What can we do about Skyride?

piss off -
damn conway, i'm really sorry to hear that. my dad passed away 3 months from lung cancer. he passed away in his sleep without any pain. i hope it is the same for your mom. that's the way it should be. the next few months are going to be tuff but you are a really strong person and i know you will make it thru this. you are both in my prayers and if there is anything i can do let me know.

in '95 or '96 before i started jumping my dad told me one of east texas skydiving club's (now skydive east texas) 182's didn't have a door on it thru the winter. they jumped it anyway. he said it was absolutely miserable sitting in the back of that plane. i can't imagine. i don't think i would have done it. even back when i didn't know any better.
-
never jumped in florida. i'm thinking i will make a few trips next year if i don't go to australia.
-
thanks bill von! i don't understand electrical stuff to much. i get the bottom line is don't go screwing with the wires in the plane. i was hoping not have to use batteries. 6+ space heaters is alot of c or d batteries. but oh well, it'll be worth it.

Lost Our Jump Plane (not an accident)
Levin replied to rushmc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
how about yall catch a ride on it to hinkley and jump there. same plane, different scenery. could be fun. -
headdown and a thong of a canopy gets me out of the freezing ass cold much faster. i've been doing double and triple back to backs with a spectre120 and a sabre150. those are some big canopies. i actually kinda like flying them for something different. however, i've picked a bad time of the year to start learning CRW. but since catfish is leaving in a few months i've gotta suck it up and cram some lessons. btw, that's your 1st post, tim. beer!!

i actually don't mind the 182's in the winter if i can sit by the pilot and have the heater blowing on the back of my neck. if i have to sit anywhere else in that plane, i'm not getting in it. edit: typos

i've always thought of a kurupee suit as a pillow case with arms and legs. can't go wrong with firefly. www.fireflysuits.com

yah, what dave said. if you're in texas you can come see me at skydive houston for a ball jump. i'll take ya on one after a 2-way to prove your skilled enough to do it. as for ballmastering yourself i have adeal with dzo that only myself and moffet can ballmaster. this way i don't ever have to worry about one being dropped, especially behind my back. and the pilot doesn't have to worry about losing his license. maybe sounds a little unfair but it's in the best interest of everyone.
-
sounds like i get to try out my own myth buster. hoping what you say turns out to be fact and not legend.
-
i break out the long underwear just to take my dog out to the bathroom. i bet that takes balls. except when you get to the door you don't have any.
-
sounds like skydive - a winter in paradise. i didn't plan ahead this winter. next year thinking about going to australia.
-
i haven't been in a jump plane yet where the heater up by the pilot heated the entire plane. they all spill air thru cracks and the door. feels like a knife piercing your skin. especially on the back of your neck. i thought about wearing a scarf but in a sit in freefall it might strangle ya. occasionally the ceiling panel in our otter partly falls down. lots of colorful wires up there. one of them has to be a good powersource for space heaters. i'm thinking about stowing them in my helmet.
-
where do you jump? skydive igloo?
-
hmmm, dancingflame recommends winter in siberia. i think not. but maybe some summer.

the advantage is the motivation to go on a serious diet so that he will be able to decrease or keep his w/l the same while downsizing to a 120. and then there's the added comfort of having to wear a harness that is slightly to big for him. but on the other hand he could enjoy the monetary luxury of buying a new rig, but that would be silly since the velo120 will likely fit in his container that currently holds a vision132. all that just to buy a x-braced canopy that won't do him any good.

so coming to texas for christmas are ya. timmy the tuff volunteers to ride to altitude by the otter door. damn glad that seats now taken. think i'll sit by the pilot. winter sucks.
-
would they happen to be space heaters rigged up under the seats?? if so i'd like to know how the were installed. i'd hate to splice them into the wrong wire. will they run off an airplane battery or is that the wrong current?
-
that'd be enough to make me move south for the winter. i wonder what christmas is like on the equator.
-
47 degrees outside right now. just had a thought. anybody ever try to wire space heaters into a jump plane? a 1/2 dozen+ would fit great under the seats in an otter. walgreens has lower back warmers for sale for $3.99. similar to hand and toe warmers.

I'm hoping before the end of this month. Depending on when I can get my car fixed. How are your new freeflyers coming along?
