, and i believe it should be up to the jumper to have an AAD or not. If they go in w/a no pull, it's most likely their fault (lack of awareness, not doing emergancy procedures, etc). I know there are other instances where AAD's have saved lives, and "would have" saved lives, but flying w/out an AAD is a risk, one which i would have been willing to take....if i truely had the option.
