I recall 2-3 posts where you've been right and as such I agreed with you. You should immediately apologize to everyone here.

In case anyone has forgot the hypocrisy of evangelicals and their inherent racism. 'A tweet by Liberty University’s president, Jerry Falwell Jr., has sparked an angry protest in the evangelical college’s community and a rare apology from Mr. Falwell." "Blackface and Ku Klux Klan imagery tweeted by Mr. Falwell, who tolerates little dissent at the evangelical university he leads, has spurred staff resignations, demands for his firing by influential alumni, an incipient boycott and a raucous protest in the university’s home of Lynchburg, Va., over the past week. So heated was the response that on Monday, Mr. Falwell, the university’s president and a vocal ally of President Trump, did something rare for him in the heat of a controversy: He apologized for a May 27 tweet in which he mocked the social-distancing orders of Virginia’s Democratic governor, Ralph Northam. In that tweet was the image of a mask on which was emblazoned the photo from Mr. Northam’s medical school yearbook of a man in black face and another in Ku Klux Klan robes, one of whom might be Mr. Northam."

The Road to Coronavirus Hell Was Paved by Evangelicals
Phil1111 replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
The deal with Satan hasn't turned out so well for evangelical christians. Satan of course was an angel who rebelled against god and was expelled from heaven. It was Satan who temped Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. Just as trump temped evangelicals with the promise of corrupt laws.Just as Satan was cast from heaven for his betrayal, evangelicals will be cast when they come knocking for their betrayal of Christianity. A feature article from The Atlantic. The Cost of the Evangelical Betrayal. "White, conservative Christians who set aside the tenets of their faith to support Donald Trump are now left with little to show for it. "The closest thing social conservatives and evangelical supporters of President Donald Trump had to a conversation stopper, when pressed about their support for a president who is so manifestly corrupt, cruel, mendacious, and psychologically unwell, was a simple phrase: “But Gorsuch.” Donald Trump may be a flawed character, they argued, but at least he appointed Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. And then came Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia. That is the case decided in mid-June in which the majority opinion, written by Justice Gorsuch, protected gay and transgender individuals from workplace discrimination, handing the LGBTQ movement a historic victory. Garrett Epps: What ‘because of sex’ really means “An employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender defies the law,” Gorsuch wrote for the majority in the 6–3 ruling. It was a crushing blow for the religious right, and it must have dawned on more than a few of Trump’s evangelical supporters that if Hillary Clinton had won the presidency, the outcome of the case would have been the same; the only difference is that the margin probably would have been 7–2." The Bostock case was not the only major legal setback for social conservatives and evangelical Christians. By a 5–4 margin, the Court—in June Medical Services v. Russo—delivered a significant defeat to the pro-life movement, striking down as unconstitutional a Louisiana law that could have left the state with only a single abortion clinic. This dashed the hopes of those who were counting on Trump’s appointees to lead the Court in overturning Roe v. Wade. (Both of Trump’s Supreme Court choices were in the minority.)" Every day the trump death clock ticks up and the deal with Satan is refreshed in the mind of God. -
Well like his fellow evangelical brethren Falwell has a "christian" past: "Falwell began stoking controversy shortly after he took over as president of Liberty University, one of the world’s largest conservative Christian universities, urging students at a 2015 convocation to carry concealed weapons so they could “end those Muslims before they walked in,” After offering his early endorsement of Trump in the 2016 election, the prominent evangelical figure was criticized by students for silencing anti-Trump dissent and creating a “culture of fear,” accusations that were expanded upon in a 2019 Politico exposé, citing two dozen Liberty staff, which alleged Falwell would discuss his sex life at work in graphic detail and show off photos of his wife “in provocative and sexual poses.” As controversy swirled around Falwell’s business dealings involving a young pool attendant in Florida, photos emerged of the Liberty president and members of his family partying at a Miami Beach nightclub in 2014; Falwell dismissed the allegations, which don’t line up with the school’s standards for students barring co-ed dancing and drinking, saying the images were photo-shopped (though the photographer published more the next day). Falwell’s support of Trump, which was seen as integral in winning support from the Christian right in the 2016 election, including allegations that Trump fixer Michael Cohen helped Falwell get rid of racy “personal” photos in someone else’s possession in 2015, as well as reports that Cohen hired a Liberty employee to manipulate polls in favor of Trump ahead of the election, with sources saying Falwell’s son accompanied the employee on a New York trip to collect payment." and ‘Someone’s Gotta Tell the Freakin’ Truth’: Jerry Falwell’s Aides Break Their Silence More than two dozen current and former Liberty University officials describe a culture of fear and self-dealing at the largest Christian college in the world.

Evidently Falwell Jr. is going to spend some time in the corner upon the recommendation of the school’s board of trustees. Shocking because normally blatant lies work so well for this class of miscreants. Imagine a religious pillar having some fun with an employee. Still its surprising that he and his playmate couldn't afford new pants given "cash investments and endowments of nearly $2 billion" Yes that how much these agents of god have kept for themselves. I'm sure Falwell will be on the phone soon to his yacht broker. With more time off from the work of god a upgrade is surely necessary.

New polls show tight races for Graham, McConnell. States that have historically been as safe as Fort Knox. IMO Clinton should have been impeached for what he did. The GOP will stab trump so hard with a election loss that it sill surprise you. Currently trump is at a loss to decide the direction of his campaign. The GOP doesn't provide input Jared and his close band of apparatchiks do. They just pulled their ad buys because they were missing the mark. Guns, personal safety of soccer moms in the suburbs, the rule of law, etc. Are all non-issues and trump is lost. Eventually the GOP will rebuild and even trump's taint will fade. From NYT editorial today "Jonathan V. Last thinks President Trump is here forever. Last, an editor at The Bulwark, a conservative site that’s been hostile to Trump, argues that if Trump loses in November he’ll claim he was cheated out of the election. He’ll force other Republicans to back up his claim. He’ll get a TV show, hold rallies, be coy about running again in 2024. He’ll still be the center of everything Republican. Ambitious Republicans will have to lash themselves to the husk of the dying czar if they want to have any future in the party. The whole party will go Trump-crazed and brain-dead for another four years. I salute Last for coming up with a post-2020 scenario even more pessimistic than my own! My guess is that if Trump gets crushed in the election, millions of Republicans will decide they never liked that loser and jerk anyway. He’ll get relegated to whatever bargain basement they are using to hold Sarah Palin. But something will remain: Trumpism." I actually agree with it almost without exception. If anyone is not a NYT subscriber its well worth the effort to read the entire editorial by getting around the paywall.

Gee Wayne and his buddies must have had some good times.

You just convinced me..... No the US will come out of this stronger than ever. A shithole country has leader after leader like trump, like Putin, like Xi. Its dark now, thousands dying every day, institutions and the law thrown out the door. But a democracy with a free press can strengthen the institutions with poor foundations. Learn from its mistakes. Rebuild better.

I thought it all depended on a couple Larue AR-15's, ten cases of 5.56 and a couple barrels of dried beans?

Well thats his shtick. I'd say banana republic under trump is more accurate. Canada enjoys a huge geographic advantage next to the US. Its akin to the UK next to the EU. Unprotected borders on all sides and large free, well mostly free access to a large southern market. The aforementioned wood, electricity, metals are all in surplus for Canada and a ready market is nice. Its somewhat somewhat common, perhaps 10-20 percent of the Canadian population to look down on Americans. Love of guns, "freedom" the false economy of "competitive medical care", etc. Can all justify a snobbish attitude for some. But the differences are more in their minds than in practice. One new president and the US bounces back. Like the UK, Canadian opinions of the US to do the right thing have fallen by 50% since trump. In Skydekker's defense its easy to see the events surrounding trump as painting the entire country. But a minute or two face to face with a typical moderate American. Changes all of that. One year after the one two punch of vaccines and improved treatments for covid. With a new WH administration. The US will be back on the right track. making America great for every American.

Its that environmentalists and Canadian federal regulations have just about shut down new pipelines. Biden has indicated that he is against new pipelines, including XL, as well. So less safe and more expensive RR tank cars are the result.
-
Hey thanks for that. It leaves Canadian liberals more money for social spending. Most Canadians understand the aluminum tariffs. There will be arbitral panels to decide in Canada's favor like they do in all the lumber disputes. The tariffs get paid back to those that had to pay them. US politicians get their votes and by the time the US buyer and Canadian producer gets their money back everyone has forgotten what it was all about.

What about respecting and following it? Never mind its a rhetorical question as we all now know he's the RNC/GOP. As such the constitution is merely a part of the propaganda for the suppression of the masses.

President Trump pronounces Thailand as "thighland" Before he was president, back in June 2016, Trump said during a rally in Atlanta, Georgia that the country of Belgium is "a beautiful city." Once again, before he was the president, Trump was claiming that Paris, the capital city of France, wasn't in France at all but was a city in Germany, when complaining about a shooting in a Paris police station. During a November 2018 White House meeting with the respective presidents of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, the three countries that comprise the Baltics, Trump got confused at called them 'the Balkans' instead. Of all the countries in the world, you would think that Trump would know where Mexico was as he's practically obsessed with it. During a rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in October 2019, Trump said that "we're building a wall in Colorado," which is a US state a few hundred miles north of Mexico. Donald Trump mispronounced Thailand as ‘Thighland’ during a sweat-soaked speech about washing machines. Speaking at a Whirlpool factory at Clyde in Ohio on Thursday, the President of the United States said: ‘Four five years ago this place was a disaster. The stories of insider dealing go back almost a decade. "The suit accuses the N.R.A. and the executives of “violating numerous state and federal laws” by enriching themselves, as well as their friends, families and allies, and taking improper actions that cost the organization $64 million over three years. "

The NRA has defended gun ownership in the US since forever. It operates as a non-profit but it may be shooting blanks now. "The New York attorney general, Letitia James, filed a lawsuit Thursday seeking to dissolve the National Rifle Association, alleging that years of corruption and misspending had irreparably undermined its ability to operate as a nonprofit. The lawsuit sets up a legal confrontation that could take years to play out and will leave the 148-year-old N.R.A. — long the nation’s most influential gun-rights lobby but recently hobbled by financial woes and infighting — fighting for its survival. The attorney general’s office previously presided over the dissolution of President Trump’s scandal-marred charitable foundation, but the N.R.A., with more than five million members, is a far larger organization that is expected to put up a more prolonged fight." The NRA has a history of rewarding insiders handsomely . Its ammunition has run low because donations and membership has dropped as a result.

More and more Americans are giving up on getting a covid test. Long lineups to get a test as long as 12 hours. Waits of up to two weeks to get results. Is finally causing people to just give up on testing all together. Of course there is the expense of up to $2000. Virus testing in the US is dropping, even as deaths mount "U.S. testing for the coronavirus is dropping even as infections remain high and the death toll rises by more than 1,000 a day. It’s a worrisome trend that officials attribute largely to Americans getting discouraged over having to wait hours to get a test and days or weeks to find out the results. An Associated Press analysis finds that the number of tests per day slid 3.6% over the past two weeks to 750,000, with the count falling in 22 states. That includes places like Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and Iowa where the percentage of positive tests is high and continuing to climb, an indicator that the virus is still spreading uncontrolled."
-
A growing side effect of the pandemic: Permanent job loss "Tens of millions of Americans have lost their jobs in the coronavirus recession, but for many of them the news is getting even worse: Their positions are going away forever. Permanent losses have so far made up only a fraction of the jobs that have vanished since states began shutting down their economies in March, with the vast majority of unemployed workers classified as on temporary layoff. But those numbers are steadily increasing — reaching 2.9 million in June — as companies start to move from temporary layoffs to permanent cuts. The number is widely expected to rise further when the Labor Department reports July data on Friday." All just a part of trump's management of the economy.

"When she returned to Germany last week from a vacation in Serbia, one of the first things Snjezana Kirstein did was to stop at a pop-up coronavirus testing center at Berlin’s Tegel Aiport. Whereas such tests can be hard to find in the United States, with unpredictable costs and results two weeks in coming, Ms. Kirstein was on her way in a matter of minutes after having her nose and throat swabbed. She expected an answer in 24 to 48 hours. The test was not only swift, it was free. “I think it is super,” Ms. Kirstein said. “It was so easy to find, and best of all, it didn’t cost me a thing.” Trump: Anyone who wants virus test can get a test. "And the tests are perfect, like the letter was perfect, like the transcripts were perfect"

According to GOP insiders their choice for Biden's VP is a black woman, Susan Rice. Evidently Black, a woman, one who can be folded into MAGA conspiracy theories fits right into the trump base. A "deep state" villain who could fire up his MAGA base." "On Monday night, Tucker Carlson, the Fox News host influential in Trump’s orbit, opened his show with a lengthy diatribe about Rice and her role in the 2012 Benghazi raid — strikingly similar to the attack Republicans lodged against Clinton in the 2016 race against Trump." Nothing evidently motivates the trump base, nothing can cause the old drums to be dusted off, except.....wait.....Benghazi

Evidently trump can't be shown to be a liar. So he and WH staff has doubled down today on the idea that the 2700 ton bomb was an attack. "White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows defended President Donald Trump's description of a deadly explosion in Beirut as an "attack," dismissing Defense Secretary Mark Esper's earlier comments that most officials believe the incident was "an accident." "I can tell you from Secretary Esper's standpoint, he doesn't know. I had a meeting with him earlier today," Meadows said Wednesday. "I can tell you the initial reports was exactly what the president shared with all of you." Trump's initial comments on the explosion — in which he said he met with "some of our great generals," who "just seem to feel" that it was an attack using "a bomb of some kind"— sent aides scrambling to do damage control. Multiple outlets quoted senior defense officials saying there was no evidence that the incident was an attack. But hours later, Meadows sharply contradicted the defense secretary, and defended Trump's comments as "not speculation on his part." I'm sure Lebanese officials are holding their breaths in anticipation of trump's "evidence from his generals".

Well Falwel had now done good according to evangelical christians. Evidently the woman in the picture with her pants undone "is a real sweetheart" and an employee of Liberty University. Falwel has now promised to “And I’ve promised my kids I’m going to try to be — I’m gonna try to be a good boy from here on out.” "Falwell described the scene leading up to the photo. “She’s pregnant so she couldn’t get her — she couldn’t get her pants up,” he said. “And I was like, trying to like — my — I had on pair of jeans that I hadn’t worn in a long time so I couldn’t get mine zipped either. And so — and so — I just put my belly — I just put my belly out like hers.” Poor woman, the pay at Liberty University is so bad pregnant employees can't afford new pants when they go partying on multi-million dollar yachts. Falwell, well being devoted to god has enormous sacrifices. He can't afford new pants either! Any other president of any other university would be gone by now. But evangelicals, well their just having "fun" and he has to be the worst liar since trump.

I'd disagree on that one. IMO more of: - pretty much zero immigration. WTF would want to move there? - high abortion levels -high levels of mortality -Low Birth Rates It appears as if Russia is following the The Poland Model—Promoting ‘Family Values’ With Cash Handouts

Seems to me that George Bush made a spelling mistake at a school. IMO thats why debates are useless. Reagan had some good one liners in debates. But his ability to develop rapport made him a great president.

Because they have never been to West Point and never read The Art of War. Because they received their military training from Howdy Doody.
