  1. What? No comments or votes for the pernicious "Chef" actions?
  2. "The owner of the Virginia restaurant who asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave her establishment on Friday night said she did not regret her decision. “I would have done the same thing again,” Stephanie Wilkinson, the owner of the Red Hen restaurant told the Washington Post. “We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions. This appeared to be one.” The small restaurant found itself in the national spotlight after Sanders tweeted Saturday morning that she had been asked to leave Red Hen, which is located in Lexington Virginia, because she works in the Trump administration. Sanders did not mention Wilkinson by name, but it was clear the press secretary disagreed with her decision. “Her actions say far more about her than about me,” Sanders said. “I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.” http://time.com/5320482/sarah-huckabee-sanders-virginia-restaurant/
  3. Amid the carnage of Republican misrule in Washington, there is this glimmer of good news: The family-shredding policy along the southern border, which was merely the most telegenic recent example of misrule, clarified something. Occurring less than 140 days before elections that can reshape Congress, the policy has given independents and temperate Republicans — these are probably expanding and contracting cohorts, respectively — fresh if redundant evidence for the principle by which they should vote.... Ryan and many other Republicans have become the president's poodles, not because James Madison's system has failed but because today's abject careerists have failed to be worthy of it. As Madison explained it in Federalist 51: "Ambition must be made to counteract ambition. The interest of the man must be connected with the constitutional rights of the place." Congressional Republicans (congressional Democrats are equally supine toward Democratic presidents) have no higher ambition than to placate this president. By leaving dormant the powers inherent in their institution, they vitiate the Constitution's vital principle, the separation of powers.... Recently Sen. Bob Corker, the Tennessee Republican who is retiring, became an exception that illuminates the depressing rule. He proposed a measure by which Congress could retrieve a small portion of the policymaking power that it has, over many decades and under both parties, improvidently delegated to presidents. Congress has done this out of sloth and timidity — to duck hard work and risky choices. Corker's measure would have required Congress to vote to approve any trade restrictions imposed in the name of "national security." All Senate Republicans worthy of the conservative label that all Senate Republicans flaunt would privately admit that this is conducive to sound governance and true to the Constitution's structure. But the Senate would not vote on it — would not allow it to become just the second amendment voted on this year. This is because the amendment would have peeved the easily peeved president. The Republican-controlled Congress, which waited for Trump to undo by unilateral decree the border folly they could have prevented by actually legislating, is an advertisement for the unimportance of Republican control. https://www.adn.com/opinions/national-opinions/2018/06/24/this-november-cast-your-vote-against-the-gop/ Will served as an editor for National Review from 1972 to 1978 The Frustration of the Anti-Trump Republicans https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/06/anti-trump-republicans-frustration-bob-corker-mark-sanford/
  4. The theft of intellectual property is not exclusively a Chinese phenomenon. Everyone does it but China excels. Every trade agreement contains patent and intellectual rights protections. China’s New Silk Road Encroaches on U.S. Turf in Eastern Europe https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-12/china-s-new-silk-road-encroaches-on-u-s-turf-in-eastern-europe "From Poland on the Baltic Sea to Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria along the Danube river, governments are wooing Chinese investors to, in some cases, replace U.S. companies that are pulling out. It’s a sign of what’s in store with Trump’s America relinquishing its role as the world leader on issues from climate change to free trade and Chinese President Xi Jinping championing internationalism." If Trump seems bad, remember Caligula A nation’s institutions will hold it together if a madman takes the helm https://www.spectator.co.uk/2018/01/if-trump-seems-bad-remember-caligula/ "Take his portrait of the viciously self-indulgent Caligula. His desire to humiliate senators and officials and to put on shows, dress up, act, sing and dance, made him very popular with the people. Consuls who forgot his birthday were stripped of office for three days. He ordered the death or exile of senators, friends and relatives with complete insouciance. His dark humour reflected his actions: ‘I can do anything I please, to anybody’ was his mantra. He demanded that the finest Greek statues of the gods be brought to Rome, and have their heads replaced with his. He set up a temple to himself and would invite the full moon to share his bed. He acquired and got rid of wives almost at random, made a habit of seducing women of distinguished families,,"
  5. Triggered? Is that what you call it when you resort to vulgarity and people answer back? At least you are slightly more clever than Marc. Even though you both keep claiming how "hilarious" you feel we are as you express your anger. Remember the Cuban missile crisis? The "libtard" JFK handled that without starting a war. I'm doubting Trump could. Remember when the libtards said Trump was gonna lead us to WWIII or a nuclear war last year? Even as early as this January and February? Doesn't look like its gonna happen now. "Donald Trump has declared that North Korea still poses an “extraordinary threat” to the United States, just days after saying that the country’s nuclear program no longer constituted a danger. In an executive order on Friday, the president extended for one year the so-called “national emergency” with respect to the nuclear-armed nation, re-authorizing economic restrictions against it. While expected, the declaration comes just nine days after Trump tweeted: “There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea,” following his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore" https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jun/22/trump-north-korea-extraordinary-threat-nuclear-program
  6. I read three stories in the lase week where republican ;eaders were going democrat. The biggest factor will be republicans who don't turn out for midterms and democrats who are motivated to turn out. On another note, did you predict a Hillary landslide too? No, but I knew there would be a train wreck if the orange, lying, idiot was elected.
  7. As usual Fox news is wrong. "The nuclear species is going extinct,” Mycle Schneider, lead author, World Nuclear Industry Status Report, September 12, 2017 "The "nuclear renaissance" that we have long waited for is falling short. In the wake of the 2011 Fukushima disaster, the number of new projects has drastically dropped. Among other things, they’ve been plagued by huge cost overruns, lower cost competitors, public fear, an aging workforce, rare required materials, and often unmanageable waste problems. According to the World Nuclear Industry Status Report, the number of construction starts of nuclear reactors worldwide has sunk from a high of 15 in 2010, to 10 in 2013, to 8 in 2015, to 3 in 2016, and to just 1 in the first half of 2017. And most tellingly, premature nuclear shutdowns are occurring in even the richest nations." https://www.forbes.com/sites/judeclemente/2017/09/29/nuclear-subsidies-are-bad-energy-policy/#27c315b87b2c Why let fact get in the way of political bias.
  8. Percentage of each country that is fluent in English. Source: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/11/which-countries-are-best-at-english-as-a-second-language-4d24c8c8-6cf6-4067-a753-4c82b4bc865b/ Its all part of their MS-13 training. How can they rob someone if they only speak Spanglish?
  9. Oh well; I take that back. She is as bad as Trump. Can anyone seriously imagine Michelle Obama wearing such a thing on such an occasion? I can not wait to read the justifications for such a tone deaf, selfish, and for our nation, embarrassing act. Bit by bit these idiots are robbing us of our national pride. It's sickening. I actually do think that she means well but is too naive for all of this. HOWEVER, she's not some lady out for a stroll, she has her own staff members and I can't imagine how she walked 10 feet without someone saying, "Melania, are you sure that's the message you're trying to send?" She's a damned fashion model, she knows that her clothing is a message. Thats what I was thinking. She did stand up to hubby and spoke out to bring the idiot to his senses on this issue. But WTF does she not has a staff or something?
  10. I read three stories in the lase week where republican ;eaders were going democrat. The biggest factor will be republicans who don't turn out for midterms and democrats who are motivated to turn out.
  11. Oh, gawd; The book has forewards by John McCain and Robert Byrd. https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Another-Vote-Wont-Landslide/dp/0870127489/ All about what you say and what you do.
  12. And the bug eating the rest of the time? No windshield on that bike either. She would have had to clean it after every ride anyway. I wouldn't ride up there without a full face helmet. I haven't made the drive from the mainland US to Alaska, but I've heard the bugs are horrendous. Carry an extra jug of windshield wiper fluid and spare wipers because you'll be washing bug guts off a lot on the drive. If you don't have a full face make sure that you ride with your mouth closed.
  13. Improper entry is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine and or up to 6 months in jail And the subsequent or second entry is a felony. And fucking around on your wife is a misdemeanor in New York State. Impeachment is for High Crimes and misdemeanors. Zero-tolerance, the law is the law! You can support that right Marc? You believe in law and order and stringent adherence to the law. Zero tolerance is the law. Trump is upholding a 1997 Supreme Court supported law. I don't agree with his executive order which will eventually be overturned in court anyway. As for the kids and the families well I'm glad for them. How about zero tolerance for emoluments clause violations? Collusion with enemy governments? Lying under oath?
  14. That's great to hear! I look forward to seeing Trump's support of the investigation. Sounds like he finally took the advice of his counsel who already quit that he should cooperate with the investigators. Marc has yet to explain WHY trump promised to lock her up for all her crimes. When trump has a republican attorney general, republican house, senate, FBI director, etc.,etc, Why has trump let her go scot-free Marc?
  15. Thanks for that because stories with real life injuries bring focus to thinking.
  16. [dark] Great, so you can have an open casket service! [/dark] Skydiving fullface helmets don't offer anywhere near the amount of protection you need in any serious crash. Just compare the amount of padding material in a motorcycle helmet vs a skydiving helmet. The motorcycle helmet manufacturers don't put the padding in because they like it, they put it in because they NEED it to meet the minimum safety standards for such helmets. And a motorcycle crash isn't that much faster than someone crashing while swooping something
  17. Once again you address no issues and you attack me. Nothing new. I'm used to it. And as usual I really don't give a damn what you think. Trump's doing fine and it's going to be fun to be around after the midterm elections! That said I hope you and yours keep doing what you're doing. Because the people don't like it. By the way, Did you see that Trump's approval ratings are higher than Reagan's Obama's and anybody else at this. In there presidency? Probably not. Not in your new cycle. But Marc, old, uneducated, white men, are a dying demographic!!!!!...!!!!! Demographic means breed of tribe. "The Latino population in the United States has reached nearly 58 million in 2016 and has been the principal driver of U.S. demographic growth, accounting for half of national population growth since 2000. " http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/09/18/how-the-u-s-hispanic-population-is-changing/ Within another election cycle, everything trump did will be undone, you're AR-15s will be history, etc. Here is you're old bud Cory speaking up for the trump tribe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrt7q6QKF5o

  19. Somehow, I don't think I'm going to like what my retirement account does tomorrow. "China has vowed to retaliate with quantitative and qualitative measures if the United States goes ahead with its additional tariff plan against Beijing. The Ministry of Commerce said the new threat from US President Donald Trump of imposing tariffs on US$200 billion worth of Chinese products was an act of “blackmail”, which was against earlier agreements and disappointed the international community. “If the US side loses sanity to launch the list, China will be forced to take comprehensive measures combining both quantitative and qualitative ones as a powerful hit-back,” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday." http://www.scmp.com/news/china/economy/article/2151361/trump-threatens-slam-china-us200-billion-new-tariffs-unless BREAKING: Dow is set to drop more than 350 points as Trump ratchets up pressure on China with more tariffs https://www.cnbc.com/pre-markets/ Remember, its easy to win trade wars, its the Dems fault and anyway Hillary did it first.
  20. So are tariffs. Can't ignore it on one side and demand protection on the other side. This is what happens when nutty ideas like winning trade wars is defined as "easy". Trump doubles down: 'Trade wars are good, and easy to win' https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/02/trump-trade-wars-are-good-and-easy-to-win.html 10 minutes ago: Trump calls for tariffs on additional $200B in Chinese goods as trade war ramps up http://thehill.com/policy/finance/392906-trump-directs-trade-representative-to-prepare-tariffs-on-additional-200 Anybody wanna bet that Xi and China are not going to turn the other cheek.
  21. Pharma patent protections are covered by NAFTA and other treaties. But I did read about a similar suggestion in the last week. Since trump doesn't seem too worried about honoring trade agreements its certainly an option. Big pharma is the largest US lobby force with massive hordes of cash that they throw about to congress. "Pharmaceuticals are a prime example. The U.S. pharmaceutical industry supports 4.8 million American jobs and has a total economic output of $1.3 trillion in total value of goods and services. Pharmaceutical innovation is naturally key to improving and extending lives with new tests, treatments and cures. In 2016, U.S. biopharmaceutical companies spent nearly $90 billion on research and development. If they can't make profits from that investment, the cures will be delayed or won’t happen. NAFTA was originally billed as one of the first trade deals ever to safeguard intellectual property that flows over national borders. That hasn’t been the case in practice. Canada’s patent protections have been weaker than ours and so the Canadian courts have invalidated some two dozen patents by American pharmaceutical companies, such as Pfizer. While Ottawa has reversed some of the blatant abuses, Canada and Mexico are now imposing back door price controls on American breakthrough drugs. Under a new pricing proposal called “benchmarking,” Canada’s Patented Medicine Prices Review Board will consider a drug price “excessive” if it exceeds a median figure charged in other nations, excluding the United States. But as a humanitarian initiative, the United States often offers drugs at very low prices in poor nations that can’t afford the global market price. ‎Canada and Mexico are not Botswana." http://thehill.com/opinion/international/369413-nafta-20-needs-to-protect-american-business-patents But if trump wants to be an idiot Canada could be Botswana.
  22. It's funny how the same folks that hide behind such sentiment continually resist all efforts to help those in need at home, too. It makes it difficult to infer from their suggestions anything other than the absence of a moral compass. Just for the record... I can't let this derogatory comment slide. You do not know me well enough to know how many people over the years I've helped. It's literally in the thousands. Life-changing type help. And, you don;t know anyone on here well enough to challenge their compass while sounding as though you are somehow morally superior. Well your words were "Callous? I'm sure many would say so." Setting that aside. in the US economy today there is what economists would call "full employment". "To economists, full employment means that unemployment has fallen to the lowest possible level that won’t cause inflation. In the U.S., that was thought to be a jobless rate of about 5 percent — above the April rate of 3.9 percent. " https://www.bloomberg.com/quicktake/full-employment Furthermore study after study shows the undeniable benefits to a countries economy that immigration brings. Here is one from the George W. Bush institute: Benefits of Immigration Outweigh the Costs https://www.bushcenter.org/catalyst/north-american-century/benefits-of-immigration-outweigh-costs.html from spring 2016 "Immigration fuels the economy. When immigrants enter the labor force, they increase the productive capacity of the economy and raise GDP. Their incomes rise, but so do those of natives. It’s a phenomenon dubbed the “immigration surplus,” and while a small share of additional GDP accrues to natives — typically 0.2 to 0.4 percent " Why Mass Migration Is Good for Long-Term Economic Growth https://hbr.org/2017/04/why-mass-migration-is-good-for-long-term-economic-growth A further study from the Wharton school of business: "Wharton experts agree that future government immigration policies can have a direct and beneficial fiscal impact on a country’s booming entrepreneurial sector as well as its GDP." http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/what-migration-can-and-cant-do-for-a-countrys-gdp/ I might discredit the above study however as it is from Wharton. Given that trump managed to skate through his business education at Wharton. It dosn't say much for that school.
  23. I assume that you're referring to this: "Bannon on migrant family separation: Zero tolerance doesn't have to be justified http://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-talk-shows/392665-bannon-on-migrant-family-separation-zero-telence-dont-have-to-be and I would agree. All laws, national policy and the actions of elected officials. Should be justified. Unjust laws have no place in democratic, egalitarian, societies. Children and families have become political pawns. For republicans and democrats.
