Fauci has served six US presidents. President trump has defined the C-19 virus as a war and himself as a wartime president. Yet the GOP/trump right wing has decided to attack Fauci's legitimate credibility.Because truth threatens trump's narrative of covid impotence. To the detriment of the war and of American lives. The attacks have degraded the ability of US health authorities to save American lives in this war. That picture has one purpose and Mr. Fauci has never acted to the detriment of his duties. Like Mattis he has served and bit his tongue in the face of lies and unjust criticism. That picture has one purpose.Just too bad some don't recognize its purpose.

No this is right wing hypocrisy. Competition delivers the cheapest products to the American consumer. Just turn competition loose and everyone benefits. Corporate Insiders Pocket $1 Billion in Rush for Coronavirus Vaccine "Well-timed stock bets have generated big profits for senior executives and board members at companies developing vaccines and treatments. On June 26, a small South San Francisco company called Vaxart made a surprise announcement: A coronavirus vaccine it was working on had been selected by the U.S. government to be part of Operation Warp Speed, the flagship federal initiative to quickly develop drugs to combat Covid-19. Vaxart’s shares soared. Company insiders, who weeks earlier had received stock options worth a few million dollars, saw the value of those awards increase sixfold. And a hedge fund that partly controlled the company walked away with more than $200 million in instant profits. The race is on to develop a coronavirus vaccine, and some companies and investors are betting that the winners stand to earn vast profits from selling hundreds of millions — or even billions — of doses to a desperate public."

I'll defer to your capitulation.

When they answer questions from the press. When they go "off script". No Trump dismisses his daily coronavirus press briefings as “not worth the time & effort” Six Times Donald Trump's White House Has Refused to Answer Reporters' Questions "The crowding of the West Wing hallway, in what is known as 'upper press,' has become the new norm for reporters seeking information or comment from the White House on major headlines over the past 35 days – a record for the span of time without an on-camera briefing during President Donald Trump’s time in office." trump will either refuse to answer, refuse to have reporters question him, lie, deny making past statements, attack the press, or walk out. That ignores softball questions from him hand picking the FOX reporters he likes. Still waiting for you to take the lead with trump's great ideas thread.
-
FIFY Why don't you try a thread that states the good ideas, statements and actions that originate from trump himself. Not from prepared statements he reads. His non-scripted thinking. Turtle and other trump supporters will help you.

Turtle should like your post/thread. Because straws are at the core of the thinking.

Misinformation is not like a plumbing problem you fix. It is a social condition, like crime, that you must constantly monitor and adjust to. "When BBC Future Now interviewed a panel of 50 experts in early 2017 about the “grand challenges we face in the 21st century” many named the breakdown of trusted information sources. “The major new challenge in reporting news is the new shape of truth,” said Kevin Kelly, co-founder of Wired magazine. “Truth is no longer dictated by authorities, but is networked by peers. For every fact there is a counterfact and all these counterfacts and facts look identical online, which is confusing to most people.”

American Catastrophe Through German Eyes NYT editiorial Basis of above story fro Der Spiegel Democracy on the Defensive in Trump's America "Not long ago, it seemed absurd to question the strength of America's system of checks and balances. U.S. democracy, more than 200 years old, has survived numerous crises and its resilience has always withstood attempts to grab power. But after more than three years of Trump, and despite him being the democratically elected president, the foundations of American democracy have grown brittle. Trump has continually pushed back the limits of what was considered acceptable under his predecessors. Flouting tradition, he placed the powerful Department of the Interior and the intelligence agencies in the hands of loyal acolytes. "It's very frightening," says Rosa Brooks, a professor of law at Georgetown University. "I hope that I'm being much too paranoid but it's hard not to think of things like the Reichstag fire at this moment." Both outline the rise and danger of fascism and the lessons learned from a German pov. It seems absurd that this thread has so few responses.I guess 1100 dead Americans a day has properly distracted America from trump's latest outrage.

Fauci July 13."Top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci suggested on Monday that the current nationwide surge in COVID-19 cases was due to the United States not shutting down completely in its initial response to the virus.... “We did not shut down entirely and that’s the reason why we went up,” said Fauci during a virtual conversation hosted by Stanford Medicine. “We started to come down and then we plateaued at a level that was really quite high, about 20,000 infections a day. Then as we started to reopen, we’re seeing the surges that we’re seeing today as we speak.” US shutdown was about 50% in reality, EU is 90%. Fox news yesterday. So two weeks ago Fauci warned the lack of breadth in the US shutdown was leading to new cases. Now he has come out again with the same statement as the cause of current US exploding infections. Just too bad that these factors in infection have to be searched instead of coming from the WH. Too bad that minds like Fauci are forbidden by trump to tell it like it is from the WH podium. Ten million by the election?

As trump calls for schools to reopen he cancels the GOP convention and his rallies. Kids are cheap and easily replaced. Old white republican men are a different story.

"Shut it down and restart. That's what more than 150 health professionals are urging government leaders in an open letter published earlier this week. "Tell the American people the truth about the virus, even when it’s hard. Take bold action to save lives — even when it means shutting down again," the letter, spearheaded by the nonprofit U.S. Public Interest Research Group, says." Yet the now politicized CDC has just come out with a "Open All Schools" directive. It has officially caved to trumpism.

Trump expresses support for Ghislaine Maxwell
Phil1111 replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
What does Maxwell have on trump and will Donald's pardon just cover him? -
Yes unfortunately in China, Russia,Iran and quite a few other countries harassment is a part of the state. "The ACLU protects your freedom through a nationwide network of staffed offices in every state, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. To request legal assistance or get involved, find your local ACLU affiliate below."

Do you mean the Cherokee,Apache,Chippewa, etc. nations? What did they do wrong?

Over 30 million unemployed Americans, four million infections with over 140,000 killed and 1100 more dying every day.. Thousands losing their health insurance every day and twenty-two percent unable to make rent-mortgage payments. Millions could loose their homes because they can't meet mortgage obligations. The message trump wants to send to FOX his captive news channel is his dementia test. If there ever was a god he would hold the election tomorrow and a new presidential inauguration the day after. But alas there will be more ramblings with no purpose but to self stroke his ego.

$380,000 is the amount trump Hotels earned in tax deductible donations for his re-election campaign in a two day period. The pig is at the trough.

Before he outlines the test he states he "forgets" the name of the test. In the ordinary course of events a 74 yo man making such a fool of himself should elicit sympathy. But this is trump so F*#k-him is the word.

Banning child marriage in America: An uphill fight against evangelical pressure Christian evangelicals leading the charge for old white men marrying children. Perhaps thats why the Ghislaine Maxwell thread is hard for them to understand.

and "The Ukrainian famine—known as the Holodomor, a combination of the Ukrainian words for “starvation” and “to inflict death”—by one estimate claimed the lives of 3.9 million people, about 13 percent of the population. And, unlike other famines in history caused by blight or drought, this was caused when a dictator wanted both to replace Ukraine’s small farms with state-run collectives and punish independence-minded Ukrainians who posed a threat to his totalitarian authority."
-
Pffft old news. Just another part of the GOP plan whereby competition defines America. If you have money you win, if you don't you die. Health care is for the deserving not for everyone because that would be socialism.

This is how you use kids as a political weapon.
Phil1111 replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
Turtle started his post off with a quote from a Republican independent TV channel. "KUSI is owned and operated by Channel 51 of San Diego, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of McKinnon Broadcasting. McKinnon Broadcasting is owned by the McKinnon family, which is made up of Dan, Michael, Clinton, and Michael Jr. The McKinnon’s aren’t passive, disengaged owners of the station. Michael McKinnon currently serves as Station Manager. The McKinnon family, including their spouses, has donated over $150,000 to Republican candidates and committees, over half of which into the pockets of San Diego congressmen and the SDGOP. Here is a breakdown of the most popular recipients of KUSI family money. 24 donations totaling $17,020 to disgraced, pay-for-play Republican former Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham. $18,650 to Republican Congressman Brian Bilbray, who makes regular visits to KUSI when he returns from Washington, DC. $21,000 in contributions to now-retired Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter ($26,000 if you count a $5,000 contribution to Hunter’s “Peace Through Strength” PAC) and an additional $11,450 to his son, current Congressman Duncan D. Hunter. Hunter Sr. was also a frequent guest on KUSI. $8300 has been contributed to the San Diego County Republican Central Committee under the tenure of Tony Krvaric. $52,500 in contributions to the National Republican Congressional Committee." So the bias in its so called "reporting" should surprise nobody. It has a well established local profile of hosting any republicans that ask for coverage. Where softball questions are the standard. The station like Turtle, trump, DeVos and the GOP would like to defund public schools. Cut education spending in every budget. This is coverage of the same story from the LA Times: Leaders of the Los Angeles teachers union on Friday called for campuses to remain closed and for distance learning to continue when the school year begins Aug. 18. Union leaders have concluded it is not safe to bring children back on campus as COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County surge to new highs. "The union also released a report suggesting parameters for reopening will be difficult to meet any time in the near future, although they are in line with what some health experts are recommending. In an informal poll released Friday night, 83% of union members who responded agreed that Los Angeles Unified campuses should not physically reopen next month. The union represents around 32,000 district employees, including teachers, counselors, nurses and librarians. Of those, some 18,000 had responded to the poll as of Friday night." No mention of these lies in Turtles version. In fact multiple searches of these "demands" come back solely to Turtles source KUSI TV: "Their demands include implementing a moratorium on private schools, defunding the police, increasing taxes on the wealthy, implementing Medicare for all, and passing the HEROES Act, which allocated and additional $116 billion in federal education funding to the states. The unions demands also took aim at charter schools. The United Teachers Los Angeles union says these policies must be implemented on both the state and national level before reopening schools. Opponents, mainly Republicans, believe these demands prove that San Diego Unified and Los Angeles Unified School District’s decision to conduct classes online is a political one, not driven by the data." -
I think the proper saying is truth is the first casualty of war and the first casualty of battle is the plan. But I'll defer to your experience.
