just upgraded from 135 to 140mph. beltway 8 & Cullen. near the 288S exit for Spaceland.

You mean nice informative article w/ no dollar signs anywhere. i think he follows them very well. did he order a red star? hadn't noticed me thinks treejumps is jealous of canopypiloting. or maybe it's envy. perhaps you would like to take a moment to thank canopypiloting for making the sport of swooping what it is today.

that's the correct location. the tunnel is down for some maintenance and won't be running till Monday (1/24). The tunnel used to be located in Conroe a year or two ago.
-
max airspeed in the portable tunnel is about 135mph. You can use your own suit. Both times I've been in it they were almost out of gas. They don't run the tunnel at full power when they're low on fuel. Neither time I was able to fly headdown. I was able both times to keep a balanced headdown position but with my head on the floor. They said they could have given me about 10mph more if they hadn't been low on fuel. I think I could have gotten myself off the floor with less than an additional 10mph. They had the portable up at the WFFC last year. A few freeflyers there were able to fly headdown in it.

These operators seem to be really smooth with adjustments in airspeed. Hasn't been a problem for me. Definetly give them a try if you're just driving by.
-
a little. they're a good group of guys. good tunnel flyers too. In the past the skydiver rate for their portable has been $5 a minute with a minimum 10 minute purchase. You don't have to use all your time at once.

same guys opening the new L1 tunnel at Memorial City Mall in a few months. Check out the portable while you have the chance. It changes locations alot due to noise pollution.

Those are the same people that are opening the new L1 in a few months. If you've been thinking about trying the portable and the location is convenient you should when you get the chance. Never know, it could be gone tomorrow or next week. They have to change locations alot due to noise pollution. www.adrenln.com

the new L1 Silent, Multi-Level Tunnel is scheduled to open early summer at Memorial City Mall. The tunnel has been purchased and the lease has been signed. This tunnel is happening in just a few months. No need to hold your breath.

my brother became good friends with a foreign exchange student from ecaudor back in high school. him and a friend were invited to ecaudor by her family and spent two weeks there. the family they stayed with was rich. my brother said the people in ecaudor loved americans. he never said anything about it being unsafe. that was 9 years ago. maybe thinmgs have changed.

How far have you driven to a boogie
Levin replied to pa2themd's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ramon and I drove 18 hours from Houston to SummerFest in 2001. We were going to go in Ramon's car but it broke at the last minute so we took mine instead. I forgot to inform him until we were pulling out of the driveway that my ac didn't work. By the time we got to Illinois we were shouting at each other because the wind noise with the windows down all the way made us kinda deaf. Brits17, Zennie and I drove 18 hours to Bridge Day in 2002. On the way back Ted and I fell asleep with Brit driving. While we were asleep Brit missed the exit for I20. We had to backroad thru Mississippi to get back to the Interstate. Why fly when you can drive. Part of going on a trip is about seeing the country. -
hd is my safety position. when i started i made about 40 sit jumps. then i made 1100 almost consecutive hd jumps where i stayed hd from exit to breakoff. of those jumps i did very few flips or cartwheels. in the time that it took me to make those jumps i became so uncurrent in my sit that i couldn't do anymore. i had to relearn the position. while I was learning to sit again i lost my balance a few times and instinctively went straight on my head.

i haven't read the thread regarding an incident in z-hills (going too). i think what you've written is really good. i would like to add the ability to make in place 360's to your suggestion above. reason being because 2 people can hold a heading doesn't mean they are falling straight down. if one or both of the jumpers have a foward drive then the other jumper is going to have to turn to keep him in eye sight. if that other jumper can make his turns in place then that will minimize more unintentional movement. when i'm coaching someone that is just getting started freeflying. i focus on getting that person ready for 2-ways because thats what they want to be able to safely do as quick as possible. once someone has a stable sit and can hold a heading, i start teaching forward movement and 360 turns. i don't put any emphasis on flips or cartwheels. i don't feel those 2 skills are really necessary for safe 2-ways. I feel those are tricks they can learn on their own time.

wide angle lens for tandem stills & freeflying

i have a cannon eos rebel x still camera. what is a good lite weight lens to get. i'd like to stay under $300. prferably closer to $200. also what is a good remote switch to use? i'd like a hand held push button type. i don't mind having to mess with running a cable under my jumpsuit and down my arm. thanks -
Not surprising. Thanksgiving holliday is about the entire family having dinner. New Years is about fireworks, parties and jumping. I can understand being closed on Christmas. I'm not going to the DZ on Christmas. I don't understand being closed on New Years. Typically that is a DZ's busiest day of the winter. What about jumping into the New Year at 11:59 p.m. plus a few seconds? Why would any DZ want to be closed on New Years?

I dropped my Pro-Dytter while carrying my gear back in the house. It stayed out side all night in the rain. I sent it to L&B for repairs. It wasn't fixable so they sent me a new replacement for free. L&B ROCKS!!! I have experience dealing with several manufacturers. Especially way back when I worked in the gear store at Spaceland. Of all the manufacturers I've dealt with L&B has the best service by far. There customer service is on another level. Second to none.

Since pretty much every place in Texas is going to be closed except Spaceland, yall might need all 3 Otters. Despite the fact that 30+ people want to jump on New Year's at Waller the DZ is still going to be closed. A number of those people are planning on coming to Spaceland. If I'm not out of town in the Athens, Nacogdoches, Gladewater area, I'll be at Spaceland that weekend as well.
