In this case, community service would've been more appropriate. But, I agree that she is only has remorse because she is incarcerated. I oppose mandatory Mins. because of cases like this, not to suggest that she shouldn't have been punnished, but 2 years with these circumstances? I've seen trials where drug dealers on their second and third offences get probation. I'd personally like to see them get the jail time, as well as the charles mansons and the violent criminals. blue skies

I'll jump into this one. first, everyone has the right to say what they want from the kkk to dixie chicks; however, people have a right to disagree. Furthermore, look where they were: Texas. Home of the Alamo. Bush's home. Celeberties are not politicians, but they are held accountable for what they say/ do. Perhaps they should consider that when they make these statments. They may lose money when they piss people off (God forbid they not be able to buy that new airplane.) I personally get tired of singers and actors who think that because they have a good song or a hit movie that they can tell me how to feel about the state of the universe. I'll admit: I'm a Joe Nobody, and my knowledge of politics is purely academic. So, the dixie chicks should remember that their fans pay their bills and that they must cater to that demographic. Radio stations have people to answer to, too. So in short, if true fans really care, they won't stop buying the music; but the dixie chicks must realize that they are not politicans. So they should shut the fuck up and sing! On a side note, any bets on how long it will take to move this to SC?

yeah, about that, im thinking i will try to stay away from the thesis option. I had to write one in undergrad, and the only difference was that it did not have to be original research, so i spent a year hanging out in james monroe's world reading his crappy handwritting (which is worse than mine), because his letters were not typed. that was not a particularly nice experience. Im thinking i'll go w/ an internship; that will give me experience and contacts in the work world Then i can perhaps get more contacts and reccomendations when i take another shot at getting into lawschool. Where i will become like Dante, only less of a poet, and descend the circles of academic hell. but any advice would be appreciated

I finally got into grad school. The GRE Sucks, as do all standardized tests. Now I may be able to jump before school starts. Im really happy, yay for me.

In Georgia, inmates get paid nothing. But if I was given a choice between working for nothing and being incarcerated 24/7 with nothing else to do, i would work for free.
