  1. I think there is some sort of punch-card system where every 10th pardon is free
  2. I think I could have worded my original post better...the point I was trying to make wasn't that what he's done so far with the pardons isn't that bad, but rather that he's likely to try to pull some even more brazen/damaging stuff before it's all over.
  3. Not to downplay the level to which Trump is abusing his pardon power to benefit some truly despicable people but: If we get to January 21 and the worst thing we can say about Trump’s last 30 days is that he pardoned Manafort and Jared Kushner’s dad**, I’ll consider it that we got off easy. **if you’re not familiar with the history of Charles Kushner, it is worth googling....
  4. Mann not wanting to waste his breath on random deniers seems equivalent of Bill Booth not opening up his experiment to whuffos with chainsaws.
  5. I'm pretty indifferent, I just disagree with my wife's approach when the friend repeats a whacko talking point. I'm in no way defending the point, but attacking her for repeating it just leads to a fight every-single-time. On that much we're in 100% agreement!
  6. My wife has been best friends with the same person since they were in middle school. They were roommates in college and they still get together at least once a week, after several decades of being close. My wife and I are fairly progressive, her best friend is a Fox-watching conservative who voted for Trump in 2016 because she was 'sick of poor people getting everything'. At least once a month they have a blow-up fight due to the friend parroting some Fox talking point and my wife telling her that she's wrong and awful for believing that shit. I agree with my wife when she points out how horrible it is to compare government shutdowns to Nazi occupation; it's complete bullshit drummed up by Fox to rile up the masses. But screaming at people that they're stupid, racist, horrible etc... just reinforces the 'Elite democrats want to control you' narrative that Fox et all are pushing. For way too many people, Fox is 'the real news'. I don't know a way to get people out of that bubble, but I know that aggressively calling them racist is more likely than not to cause them to dig in their heels.
  7. That's obviously NOT what she's saying. She's not defending their viewpoint, just offering a bit of nuance rather than screaming 'they're all evil racists!' Trying to understand where people are coming from doesn't necessarily mean you agree with what they think. If there's the slightest bit of hope that the current levels of polarization-based hatred can be deescalated, it's gotta start with people trying to understand the other side.....that's difficult as fuck when the 'other side' considers anybody to the political left of Stephen Miller to be Luciferien, but I don't have any better ideas.
  8. https://time.com/person-of-the-year-2020-joe-biden-kamala-harris/ Good news, well deserved! Also I enjoy thinking about Trump's reaction to it.

  10. I guess I just don't get these never-ending claims that Trump is playing 8-dimensional chess with a grander plan. His shallowness has been on display forever! He's not trying to cannibalize the GOP, they're just collateral damage in his war against having lost something and not being able to buy or bully his way to his desired outcome. He couldn't give two shits if he does take them down, but it's not a conscious effort.
  11. Where are you getting this info, I thought the DS choked off the lines of communication?
  12. Come on guys, I don't speak Dutch!!!
  13. I think the GOP was already starting to break a sweat on the prospect that Trump's incessant whining that the election was rigged and that democracy is broken are going to limit GOP turnout in the GA runoffs. The turnout for the runoffs is the $64,000 question. Stacey Abrams has worked some magic (via impressive organization/outreach and just good old-fashioned working her ass off) with building Democrat enthusiasm and turnout over the past few years. Anybody making predictions about what's going to happen in the runoffs is talking out of their ass, but I'll risk being accused of such things to say that it's likely to be a close one and that the GOP can't afford to lose too many votes to cynicism or - hilariously worse - Trump-themed protest votes.
  14. As opposed to celebrating the murder/attempted murder of Iranian scientists and attempted murder of their spouses. Your comments in that thread illustrate the depth, breadth and completeness of your thinking on such topics.
  15. I'd suggest you tone it down 15-20% there Mark, you're about to blow a gasket in your championing of death this morning.

    covid-19

Looks like Black Friday saw the US topping 200k new positive test results for the first time ever. It seems a little bit fitting no?
  17. So are the 'Q' channels back open or is this your personal free-style 'drop'?
  18. Says the guy who just posted the link to newsbusters.org
  19. That's fucking awesome! I thought www.loser.com was good, but this is superb!
  20. You sure do predict a lot of violent revolutions in our near future........
  21. Assuming that the place remains just a circle-jerk of conspiracy bullshit, with no libtards to fight with and nobody getting banned to spark outrage, will they just get tired of the lack of controversy and move on? I imagine that as long as there's a platform there will be some nutters on there, but will it stay as big as it currently is?
  22. I'm trying, but he won't return my calls for some reason.
  23. Never had heard of newbusters.org before, but wow! Dude, I'm concerned about you
